  1. Hey dgorrie, I have to replace my 99 Rx front struts as well. I found some KYB strut inserts on a website but did not know if our vehicles accepts those. Can you please email me at melschase@yahoo.com if you get any feedback on your struts? I wish you the best of luck and keep you informed if I find anything also.
  2. I have a '99 RX300 with ~88K miles and had it for almost 2 years and changing my own oil. I have been using penzoil high mileage and working great. However, my recent 2-oil changes, a good friend of mine who has a history with racing and has his own mechanic shop to consider to switch to Royal Purple Synthetic. Let me tell you, night and day. After putting that in my vehicle, it felt like it gave it a steroid shot. Idles smoothly, increased mileage, lowered temp, and appears to make the engine not struggle during hard acceleration. Skeptical at first, but a believer now. A good grade oil like a Penzoil or this Royal Purple, will make the RX fun for quite a while...Good luck!
  3. Thanks JPI, You're awfully knowledgable on these vehicles. I'm going to attempt to try the tailpipe trick here this weekend. If I found the leak and it's not substantial, a friend told me to use "JB Weld" and that should seal it up versus and actual "hot" weld since that may cause the crack to grow. Your opinions?...Thanks again!!!!
  4. Thanks RX300-BV I'll take a look at the site and hopefully this may help me with my existing problem. Any wisdom on a cracked exhaust manifold? Thanks again...
  5. I am new to this forum and I must say this is the most informative group I've seen yet! I have a '99 Rx300 with ~88,000mi. I recently (1 week) found out I have a leak on my exhaust manifold. I think this "trips" my check engine light to turn on. I'm pretty handy and by looking at the front manifold, it appears pretty straight forward in replacing this piece. 6 bolts where it attaches to the engine block and 2 that is connected to the downpipe. Is this repair as easy as it appears to be? If so, any words of wisdom to make this a seemless swap? Another question, a friend mentioned that he thought this was a "recalled" item years ago. Does anybody know of this or is there a site I can review recalls for this year vehicle? Again, keep up with the great advice. It's a fantastic vehicle and I'm glad that everybody is enjoying their RX. Thanks for your help!
