  1. Trade that airplane and buy several LOL. It is indeed a neat car. My one regret is that I won't be able to drive it to the edge of the envelope because of my skills and the laws in this country. Maybe I should tgry a "driver's education" event at a local track.
  2. I cannot figure out how to do a PM!!!!! All is lost.... all is lost.
  3. I think I'll respond to myself. Thanks to the manual for all the help! I just didn't realize how hard I'd have to pull on the panel to get it out.
  4. Is there any activity here? If not, can someone recommend an active forum for IS-F enthusiasts? Thank you.
  5. Hi Forum members, I am the proud owner of a new 08 IS-F. I'd like to replace the NAV DVD and, although I am reading the instructions, I am finding it difficult to replace the DVD. The instructions say to insert the two special tools provided into the holes on either side of the clock panel. I can't seem to find the holes! Can anybody provide any assistance or, possibly, a better picture of the holes? Thanks in advance and I look forward to sharing things with you all in the future. Joey
  6. I took my GS into the dealer for a "re-repair" of a recent reproblem and they are keeping the car for the three recalls mentioned above. I have decided to trade it for an IS-F and I am looking forward to the new driving sensation.
  7. Hi, where exactly is the NAV dvd drive? I tried looking and all I could find is the jack, and some tools. Please help!
  8. Hi, I cannot seem to figure out how to physically acces the DVD for removal and replacement. Can someone help? Thanks much.
  9. Good point about getting the cap changed under warranty. Besides, my wife and daughter like the refreshments that are available from the local dealer. Ciao everyone and thanks for the information
  10. I have not hit any curbs or done other damage to the wheels or suspension that I know of. I took the car into the dealer today and they read the codes. The computer told the techs that the oxygen sensor on bank #1 was bad so they replaced it and the multitude of warnings have not come back. Regarding the fuel filler cap, it just feels weird to me. I urn it clockwise and will stop after a few clicks thinking the cap's on tight. The weird thing (to me) is that just the slightest pressure counterclockwise is enough to begin the removal of the cap. I seem to remember that it took substantially more than just a feather touch to begin the removal process. What do you all think?
  11. Wow I hope it's that simple for me! Thanks for the quick response and out to the garage I go! I'll let you know what I find.
  12. Hi, I have an '06 GS-300 with 11k miles on it and this afternoon I got a "Check VSC" on the dashboard display accompanied by a "check engine" icon and what appears to be a "check brakes" icon. Any idea where to start on this other than the dealer? Thanks for your time.
  13. Don't even need a screw driver. Just use the tip of the mechanical key. Thanks for the info Duckman!
  14. Hi Duckman, I did some further research and found that there is a small switch on the lower lip of the driver's side dash. The consensus was that the four tires needed to be set to spec and then this switch needed to be pressed, while the ignition is on, until the tire warning indicator flashed three times. This action apparently reinitializes the system at the current tire pressure level and then monitoring is resumed from that point forward. After turning the car off and then on again the light is now extinguished. My wife was upset (who'd guess) that I "fixed" it because she and my daughter were looking forward to ice cream and donuts on the weekend.
  15. Greeting Forum members. I have an '06 GS-300 AWD with runflat tires. The tire pressure warning system activated today and I checked all four tires with a mechanical guage. The four tires were all within 35 PSI +/- a pound. My question is: What is the lower pressure limit at which the system is supposed to activate? I have had this same issue before and the dealer "took care of it" by putting all four tires at 40 PSI which I think is too much but I could be wrong. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Joe
  16. Hi, I was interested in trading my `06 GS-300 AWD with everything but radar, 9k miles, perfect paint including the front due to having the 3M clear bra installed, on a new IS-F and was appalled at what my dealer would offer me for my trade ($25,500). I almost choked and will never ever believe another Lexus marketing hype saying how well they hold their value. Never again.....
  17. Hello All.... I have a 2006 GS and recently installed the latest (7.1) software. I did not notice any substantive changes to the display, icons, etc. Only the map seems to be updated. It's probably a function of the new head unit.....
  18. Thanks to everyone who responded! Now to dig out the "elbow grease"!
  19. In the manual... Touch the "Menu" button on the dash-->"My Places" switch-->"Delete" switch... you can figure it out from there. Thanks very much!
  20. Greetings forum members. I have an '06 GS-300 with light tan, heated and cooled, perforated leather front seats. The driver's seat has taken on a dark hue, probably from the transfer of clothing dyes, that I don't like. Are there any recommended special techniques for cleaning perforated leather? Also, what product do you use and recommend. I know Lexus sells some leather maintenance items but I know there must be others that work just as well and are less pricey. Thanks in advance!
  21. Greetings to everyone on the forum. I have a 2006 GS-300 with the navigation system. Over the period of about a year or so, I have been "marking" places that I have been, some with names and some without names. Those positions that I have marked and never put a name to appear as red flags. For the life of me I cannot figure out how to delete those pesky flags! Can anyone help a mostly uninformed user (me) of the navigation system how to delete the flags?? Thanks in advance!!!
