  1. I have a 2007 ES and have experienced the exact same thing. One of the two buttons (the first one) loses it's code (quits working) every few months. the number 2 button works perfectly and never loses its code. I had the dealer here in Salt Lake City look at it and they said they can not reproduce the problem and therefore can not fix it. They suggested that perhaps I am hitting both buttons at the same time (unlikely) that is causing the issue. Still frustrated with this issue.
  2. Starfire Pearl -White with Tan Interior! (plus chrome GS wheels for good measure)
  3. So that would suggest that keeping the stock 17 inch wheels but going tp 225/50/17 tires from the stock 215/55/17 should be no problem re clearance. Am I correct??? Thanks. Sorry it took so long to reply, anyway.... The GS wheels and Tires do not rub anywhere (after 2 months normal use) since they are exactly the same hight as stock, and just about an inch wider (1/2 inside, 1/2 outside) - no clearance problems at all. They are authentic GS Lexus wheels that had been chromed by a reputable chrome plating company and look great - complements daily. As for warranty - I had my local lexus dealer install Tire Pressure Monitors and set them up as the registered second set of tires (via the hidden button under the glove box) so that I can switch to my stock set up in winter. I did have an issue with one of those sensor but Lexus stands behind everything they sell and covered it just like it was my stock set up. I will try to get some pix up soon.
  4. I added GS430 Chrome wheels to my 2007 ES350. They are 8" x 18" with a +45 offset. (Stock ES350 wheels are 7x17 +45). tires are Yokahama Avid w4s 235/45/18. It looks fantastic because it fills out the wheel wells better and brings the tires out closer to the width of the body. They do not rub anywhere and the ride is much tighter. looking from the front or back of the car, it looks more agressive GS'ish without going overboard. Nice, classy, sporty.
  5. I just put a set of 17x7 2007 ES wheels on my 97 ES 300 to replace the 15x6's. I used 215x50x17 Yokahama Avids with no problems. (see my pictures in the Wheels and Tires forum under my username). I would guess that your 94 is so close that you will be just fine.
  6. From first glance, the mounts look fine. Nothing torn in the dogbone mount. How would I check the transmission shock (dont know the actual name of that thingy???) and the large front motor mount?
  7. OK - so I have not changed the plugs/wires yet, but I did adjust the Throttle Kick-down cable (as ToysRMe describes in a tuner thread) just enough to take out the slack (about 1/8 inch). It shifts like new - Great advice! Not the plot thickens - the slight rough sound/feel that started this thread can now be heard/felt earlier at around 2000 RPM. Could this be related to the Transmission?
  8. I am assumeing they are rubber stops/mounts. Is it ok to use a petrolium product or something else? white lithium grease, oil, silicone lube, butter?
  9. I had my oil changed after your suggestion on Thursday. Not only that, but I had them run a full flush cleaner through it too. The oil on the dipstick is as clear as karo syrup. Between that and the seafoam od, I swear this motor is as clean as it can get on the inside. I have never replaced any of the wires or plugs. Dealer quoted $250 ($50 less than another mechanic). I am not sure how to check the engine mounts, but the shock-like one at the front of the motor is questionable - it has some oil on the lower half, but that may have been from the oil change. I think I will take it in and have them change the plug/wires and check the mounts too.
  10. OK, I replaced the Fuel Filter, PCP Valve over the weekend. While I was in there, I cleaned the TB, IAC, and EGR valves with seafaom. Put it all back together, and then did another seafoam treatment. Once that was all burned out, I reset the ECU. The car is noticably more powerful, and I sleep better knowing that the TB is shinny now, but after all that, it still isn't quite as smooth as it should be at 2500+ rpm. (original problem) Any other suggestions before I take it in to the dealer?
  11. SK / Toysrme - Thanks for your great advice. I have used many of your suggestions in the past and trust your recommendations. Last night I cleaned the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor wires (inside the MAF and at the electrical connections) as mentioned. I also reset the ECU by removing (for 60 seconds) the 10 amp fuse in the engine compartment labeled ECU-b. I assumed that is the correct way to do that because the car feels much livelier, shifts later, and pulls stronger. GREAT ADVICE!!!! It is still running slighly rough as before, but I will reset the ECU again after I clean the ERG, Throttlebody, and IAC (with SeaFoam), and replace the PCV valve and fuel filter this weekend. Wish me luck.
  12. In case anyone is thinking about minor plus sizing (larger wheel) their wheels and tires, Here is my 2 cents. I have a 97 ES300 that had the original 15x6 inch chrome 5 spoke wheels and 205/65/15 tires. After 10 years of wear and tear (not to mention salt damage) the chrome started pealing and causing air to leak, so I decided to give it an update. I went with 17x7 (+45 offset)- 7 spoke chrome wheels from a 2007 ES , with 215/50/17 Yokohama Avid V4S tires. I LOVE IT. The change totally updated the look and feel of an already pristine car, with absolutely no rubbing (as you would get from bigger or wider wheels/tires). (The car is not lowered.) Hope this helps anyone looking to slightly plus size, or update their 97-02 ES.
  13. The gas tank is still half full (with Sea Foam in it). I ran Sea Foam through the Brake Booster line (1/3 can), and put 1/2 can in the oil. If I run more through it, which application would you suggest? I will also be replacing the PCV valve and the Fuel Filter next week just as a precaution. Would Plugs/Wires help, What about a new Timing belt?
  14. My 97 ES300 is running slightly rough from about 2500 RPM and higher as I rev it up (while in Neutral). Not really bad, but rough enough that it is not running like Lexus meant it to. It has 57,000 miles and never had a tuneup or Timing Belt changed. I always run 91 octain gas, and have reciently run SeaFoam through it to clean it out but that did not help much. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I should do to get it running smooth as glass once again? Thanks.
