  1. I wanted to thank you all for your input. My rims were replaced by Lexus of Atlantic City over the weekend. It wasn't planned this way but the truck was brought in with a problem with the alternator so while there they said they would replace them for me free of charge. I did have an appointment with Wilkie Lexus to have them replaced on 9/14 but canceled when my truck was towed into Atlantic City. Now I don't have to worry about another appointment. I'm very happy with my choice.
  2. Lexus of Atlantic City replaced my rims over the weekend. This wasn't planned but my truck arrived at the Dealership on a flatbed due to a alternator that went bad. So why it was there they said they would replace them. They look great and I'm quite happy. I would not have ever been satisfied with refinishing.
  3. I'm looking at buying a 2004 GX and noticed some rust on the wheels in the pictures. Could this be covered under the CPO warranty? Paint is not covered under the CPO warranty, maybe you can make the repair a pre-purchase condition. Done! Nice seeing you here too! I just posted about this on another website. I am getting my 06 GX 470 rims replaced free of charge by Dealer. It was not easy but I would not take "NO" for an answer. My truck just turned 3 and I have 25,000 miles on it. They will be put on this week.
  4. Mine are going to be refinished. Replacing doesn't guarantee that this won't happen again. They assure me that they would be done right. So do you think they shouldn't be refinished but replaced? The one's that have been repainted did they look good?
  5. Hi Everyone, I really need some guidance with a problem that I just noticed that is getting worse. I have a 06 GX 470 which I have had since new this truck isn't even 3 yrs old yet. My truck is kept impeccable inside and out. If there is salt my truck it's washed off right away. If we come down from the mountains on the way my truck is hosed off even the undercarriage. The truck has 25,000 miles on it. I live in Philly so there is little snow that we do get. Maybe 2-3 times during the winter. We have owned 12 brand new trucks in 25 yrs. I have never had one problem with rims from any other maker. This is our first foreign vehicle and I expected more. Prior to this I owned 2 Cadillac Escalade's 2003 and 2005. Never had a problem with the rims but the quality just wasn't there inside. How do I handle this? Is this covered under warranty? I'm really upset about this. How can the rims on a Lexus just bubble up like there is rust under the paint? This isn't just pit marks anymore but large size patches. this is not by the weights for balancing. I want this taken care of because this is the one truck that I wanted to hold on to. I would normally have gotten a new one by now but feel this is nuts because the truck still looks brand new and I paid it off a couple months ago. Why get rid of something that is what I want. Please give me some advice or information that I can use to help me get this taken care of. Has this happen to anyone else? Just because I'm a girl I don't want to be taken advantage of. This site has always given me great advice so I respect the knowledge here. I see that this has been posted before but I'm still under warranty and will be for another 13 months and I didn't see any suggestions on how to handle this. Sami
  6. G Man your the best. Thanks so much for all your info. I gotta say out of all the new trucks that I have owned and I have owned around 20 of them this is by far my favorite. One of the reasons I wanted to maybe hold on to this for a bit longer is due to all the changes that the cars/trucks are going through. Who knows what 2 more years will bring and if I get a new one now then I could take a huge lost the next time we would trade it in. This is why we are thinking of the extended warranty.
  7. Thanks guys, I knew if anyone would know the answer it would be you. So this would be right from Lexus. Now what does this cover? Is this just a power train and engine coverage?
  8. OK I just paid off my 06 GX 470 and for the first time I'm planning on keeping her for a bit. The truck is fully loaded and only has 21,000 miles on it so I'm hoping that it will give me a couple of years without any trouble. It will be 3 the end of Aug. Here is what I would like some help on. I would like to put a remote start in the truck. Is Viper a good one and is $270.00 to have it installed a good price? I would like to look into extended warranties which would you suggest and how much will it run me? We do our own maintenance and change the oil every 3 months or 3 thousand miles. I'm thrilled with this truck. Before this we had a couple of Escalades but will not go back to an American made car again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Sami
  9. The only way the vehicle will relock and arm is if you use the remote to unlock the vehicle and not open any door, the vehicle will relock and arm itself after about 30 seconds. Thank you for the insite. That is just what I thought. I'm glad we got the truck back with minor damage. I really love this truck now fixed it looks new again. Sounds funny but it's one of the few trucks that I really liked. This is also the first Non American truck that we have owned. I now know why many have left the US market. The truck itself is great but you can't bet the service from Lexus. Maybe Cadillac should take some lessons.
  10. That doesn't sound right. If I remove the key from the ignition, put the key in my pocket, lock the drivers door with the power lock switch and wait for the alarm to arm, about a half minute. Then open the inside door lock by hand (similar to what someone with a slim jim would do) open the door (remember, key is still in my pocket) and the alarm will surely sound. Yours doesn't sound like its working corectly. OK I tried it the way you said and it worked but on Friday I couldn't get this to sound no matter what I tried. I guess I didn't wait long enough. Now another question will your truck lock itself? I noticed that if I use the remote to unlock the truck and if I don't get in it right away it will relock itself. But when leaving the truck the truck won't relock itself.
  11. Up date on my truck. Allstate paid for everything which included re coding the key and new locks. My outside adjuster thought it was nuts to put this truck back on the street without new keys. Even if Allstate didn't pay for this we would have which would have cost 1700.00. The women who was the inside adjuster just wouldn't move on this point stating that the locks were not broken so they would not pay for anything that wasn't damaged. Well my security was damaged and I told her I'm sure the court system would love to hear that something happened that could have been prevented if Allstate would have changed the keys to begin with. That is when they agreed to pay for this. As for my dealership. They were fantastic. They did everything in their power to make sure the truck was put back to the way it was before it was stolen. Thank God there was very little damage just the bumper which was replaced. Other then that the truck really wasn't touched. Cherry Hill Lexus went above and beyond with their customer service. Before owning a Lexus we have had 16 new trucks the last two being Escalades. I never had service like this before. If this is what owning a lexus is then I will be a long time customer. While the truck was there for body work (new bumper) I had my 5000 mile check up even though I was only at 4000 miles. I also had the TSB done for the clunk and now the truck drives like a dream. I'm hoping the clunk is gone for good. So far so good. Cherry Hill came at a moments notice even though I wasn't on the schedule until Feb. But due to the thief they came right away to get it out of the neighborhood due to the keys still being out on the street. They never found the keys or the person that stole this. The truck was brought back yesterday in perfect condition. I'm thrilled. One thing I did find out is.....when the keys are within range your security alarm will not work. I didn't know this. The alarm will not work if a key is left in the truck. Even if you lock and arm the truck the alarm will not go off if there is a key within range.
  12. I can't believe it. I've only had this truck for 4 months and last night I must of dropped my keys unloading my packages and didn't noticed since my husband was driving and he had his keys and locked the truck by using them. Well they got my keys to my house and truck and took off. We did recover the truck a couple of hours later but they smashed in my back bumper I'm thankful. Thanks to Lexus link they were able to find this truck pretty fast once they cleared all information and had a DC number. This all took too much time and we could have moved faster if they would have just worked with the police and you didn't have to go through so many prompts. This makes it even harder when your upset. We had all our locks changed today. Second the person that stole my truck now has the keys since when they recovered my truck the keys and the person were not in it. My insurance company will pay to cut another key to replace the one taken but they won't pay to have the key recoded. Now I don't know about you but this is insane......Once this truck is fixed and returned what do I do wait for the person to come back and steal it again????I would think it would be cheaper in the long run to just pay this and provide a secure truck again. Recoding the keys would be 1700.00 is this the going rate? By doing this the old key would become useless and we wouldn't have to worry about them coming back and stealing the truck with the key. To think I got rid of the 2005 Escalade because it was number one in theift and having a son getting ready to drive I didn't think this was safe. I guess I will see what happens. By the way my dealership who I called this morning and who is in the next state sent someone to pick up my truck and get it out of my area to fix it. In this time while they have my truck they will do the TSB with the clunk (parts came in and I was scheduled for Feb 8th) and do my 5000 mile check up even though I'm early. They really bent over backwards to help me out. Sami
  13. Hi Kim, This is what I came across and was wondering if anyone heard of it. I would like to find out who installs this type. LuxLink Remote Start is a great feature to add to any vehicle! Put an end to a freezing seat or an exhaustingly hot interior by starting your car BEFORE you get in it. LuxLink works with the factory remote key where most other remote starters require the use of an additional remote control. How It Works: Simply press the "lock" button three times to remotely start the vehicle. Features: * Uses your FACTORY Remote! * Don't get burned by a hot seat! Remote Start to pre-cool your vehicle! * Automatic 15 minute cut-off while remote operation. * Safety feature prevents vehicle from being driven unless key is in the ignition. * While in remote operation, steering wheel remains locked for security. * Designed for automatic transmission vehicles, not available for manual transmission. * 4 Year Warranty (from original Date of Purchase)
  14. I have a new 06 GX 470 and I read that it has a 23 gallon tank yet when I fill my truck up the gauge in the dash that tells you miles till you need to fill up is 279 yet the website will say 345-435 is with a filled tank. May I ask what's the deal. Am I missing something? Thanks, Sami
  15. I bought a new 06 GX 470 about 2 months ago. I would like to install a remote start. Has anyone done this with their truck? Have you had any problems with it? How much did you pay and what type did you use? I did see that there is one that will use the same key and remote that you received with the truck and I would like to keep that. Did you do it yourself or did you have someone else do it? Thanks for the info, Sami
  16. [ I never did test drive an Escalade (I'm not interested on them). Lexus beat the competition hands down, well that's just my opinion. ' Well I had an Escalade in fact I owned 2 ( 2003 and 2005) I did like the 2003 but as for the 2005 I was never really happy with it. On the highway it handled well and drove nice but the finish work on the truck left a lot to be desired. We traded in the 2005 on the GX 470 (2006 new) We were worried at first about the size since we only owned large SUV's 16 in all. But that soon was resolved. I'm not worred at all anymore. I love the truck. I feel that I have made a wise choice with this truck. We did get this truck loaded and as for the ride and the handling It's just as good if not better then the Escalade. We do have the "clunk" and I'm on the list to have that fixed but clunk and all I would pick the truck again. As for improvment to this truck. I would like to see a power hatch, power folding mirrors, a navigation system that will understand the voice command and not just tell you that the truck has it but it will really work. I would like the passager seat to have more settings, rear heated seats. I would like the truck to come equiped with remote start also or at least have an option for this. I guess we will see what the 2009 will have in it since this model is slated for a change that year. After owning this Lexus for almost 2 months now I can say I would make the same choice. Sami
  17. Well I called this Morning to see if they could fix my "Clunk". I have an 06 with 900 miles on this Gx 470. I was informed that the parts needed are on national back order but before they would put me on the list to have it fixed I would have to let them road test the truck to comfirm what I am telling them is true. I think I may call the dealership that I bought this truck from and see if maybe they can do something and order the parts so when I go in at my 5 k check up it's there for them to fix it. Sami
  18. Well you can welcome me to the gang.....I purchased a new 06 GX 470 on Aug 30, 2006 with 8 miles on it and as of 400 miles I have the clunk. Thank God I read what it felt like or else I would have thought that I was bumped from behind. Now I gotta ask you this. It doesn't seem to happen all the time but it is happening more and more. I, like the other poster hate to have a brand new truck worked on to replace parts already but I guess that is what I am going to have to do. What do you think I should do? The dealership that I purchased the truck from is about 40 min away or I have a dealership that is just 10 min away. Will the closer dealership do this work? Other then this problem I'm loving the truck. I wasn't quite sure how well I would like it since we have driven large trucks 14 in all in 23 yrs but I am glad that I traded in the 05 Escalade in for this, now to see if Lexus will win me over on their service. That is where Cadillac lost us for sure. Sami
  19. I so agree with you. I have had my new GX 470 now since Aug 29th and I'm loving it. I had to get use to sitting lower and the space but once I did that I'm not looking back. The truck rides like a dream and as for having everything you could ever need....well the truck has that also. I'm now not sorry at all for getting rid of my 05 Escalade. I did take a large hit on this since I bought the truck new and only had it a year, but I think it was worth it. I don't think I will ever go back to American made trucks. Enjoy your truck I know we are. Sami
  20. 1. Press the "menu" button 2. Press the "volume" icon on the screen 3. Press the top left of screen 4. Press the bottom left of screen 5. Press the top left of screen 6. Press the bottom left of screen The service menu screen appears: 7. Press and hold the "override" button until you hear a beep and the text changes from white to black 8. Press "back" Can I ask if this is used so you can use the Nav and dial a phone while driving?
  21. Ok first things first. The ML system blows the Bose system in my Escalade away. This thing rocks and with me I like to drive with the radio up. This thing rocks! The storage in the GX, well there isn't any. The Escalade had tons of storage so that will be something to get use to. For me the other biggy is I feel like I'm sitting so much lower. I'm sure I will get use to that in time. The truck drives very smooth also. The brakes on this truck seem to be very touchy another thing to get use too...LOL... I have a heavy foot from driving large trucks it took more pressure to stop the other trucks. I'm still finding my way so once I have had it a bit I will post more. Thanks to everyone for making things a lot more clear on what to expect with this new truck. Now does anyone know this? If a call comes in when your in the truck and you want to switch it over to the phone when leaving the truck how do you do that? If you turn the truck off while on the phone will it automatic switch to the phone? Sami
  22. Sami, You can have many of the "options" you list programmed by the dealer. I'm not sure why they don't let us do it, but they call it Lexus Personalized Settings (LPS). As far as the phone goes...there are many posts hear on how to...The first step is to get the car and phone to recognize each other (this is a one time event because it will remember). The most difficult thing to do is transfer your phone book (I still have not done this as I have Verizon as well). My phone is on I start the car it says bluetooth recognotion successful and off you go. Incoming calls "take over" the nav screen and pause music. Piece of cake! Ok so it seems easy enough. So there is no ringing it will just take over the nav screen and the music mutes? I can deal with that. What will come on the Nav screen? I have also had the dealer do the settings so I guess that will handle that. Now as for backing up, is there a way that the outside mirrors will not turn down. I hated that in the Cadillac but I was able to change that setting. Sami
  23. Thank you for answering my questions. The Saleman called later on and went over a couple of the ways to have my truck programed and did tell me about the option with pressing and holding the unlock button down for 2 seconds to have all the windows and sunroof open. It's funny.....on the Cadillac you can program all of these things right in the truck itself and you don't have to have the techs do it. I can change all of the things like how long the lights stay on after leaving the truck, when the doors lock with speed or out of park, weather you want the side view mirrors to change when backing up along with a few other things. It's funny that Lexus doesn't do this. I'm hoping the saleman will also explain how to use bluetooth with the truck. I'm preplexed with that issue. Some say it will work some say it won't, I do have a phone that is listed on the lexus site as being one of the ones that will work but I am with Verizon so we will see. Again Thank you. Sami
  24. Well I did it. I traded in my 05 Escalade for an 06 GX470. I got the truck loaded to the max in Savannah Met/Ivory Interior. I'm a bit nervous about the size but I think once I get use to it I will love it. Now I would like to know if anyone got the paint treated? Did you get paperwork on this? I got the truck treated and it was free along with the chrome tip, and edge glass and parts with vin numbers and tires for life. This was all asked for after we agreed on price which was invoice. Has anyone noticed if the stereo system is any better then the Bose I already have? I believe it's the Mark Levinson system. Also how many keys do you get? Are the remotes seperate or are they on the key itself? Also is there anywhere I can see the different ways I can have the remotes programed? I didn't get XM radio I had it in the Escalade and didn't really use it so I opted not to get this. Sami
  25. I was wondering if anyone here uses the lexus link? I'm coming from an 2005 Escalade that had on star and loved it. Has anyone used the personal calling feature? Who is the carrier is it Verizon? Is there somewhere I can see the plans and prices of this feature? Sami
