  1. Hmm, Oh well. I'm selling my car anyway. I've spent way more money than it is worth.
  2. Ok, so I drained the oil and I still have the same problem. No weird colours in the oil, which indicates a good sign. I think I've narrowed my problems to the blown head gasket, so the question is: how much would that round up to be? Anyone know?
  3. I don't exactly have time for that tonight, but what if it is a black and gooey mess? What could that mean?
  4. Ok, the oil looks fine - nothing out of the ordinary besides the fact that I have a LOT of oil in the car. This is not a good sign. I might have misread the dipstick since it was at night when I checked it. Just out of curiosity, I checked the transmission fluid and its dark brown, almost black. As I know, tranny fluid is supposed to be a ruby red or somewhere along that color spectrum. Now I just hope that its the head gasket and a screwed sparkplug.
  5. The car has about 148,000, its a 1992 ES, and I paid like 3600 dollars for it. I've only had it for about a year, and I do alot of highway driving. I could try and check the 'easy' stuff and I'll get back on that one. No, I didn't see any white gooey type stuff on the dipstick or otherwise (hopefully, thats a good sign.)
  6. Yeah, I was thinking that I could have a messed up ring. I do agree with AMF. It makes sense. Honestly, do you guys think that I could trade it in as soon as possible? Or will a dealer like chew my AbS for even thinking about trading the car in?
  7. Oh yeah, did I mention that there is white smoke at idle with the distinct smell of gasoline? Yeah.
  8. thats kind of interesting... I was thinking the same thing, but again, I'm still not sure. I'm hoping to get a response from Toysmere, or blckft, or however his name is spelled, lol. Anyway, thanks for the reply!!
  9. Its the strangest thing, I was driving down the highway cruising at 80 MPH. I stopped at a toll and and there was some serious trembling. A lot of vibration was going on. After I paid the toll, I gave it some gas, then all this blue smoke started comming out, and I started to freak out. I stopped at a gas station and bought some motor oil; put it in and hoped for the best. Everything works out fine until just now. The same thing happens again, only this time its a combination of white smoke and blue smoke. I have no idea whats going, and if someone could elaborate, that woulb be great. Thank you! PS temperature, and RPS are fine. 147K Miles
  10. this is friggin stupid. How can no one NOT KNOW what the dimensions are? This is the audio section for Christ's sake!
  11. i'll try and ask here. does anyone know the dimensions of the front/ door and rear speakers for a 92 ES? i believe they're all 6.5's all the way around, but again, i'm not too sure. kthnxbye
  12. anyone know the front/door and rear speaker dimensions of a 92? I think they're 6-1/2 all the way around, but I'm not too sure. Type R's FTW!! :)
  13. there is none. the fact the they're Lexus' is proof enough.
  14. 92 ES here. I just had the transmission rebuilt, and since then I've had this strange vibration comming when I'm idling. I've never had this before and its quite loud. If anyone has ever experienced something like this or knows what might be the problem, please help me out. I'm scared my car's transmission or engine is going to fail again! BTW, the vibration is felt all throughout the car
  15. I'm tired of taking my car to crappy shops. I can't seem to find a good shop around here. If there is anyone who lives in the Orlando area who knows of a very reputable Lexus shop (besides a dealership) tell me where its located and I'll put in a good word for you. Thanks!
  16. is it possible that battery corrosion can create cracks or holes in the air intake tube? I recently replaced this (like 6 months ago) and now I'm back to the same crap of having a bad idle... I was also wondering if the knock sensors could be at fault of the poor idle. Thanks!
  17. Its mid-summer, man! Why in the hell would you want your heater to work??!
  18. I want to have the temp bulbs and the cluster replaced by Lexus. Any idea on how much one would expect to pay for such repairs? I was thinking a good $500, but thats just me overestimating :)
  19. My ES is a 92 and for over 15 years its been using regular unleaded. No problems here...
