2006 Gs430 Amount Of Brake Fluid?
Muwka replied to Muwka's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Thanks James! -
Hi, for 2006 GS430, what is the required amount of brake fluid needed for complete 90K brake fluid flush? Thanks! Michael

Hi, can you please share you method, in detail, of getting that grommet removed? I have a 2006 GS430 and first discovered my carpets completely soaked in summer of 2011. At that time I took the car to my mechanic who lowered the tranny and blew compressed air in all the crevices from underneath. Also pulled the carpet on the passenger side and blew compressed air around there. Seemed to help for a year but I just noticed that the carpet is getting wet again. I see the water drops in the passenger side footwell. Thanks in advance! Michael 06 GS430

Help! Interior Water Leak!
Muwka replied to FlexLexGS300's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Got a call from the dealer today, they said Lexus called them and told them that they were not going to help with this issue. I have to pay 1,400 to get it fixed on my own. Any suggestions??? Wanted to add that I found a "knowlegealble" mechanic & said he knew wat the problem was, he said the HVAC was glogged, grabbed a old hanger, poked it a couple of times & water released & started dripping the way it was supposed to (when a/c on & car on). He charged me 50 bucks to do that & install a new cabin air filter. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE DEALERSHIPS!!!??? It took a while for my enterior to dry up, but it did & I no longer have this problem! FYI!!!! Help, I have '06 GS430. Started noticing a musky smell a couple of weeks ago. Pulled up the floormats yesterday and found the carpet completely soaked. Both front and rear. I knew right away what the issue was from reading this forum before. Took the car to my mechanic, he lifted it up but we could not find the drain tube. The TSB mentioned above is for GS300. 06 GS430 has drain plug is right on the bottom of the evaporator unit. The whole dash needs to be taken apart, then disassemble AC unit and pull out the evaporator box. Takes 4.5hr of labor according to the shop. Do you know where exactly your mechanic stuck the hanger to clear out the clog? I have 69K on the car so it's out of warranty. I was reading somewhere the dealership would charge between $1400 and $2000 to fix it. Please help! Thanks, Mike 2006 GS430, soaking wet -
2006 Gs430; How Long Can I Drive On A Spare?
Muwka replied to Muwka's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Sorry, should've mentioned that. No, it's a donut spare. My car originally came with Dunlop run-flats. -
Hi, I hit a crater-size pothole on Saturday night and blew out front right tire. Rim and tire look OK, I hope I only need to have the tire re-sitted on a rim. It's a '06 GS430 with stock 18' rims and brand-new Conti DWS all-around (luckily, I bought tire insurance). Question, is it OK to drive on a spare for a few days until I get the car to a tire shop? About 40 miles daily, under 50MPH. I am mostly concerned about inflicting any suspension/alignment damage. Thanks, Michael

Park Assist Sensors - Outrageous Price To Replace
Muwka replied to jillhelen's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
There is a button to turn on/turn off parking sensors, it's in the dropdown box on the left. Hope this is as simple as that for you. -
Tires / 2008 Lexus Gs 350 Awd
Muwka replied to RDN_GS 350's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I had Dunlop runflats. They sucked: very rough in the summer and absolutely no grip in winter. I could not even get up my driveway with just an inch of snow, so I had to get a set of winter rims and tires. When Dunlop wore out a year later after 20K miles I got a set of all-season high performance Continental ContiExtremeContact tires. Love them! Great, predictable handling all-around, and no need for snow tires in the winter. Michael '06 GS430 -

Screaching Brakes On New Break Pads & Rotor?
Muwka replied to LexnTex's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Did you go in for a break caliper recall yet? Apparently there was too much gap in the rear calipers which resulted in excess screeching noise. I've had it in my '06 GS430 for over a year and after they did recall work it went away. They also installed new rears pads for free. -
Looks nice! How much and where did you get them from?
-
I just had mine done 2 weeks ago. They showed me the new dash clips that are now wrapped in felt so there is no plastic-on-plastic contact. The car is now silent, just like Lexus is supposed to be. I asked them to run the power cord for my radar detector while they had the dash out and they did it free of charge. Also did the two recalls (brake caliper and power steering) and they gave me brand-new rear brake pads as part of the rear brakes TSB. Glad I didn't do rear break job last month, saved me $600. :) That was in Arlington Lexus in Palatine, IL. Michael '06 GS430 Thanks for the info, Michael. I'll definitely try out Arlington Lexus. I live pretty close to Woodfield Lexus, but their service is complete s$%t! I don't think I've experienced such bad service at any other Lexus dealership (except maybe one in Greenwich, CT - when I made the point that $80 for an oil change seems a bit excessive). I had Woodfield Lexus take a look at the creaking - they seem to have fixed the one coming from the left corner of the dash (near the windshield), but there's still a rattle coming from the nav unit area. I also just passed 40K miles (well, I'm at about 42K now), so the bumper-to-bumper is over. I do have Lexus's Platinum plan - will that cover the creaks/rattles? Also, can anyone provide the TSB number(s) for the dash rattle? I tried searching the forum, but am not allowed to search for terms under 4 characters. It would be nice to have a tsb thread made as a sticky to gather the info in one place. Thanks! Your warranty is 4yr/50K miles, so you're good. As far as TSB, I think it is "SB0040-08 JUL 08 Interior - Instrument Panel Rattle". I got this from alldata.com site, http://www.alldata.com/TSB/31/06310920.html. Just call Arlington Lexus and schedule an appt for noise kit TSB. I've been to Woodfield once, I would never go back, overpriced service and stuck-up attitude.

Change Run Flat Tires To Traditional Tires
Muwka replied to kevinclee's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
Had Dunlop runflats on my 06 GS430. They rode very harsh and wore out on the inside after 18K miles and I don't drive aggressively at all. Dealer just said "they all wear out like that". They were terrible in snow, almost undriveable. Replaced them with Continental ContiExtremeContact All-Season Hi-Po tires, what a major improvement! Quiet, great traction, and pretty cheap compared to others. Just drove in the snow this morning and they handled almost as good as my winter set (Hankook Icebear). I would highly recommend the Conti's. Michael -
I had my brake pads replaced about a year and a half ago for dust problerm by Arlington Lexus in Palatine, IL. No more dust since then but my brakes got progressively louder, they sqeak like crazy when cold but the squeaking goes away once the brakes warm up. I am planning to take the car in again to have the brakes checked out.

Gs350 Autosense Windshield Wipers
Muwka replied to Member123's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
What, did it finally stop raining in Oregon? Sorry, couldn't resist... ;) -
I just replaced my dunlop runflats, what a terrible ride, the tires only had 18,000 miles on them.I replaced them with Falkens,so far so good, reasonable cost, much better ride. :) I am getting Continental ContiExtremeContact tires installed this Friday. They are ultra high-performance all-season. Very good reviews on tire sites and pretty cheap compared to others. $700 out of the door at Discount Tire shop.

Navigation Bypass Procedure No Longer Works!
Muwka replied to Muwka's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
No, the override does not work with 7.1. I was going to try and burn hybrid 4.1/7.1 and 5.1/7.1 disks and try both. Will keep you posted. -
Navigation Bypass Procedure No Longer Works!
Muwka replied to Muwka's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
nope, does not work. Nav ECU retains the settings. My dealer ended up replacing the whole Nav ECU and also gave me new version 7 maps DVD at no charge. -
Navigation Bypass Procedure No Longer Works!
Muwka replied to Muwka's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I pulled the fuse for navigation for a few minutes and it helped "reboot" it. I could again get into the override screen. I then went on to explore other options and made a stupid mistake of selecting a "load program" option and choosing US.... Well, now the navigation system does not even recognize the navigation disk and displays a message "insert correct disk" and a bunch of japanese characters... I read on clublexus forums that navigation ECU needs to be reset which requires taking the ECU box apart and taking one of the boards out to get to the switch. Needless to say I am not going to mess with it myself. Took it to my Lexus dealer, they are totally clueless. Called me the next day and said that they need to order a new navigation ECU and navigation disk.... good thing I am still under warranty, ECU itself is like a 4K part. -
I have 2006 GS430 with navigation version 4.1 I recently inserted 7.1 disk and all the maps worked fine. I then reverted back to my 4.1 disk and discovered that the navigation bypass procedure (volume-> tap up/down/up/down->override) no longer works! Do I need to "reboot" my nav system, and if so, how??? Thanks for any help, Michael

Has Anyone Purchased A Nav Upgrade For The Gs300?
Muwka replied to forestnj's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
has anybody successfully created a hybrid disk using latest 7.1 maps and 4.1 config file? This will give you the latest maps and improved interface and preserve the old "tap up/down/up/down" trick to enable nav controls while moving. Michael '06 GS430 -
2006 Gs 430 Inside Tire Wear
Muwka replied to justinsampson's topic in 06 - 12 Lexus GS300 / GS350 / GS460
I just put on my winter wheels two days ago and noticed the same thing, my OEM Dunlop run-flats were worn down on the inside edge, witht the groove and several spots worn down to the metal. They did hold air just fine though. I have 21K on the car, Dunlops had about 15-16K on them. Is this kind of wear covered by tire warranty at all? Michael '06 GS430 -
Read your owners manual. Navigation DVD slot is located the glove compartment.
