I just replaced mine and it's pretty easy, helps to have someone inside the truck. I purchased the replacement mast at the Toyota dealer, it is a universal part. Loosen the chrome ring and when you start the vehicle the antenna will start to go up just keep pulling it and the person inside should push the UP on the power button to extended all the way. You should notice how the teeth are facing when you pull out the old. Insert the new mast as far as you can and the person inside should turn the car off so the motor grabs the teeth and pulls the mast into the fender. Make sure you put the chrome ring on the mast before inserting and tighten it after the mast has been pulled back completely. Next time I'll remember to lower all the way when going through the car wash!

I'm afraid to inform you that the CD player is jammed and will need to be either replaced, or taken out and sent for removing the corrupt CD's. I just had 2 cd players replaced in the last 60 days!! It is a very tempermental unit and I've decided to incert or remove CDs only when I'm parked. I'm alos looking to replace the factory unit and upgrade with an in-dash DVD along with rear headrest videos, I had an earlier post on a upgraded stereo that a few member showed some very cool audio-video products. I have the same problem in my "new" 1999 I just bought. I hear it from both front windows/door jams. Let me know if the stripping needs to be replace as they grow old....kinds like me. Kevin Same_Problem__1999_

Given the problems I've had with replacing 2 cd changes in less than 30 days. I'm looking for input on replacing the factory unit with an aftermarket and may want to go ahead and add DVD with rear flip down monitor. Any ideas for both in-dash replacement systems and Rear entertainemnt system. Can the new Rear system for 2003 be added to a 1999. I would probably upgrade the amps and speakers...the whole deal to get it right. Thanks

I'm a new owner of a 1999 LX 470 and when purchased the dealer replaced the cd changedr due to the err3 jam. A week later it did the same thing after loading Store bought CD's. This is the most sensitive machine I've ever seen. I'm waiting for the dealer to get the new one to swap it out again..under warranty thankfully. I think I'm just going to use it as a single cd unit until I can find a aftermarket unit that will be an improvement. Hopefully the dealer can remove the 2 jammed cds.
