  1. yea i have, i'm just not a fan of going aftermarket on cars.. i feel like that what civics, etc. are for. i knew i wanted to put on some kind of factory rims on it, the GS & IS wheels were a lil too sporty for the look i was looking for.. and tirerack didnt either so i guess to answer ur question, yeah i like these wheels. i live in NY where there are lots... lots of ES's. Alot of them have aftermarket wheels on, and i feel like they ruin the look of the car by going overboard. Also i've yet to see any 92-96 with these on. I like that lil fact... plenty of compliment so far too to go with that so i'm not really alone in liking them.
  2. thanks alot lexusk8. just the opinion i was looking for. Do you know where I can find that picture?
  3. funny thing is i had all 4 balanced and aligned when i did my struts. so they discounted the price of all that from the tires and gave me a free alignment... so at least i got something from the experience B) .
  4. i have a 93 and just did my rotors myself, the fronts are pads, so are the rears, however the rears are deeper cus they serve as both pads and e-brakes. the ebrakes are drum brakes that rest withing the rotor, which is why its deeper on the rears
  5. a friend of mine just bought one off ebay for $125 shipping included. only problem is it was primed... he paid $50 to get it painted, and that $50 also covered them brushing up paint chips and scratches aroudn the car... this was in NY tho... donno where you are... but $125 was the price of the bumper
  6. turned out it was my tires.. thanks for the assistance tho...
  7. i hve a 1993 ES, i recently changed the stabilizer bar bushing, also i just changed the rotors, calipers and pads on both sides, also both rear struts. if it were my lateral link, would it be something they would have picked up after my alignment?... they never mentioned anything... but i'll take it in again. thanks for the help
  8. hello all, i'm having 2 major problems with my car at the moment. the first is the knock in the rear wheel area. i have changed both boshings like 2 days ago, the ride si much smoother but the noiose persists. the fatser i go the louder and more voilent the sound gets... it doesnt really shake the car or anything... just a loud helicopter like noise thats extremely annoying... i should also mention that the noise only comes between 45-70 mph. nothing while braking as i just changed rotors and calipers... also brand new strut assemblies. the mechanic that did the job pointed out a a bushing that had some play in it its bushing 4/5 from the image. could that be whats causing the knocking? if so, where can i find this bushing?, can i do the job myself? 2nd problem is my RPM is a little out of range. 40@2000RPM 50@2250RPM 60@2500RPM 70@3000RPM i usually dont drive much faster than 70....(conservative i know ) 2 weeks ago my RPMs were fine... i just happened to notice this while driving yesterday.... i know i need an oilchange, but any ideas whats causing this? thanks ahead of time
  9. thanks alot lexusk8. just the opinion i was looking for.
  10. i'm looking into putting some 2001 platinum edition rims on my 93 ES. wanted an upgrade without deviating from the stock look. just curious as to what opinions are, what do you guys think?. feel free to make suggestions B)
  11. i had previously posted about a shimmy i thought was comming form my front end( before and after changing my front rotors) upon official checks, it turns out its my rear passenger side caliper has been sticking and causing the shimmy. :whistles: so far i have gotten quotes of 550 - $689 for the repairs. this is to repair both as the mehanic suggested i should. i'm now looking into buying the parts myself to cut down the cost. my question is, which do you suggest? pepboys brand($48) which comes with a warranty Autozone- fenco brand($55) comes with the warranty A1 cardone ($85) no warranty my guess is the cheaper brands also meet the stock requirment... is it worth spending the extra on brand name? i'm in the NY area.... if u guys have any other cost effective suggestions...please feel free to share. thanks in advance
  12. thanks for the replies guys, there are a few suggestions here that i'm gonna look into, but i did try the easiest one mentioned, which was changing out the tire and yup! the ride was the same... so i know its a front end/ breaks issue. my CV joints were fine when i saw them a few days ago, struts however is a different story. The way the car rides is fine, so i dont think i'm having a strut problem. but i'll def. look into it. the guys at the shop while checking didnt mention anything about the bearings or assembly so i'm assuming those parts were ok too. while changing the rotors tho all i did was simply put the calipers back on the same way they came off.. so i'll have the shop check to see if it was reassembled correctly. thanks for the advice again, and i'll keep you guys posted.
  13. hello all, first off this is a great forum, however i have been unable to find a solution to my problem in any prior posts. i have a 93 ES 300, i have a shimmy in my front pass. side, which comes in when i go over 50 mph, and sometimes while breaking. I took it to local wheel shop and they said my front end is perfectly fine. Good balljoints, tierod, axle, control arm and bearing. Got an alignment done anyway, also a balance. and the sound is still there. Its important to note; i had recently changed my front rotors on my own with the help of a friend who is experienced. the noiose was however there even before i changed the rotors(mildly-common rumble when rotors need to be changed). The sound and rough ride has been amplified somehwat since. anyone has any idea on what either myself or the mechanics at the shop could be over looking?. steering collomn? mounts? anything?
