  1. I bought rotors and pads from www.sleeoffroad.com as recommended by an LX450 owner. The difference was an marked improvement compared to the OEM offering.
  2. The noise comes from the front on the drivers side, the noise sounds like a bearing, I have rotated the tires and the noise remains. The boot on the CV joint is perfect and there is not clicking noise from the CV joint. The sound can be heard inside the car and is rotational in that it stops when the vehicle is stationery. Vehicle mileage is 77000
  3. It's OK to put OEM coolant into an engine that has been left to cool for a couple of hours, add coolant before this and you risk seriously damaging the alloy block and cylinder heads. If this is the original radiator it may well be blocked internally. If you look through the radiator you may find the cooling fins are blocked with road debris which will drastically effect the cooling effect of the radiator. Have the cooling system pressure tested and checked for blockages. Is the oil Ok? if the head gasket has failed you may see water in the oil. Good Luck David O'C
  4. Try http://www.taprecycling.com/ they are expensive but may have the part you need, a same year Landcruiser will most likely be the same Regards David O'C
  5. In my LX450 I also had a whining noise coming from the vehicle when under power, however since my divorce the whining has disapeared calm and quiet has now returned..
  6. I would also check all of the vacum hoses including the one from the airbox to the air intake, a split will cause the stalling symptons mentioned. I thought that the 1993 ES300 had a crank trigger rather than a conventional distributor and rotor? Annie Oakley Doakley
  7. It does not have a OEM oil filter and I will install OEM to eliminate that. The engine RPM on startup seems to be normal, the belts seem to be correctly adjusted. Anyone know if the power train warranty runs to 70,000? I will check with the Lexus dealer today and report back. (I also have a 1994 ES300 and a LX450)
  8. 2000 ES300 with 68000 miles, the other day I heard a rattle from engine on startup the rattle cleared straight away and the engine runs perfectly. Anyone experienced this before? Am I correct the powertrain warranty runs to 70000 miles? David
  9. The vibration is probably the heat shield on the silencer or catholic ;-)converter under the passenger side, get a large hose clamp and secure heat shield with clamp. Regards Ellieoh
  10. Once the head gasket is replaced I would change the coolant on an annual basis - to be safe use Toyota coolant. 156k is nothing for these engines.
  11. I have not used Amsoil engine flush but have used their oil for some time in my LX450 without leaks or seal damage. And I beleive you can safely extend the period between oil changes.
  12. I also saw www.sleeoffroad.com had manufactured a bracket to mount the spare tire securely inside the truck, not a bad option if you have the space.
  13. Next time you need parts try www.parts.com you can buy Lexus OEM parts at a significant discount. I have used the website several times without any problems.
  14. You could be chasing several seperate faults here, #1- I beleive that if the Lexus LX450 AC system is low on freon it will work effectively at low tempreature buy cut out when it is unable to provide effective cooling at higher tempreatures #2 It is possible your cooling fan clutch is not working correctly? does the tempreature rise when travelling in heavy traffic? #3The auto climate control relies on several sensors to operate if 1 fails it may have tjhe effect you are experiencing.
  15. The head gasket is a common failure with these engines, in the area you have described. It's been mentioned before but have you tried the heater hose? it's in the area you describe. Try this website - http://sleeoffroad.com/newbie/newbie100.htm
  16. The LX450 has a central diff lock which engages when the small lever next to the shift lever is moved into Low. Some LX450's have factory installed electric activated diff locks which are engaged by the rotating swich to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. For a more detailed explanation go to - http://sleeoffroad.com/newbie/newbie100.htm
  17. What maintenace has been carried out to the transmission recently? try a transmisson fluid flush, it's relatively cheap and cured the same problem in my 94 ES300
  18. I have heard that there are 2 fuel pumps and if one is faulty (usually low pressure) you will experience that symptons you have described. Have you used injector cleaner recently? often overlooked but worth the effort in my humble opinion. David 1997 LX450
  19. Check that all 4 doors are turning the dome light on and off, if faulty replacing the door jamb switch is easy.
  20. I have had success with www.parts.com on numerous occaisions, ask for Internet pricing always
  21. I had the same question and bought the LX450 and have not been disapointed it's an awsome vehicle
  22. For a selection of brushguards for the LX450 go to - http://sleeoffroad.com/products/products_f...umpers_main.htm No affiliation etc just know they offer great service
  23. I use Amsoil and the the OEM filter (small) it has a system to stop the oil draining during engine inactivity and was an improvement.
  24. Head gasket failure is common, however there is a hose on the side of the engine that fails. Try this link for explanantation http://sleeoffroad.com/technical/tz_heater_hose.htm Regards David
  25. My 94 ES300 had the same problem, inspect the hose between the airbox and air intake, it may be split. Replacement is easy and not too expensive. Ensure you check the hose both sides of the air mass unit. Ellieoh
