  1. Hello "Smooth1". thanks for your expert advice..... here are the answers to your questions: 1) Does the crackling sound increase with the volume? Either in frequency and in volume Answer: Yes, both in frequency and in volume...however, it is intermittent....i can be playing the same songs....sometimes it has the crackling sometimes it doesn't. 2) Does the crackling happen while adjusting the volume or after wards? Answer: crackling happens during the adjustment.....crackling will be louder and more audible at higher volume setting....around 25 to 30....and very loud at 35. 3) Does it seem to stress the crackiling noise if you increase the bass level, or treble level, or no change at all? Answer: Very minor differnce....but i would say a little more with the bass level 4) Which speakers exactly make the crackling noise? Does the noise go away when you use the fader to isolate the front speakers? Answer: the lowest speaker (near the foot) on the left rear door. 5) Which speakers have no output? If you again use the fader, balance controls, can you isolate those speakers and determine if it is a seriously deficient output or no output at all? Answer: there are three speakers on each rear door - top one at the window, middle one near the door handle, and the lower one near the foot) and currently the middle speakers near the door handle on each rear door have no output. I am in San Francisco, California. too bad you are so far away, otherwise i would drive the car for you to see. Anyway, much appreciate your advice. thanks. Jackie
  2. i have a problem with my Mark Levison System in my 2006 IS350....been to the dealears three times now but the problem still exists...... does anyone know if there are Mark Levison Specialists that can diagnose the problem. please advice. the problem: there is "intermitten" crackling sound in the left rear door speaker and all the sound seems to come from the front speakers and nothing from the rear. service department reset the tre, mid, and bass levels and said the spearkers are fine since the service tech did not hear the crackling sound when the car was brought in.......they advice that i should leave all the settings untouched from factory setting because the ML processor will produce the best sound autmatically.....(which does not make sense to me)...is that true? service tech also advice that the speakers in the rear are only for "fill" sound and they should be much softer in their output comparing to front speakers (which also does not make sense to me)...is that true? finally service department identified the cracking sound was due to a blown rear door spearker and replaced it. i asked the service tech does that mean all this time i have no output from the blown speaker and why the crackling sound is only intermitten......service tech response was only certain sound frequencies were lost in the blown speaker and only when those frequencies are played will have the crackling sound and output is fine with other sound frequencies (which does not make sense to me, i think a blown spearker should have not output at all)....is that true? with a new rear speaker, there is still cracking noise......and now i noticed that the middle spearkers on both rear doors have no sound output. i am not confident that the service department can properly solve the prolbem, i would prefer to have a specialist that is familiar with the Mark Levison System to diganose the system once and for all so that i can have it fixed. Please advice. thank you very much.
  3. Anybody used all of these three products "Clearkote Quick Shine" vs. "Eagle One 20/20 Perfect Vision" vs. "Stoner Invisble Glass"? Any comments on which is the best for cleaning inside windshield? I read project description of each product and Clearkote Quick Shine seems to be a multi-purpose cleaner and not specifically for glass cleaning while Eagle One and Stoner are dedicated glass cleaners. i am a little skeptical on Clearkote Quick Shne that "claims" they can clean different surfaces and materials and also is a color enhancer. Actual product description of Clearkote Quick Shine: Polish - Enhances the color of all paints 1. An excellent color enhancer and maintainer developed for use on all paint, metal, gel coat, fiberglass, plastic surfaces, glass, tinted windows, Lexan and Plexiglas. 2. Used to maintain luster after polishing with Moose Wax or Vanilla Moose Wax Hand Glaze. 3. After washing and drying vehicle, lightly spray on Quik Shine. Using a soft towel buff to a brilliant luster. Every time Quik Shine is used the surface gets polished. 4. Developed for the aviation industry to be used on Lexan and Plexiglas windows. 5. Outside auto: Use on everything except tires. 6. Inside auto: Use on everything except fabric surfaces. 7. World's best furniture polish. Cleans windows, mirrors, microwaves, plastic counter tops and linoleum floors. 8. Will not leave fingerprints. Anti-static properties repels dust. 9. Contains no Teflons, silicones, alcohol or abrasives. Sounds too good to be true. Any comments??
  4. When you play a DVD-Audio disk.....there are different goup selections.......that is similar to a DVD-Movie when you have to select the audio before you play the movie. Look on the DVD-Audio case and it will list all the different audio formats.......(e.g. 5.1 surround, DTS, Dolby...etc..etc.) then you can choose whichever you want to that will fully maximize the Mark Levison System. have fun
  5. You can program one of the keys to your seat setting and the second key to your wife's seat setting.....when you carry the key with your setting, as you walk up to the door to unlock the door, the car will adjust the seating position as you unlock the door. Refer to Page 29 on the Owner's manual. Good Luck. Ohh...i forgot to mention, i am refering to my 2006 Manual which is on page 29......since you have the 2007, maybe the manual pages are different......it should be under the following headings: - "Adjustable components" - "Linking drivihg poistion memory with door unlock operation" I hope this will help you find it.
  6. The DVD Changer can play ANY Audio Format........the best sound quality would be from a DVD-A (DVD Audio) Disk....it will give you true surround sound from the Mark Levinson system.....you will really appreciate the sound quality.......however, there are very very limited DVD-Audio format disks in the market today and very limited choices on artists....and each DVD-A disk are much more expensive than a regular music CD or even a DVD movie......i bought several recently....and they are about $28.00 each. You can go to Tower.com or (Tower Records Stores) to look for the DVD-Audio format disk.....but i find it best to do it online because they give you a complete listing of all the titles available in the market today.....and will special order them for you if they don't have them in stock....i went to several Tower Records Stores and they no longer carry the DVD-Audio format disks becuase of very low demand. The Mark Levinson System will automatically recognises the disk format as soon as you put it in.....so you don't have to worry. then the only setting to adjust is to turn the Surround feature ON in the Audio menu under DSP.......this will truely bring out the surround sound......and all the other audio format should have the surround setting off for the best stero sound..... !Removed! Luck.....
  7. i have my cell phone connected via bluetooth to my IS350. how do i dial a number while i am driving? all the buttons on screen are deactivated when the car is in motion. thanks.
  8. My wife used to have a Black on Black BMW 3......and it is a nightware to keep clean....she would take it to professional car wash once a week and it will "look" dirty after the second day.....every lightest scratch and all the dust will show up on black..... i finally convinced her and we just got a Siliver metalic IS350 and we love it .......it hides the dust much better and the car looks good even after a week without washing.
  9. My 2006 IS350 is due for its first oil change at 5,000 miles. The car has other little issues that i need a service adviser to address: 1) rear view mirror vibrates and makes noise 2) rear left spearker has crackling noise 3) auto headlights inconsistent operation (sometimes comes on during the day or won't come on entering a dark garage) 4)gas pedal inconsistent operation (sometimes feels like gear in neutral when stepping on the gas...the car would jerk and pick up in a second or two delay) i would appreciate very much if someone can recommend a dealership in the san francisco bay area that has "good" service department that can address the above issues properly and correct the issues. i don't mind driving to a dealership even if it is farther away. i have been to lexus of serramonte already and problems have not been resolved. thank you all very much for your feedback and input. Jackie

  11. i love to have a clean & clear windshield to look out ....espically when the sun is shinning, often you see all the dirt, fingerprints, etc...that impairs your vision. what products to use to clean inside of the windshield? thanks.
  12. thank you all for your information and suggestions.
  13. i am sooooo miserable this weekend.......my new IS350 (2 months old) was hit on the passenger side rear bumper by a careless driver......the damage on the bumper was not too extensive and even though the bumper can be replaced...but my heart is still aching from deep inside. i was even more shocked when i brought my car to the lexus dearlership in san fancisco and they say they do not have a body shop and gave me a referral to a third party body shop to go to.......wow, that's surprising to me..... any recommendation on a "GOOD" Lexus Certified body shop in the san francisco bay area that will do Lexus bumper replacement using genuine lexus parts........and most importantly is "Lexus Certified" ?? ....casue i want the job to be done right the first time. Many many thanks.
  14. yes, i have already activated the bluetooth on my phones........i probably will need to bring it in to the dealership.
  15. i have been trying to setup my bluetooth connection on my IS350 but no luck...very frustrating......i have a motorola RAZR phone and two Palm Treo 650.....neither one would connect. i followed the steps listed in the lexus manual.....and also checked compatability on the lexus website and printed their step by step guide on connection but still didn't work. anyone has any insight or suggestions to get the bluetooth to connect? thanks alot.
  16. i have an IS350 with with Auburn Bird's-Eye Maple Accent .....i noticed the wood gets these "spots" very easily.....look like water spots.....i tried to wipe them out with a microfiber cloth but it takes a lot of buffing and some spots still showing......i didn't want to use any chemicals or windex afraid they may damage the finish.......any suggestions on what these spots nay be and the best way to take them out and keep the wood finish clean? thank you for your comments.
  17. thanks for your insight 'SKperformance' do you have a recommendation on a good brand of wax to use do i apply at that location only or would it be best to do the whole car for even coverage. i will try to get a picture to show. thanks a lot.
  18. i just got a brand new IS350 three weeks ago.....and i noticed there are stains on the paint just above the rear left wheel.......it is brownish in color and is smooth on the paint when i touched it and the stain looks like two small drops that was running and dried. i took the car to a dealer last week.....and they said it was Tree Zap.....dealer tried taking the stain out with some kind of solvent...but no luck....service manager tells me the stain has seep into the paint already....and they will have to repaint the panel.....i was shocked at his recoomendation since the car is only two weeks old at the time.......i requested to talk to the body shop manager at the dearlership....and he brought the car back to the shop and tried to take the stain out.....he came back and the stain was much lighter.....but still visible......he said that is the best they can do. my questions: - is tree zap brown in color? - can a stain penetrate the paint that easily? - any suggestion to remove this stain? ...without repainting the side panel? - as i run my hand over the stain area, it now is rough where they have applied whatever solvent on the sruface while the other surface on the car is smooth ....feels like they have taken the polish off at the stain area.....how should i patch this rough area with protection? thanks for all your help.!!
