  1. the distributor is that black opctopus looking think with all the wires coming out of it that go into ur spark plugs.....Take it appart and blowdry everything in there....never hose the engine like that. When you clean your engine u have to be careful with electronic components if its just water it should be ok, it definitely sounds like your timing (distributor problem) so thats probably what did it....if it got really wet I would change the rotor too just to be safe...it slike 15 bucks in auto part ..its inside distributor
  2. Ok dont worry about your name being on the title, thats granted/obvious. There should be some lines in the bottom of the tittle or in the back that says something like sell to: or something to that effect. Unfortunately I cant remember what it says exactly....you will see like a bunch of lines that look like signature lines. Just fill out the info that says something like seller (thats you) and put the buyers name and adress or whatever it asks....just look for lines somwhwere in the title...if all this fails I would suggest to go to a Title Office and have them explain what to do, they will do it for free ;) Dont worry about the tags and all that, the state will issue a new title to the new owner, but thats his problem....as long as you sign it off to him you are free of liability
  3. The process is prety simple/straightforward. If the title is under your name already, simply sign it off to him, thats all. You dont need a notary or anything. I would also make him sign a paper that says he accepts vehicle 'as is'. You can type this document yourself. This is incase he burns out the engine or something and then tries to blame you or make you responsible. That way if he ever takes you to court the judge would dismiss the case immediately on your favor. But yes, just sign the thing off and your done. The car is no longer yours! Is up to him to keep the title in a safe place and get it re-registered under his name with which ever state he lives in.
  4. Well, I bought a nice set of Lexus GS400 wheels on eBay for $500 bucks with tires, so I got an awesome deal....not to mention it included shipping! WOW....well better than stock wheels, I like them they are nicer than I thought.... Anyhow, I wanted to know if I could slap some 245 on 17x8 ....will the 245 work for 8" wide rims? Or is it better to keep them at the recommended 235?? What is the thickest tire I can slap on a 8" wide rim??? Anyone go 245 on an 8"?? Let me know thanks!
  5. >>>>>>>>>Speed tip>>>>>>>>>>> RFZ3410 by Rockford Fosgate fits right in, its discontinued but u can find it on ebay. Just put Rockford 3410 in search field. This is what Im using sounds great but u would need to upgrade your amp. Recommend proffessional installation unless ur good with stereos. Or, simply go to a stereo shop with your old speaker already off and start trying free airs on. Free air speakers are not expensive (too expensive that is) so just keep trying them on until u find a good fit. Remember that original sub has a frame that you have to put on which ever speaker u buy. When trying out speaers always put on the little frame (u dont have to put all screws) but always do this to get an idea of how it will fit. Hope this helps!
  6. Hello, I had that problem when I purchased my sc, its ot a big deal. U can buy those units rebuilt and work just as good....dont bother will the dealer, u will pay 3 times as much for the same thing. I replaced mine installed and everything for $350...thats cheap....dont bubble gum-it, take that thing off and replace it. :D
  7. yeah what happened???? Ive been looking forward to this all week lol
  8. No problem glad I could help a fellow SC'er You can use any name brand 4 inchers, just dont use any cheap stuff. By ur equipment once is what I always say. What I am using are Rockford Fosgate Fanatic Q FNQ2404 They handle up to 100 Watts each so they are mean little 4 inchers. They are really ear piercing BUT u will need a better amp, nothing crazy, just a better than stock amp...40 watts x 4 will be enough but buy a realiable brand of amp...I have a Kenwood 40 X 4 and is enough. Cheap brands of amps may say 40 Watts x 4 but in reality are like 15 Watts x 4, so dont buy cheap anything. As far as the sub I bough a Rockford model too, bad news its discontinued but you can find them at ebay I used rfz3410. It sounds great, but u wont hear it blocks down the road. Just inside the cabin it sounds 20x better. But if u want like huge bass u would have to go witha box in the trunk and other speakers. THis model fits right in stock hole. they are cheap too. But there are others that could fit, u just have to try them on... ok good luck!
  9. It sounds like ur about to encounter the stereo monster that I encountered when I decided my sc's stereo system just sucked a** so I am going to prepare u mentally B) Ok, first to start off with your Hi's (small speakers) you can basically swap them out and get better sound without having to replace your amp... If you just want a slightly better sound simply buy 4 name brand 4" speakers that are NOT meant to handle alot of watts and you will be in business. The reason you dont want to buy a really fancy, high performance 4" is that if you do, the stock amp will not be able to push them properly n thus your system will sound actually worse. On that note here are the obstacles u will encounter with your Subwoofer-- the infamous 10"--- 1st problem: Not just ny 10" will fit there. 2nd problem: If you find one that fits it must be a free air speaker for it to sound good. 3rd problem: Stock amp is Not going to push any name brand free air subs. Solution: First go to a stereo shop and find a sub that fits in the stock hole by trial n error. Now, theres a braket that is attached to the stock speaker that you must take out and adapt to what ever sub u are going to put in so before you even go to the stereo shop, take off the speaker AND the braket, then when u try on the speaker mount the braket on which ever speaker you try on so u can get a feel for the actual fit. Once u find the speaker u will need to buy another amp. Get a 2 channel I say 200 W tops (when bridged to 1 channel). This is what u will need to push that new sub. And finally go to that stereo shop and have that amp and speaker proffessionaly connected (unless ur good with stereo systems and can do urslef). I actually went an extra step and bought 4 really good 4" Speakers, and a good 4 channel amp to push them and my stereo is on steroids now. I cant even put it half way cos my ears hurt, so ull be happy. In conclusion if ur going to upgrade ur system do it once and do it right. And be aware of what is going to take, just replacing the speakers isnt going to cut it, SPECIALLY for the sub which is going to sound horredous if u dont spike up the power by changing the amp. So make sure you have the time and money. I spent like $500 total installed and everything but I did some good "smart" shopping. You can easily spend alot more so be careful. Also if u decide to do the amp(s) thing be patient, dont expect to do everything in one day cos something will always go wrong. Murphys Law always strikes whenu are working on a car lol Good luck!
  10. I have an sc300 5 spd and I raced an RSX and beat it off the hole.... All i have is BFI and it had exhaust from what I could tell and maybe intake... I took it for about 2 cars in the begining but to my surprise as we went over 100mph the *BLEEP* was catching up, slowly but was catching up.... I went to 135 n he still couldnt catch me so I stoped racing, but he was on my a**...I could have gone faster I dont know about him though....I thought those cars were faster they are not all that... And YES get the results and race that SOB....those cars r NOT all that, just go light n do bfi....good luck
  11. Hey I like the spoiler pak....how much $$$ is it going to cost? And does it come primed or painted?? Also where r u going to buy?? Thanks!
  12. K thanks, I was wondering like WTF....... guy does good ac work but thats about it!
  13. AWJ, umm excuse my ignorance, but in laymen's terms, does it have 1 or 2 fans? lol with what that first guy said and what u said im all confused!
  14. The drivers seat is not supposed to be automatic like passengers....its a safety issue thats why it wasnt manyfacured that way, i read it somewhere cant remember where
  15. I just got my AC juiced up and the Ac guy told me that my car was missing a fan.....I was like jigga whooo>??? I have the large engine fan that is inside engine housing, but he said there was supposed to be another fan in front of the radiator. I was like I didnt know that, but somehow this sounds fishy...This car was in an accident before I bought it so I guess it 'plausible' but I have never heard of 2 fans in an sc300 so someone pls fill me in.... Are there 2 freaking fans and my car is running retardad?// Or is this guy full of it and doesnt know what hes talking about..... Thanks guys!
  16. I wouldnt even though these r great cars I would save a little money and get one with less miles. 208k is a veteran regardless of what brand a car is. Cars dont only suffer engine wise but tranny wise and all the other stuff in general.. I would save some more $$ and get one with less miles. look arround and dont be afraid to offer...even if they ask $6000 or whatever them them ull give them $4k , who cares....u never know who needs the money or just wants to put a down on a new ride :)
  17. Well I feel it all depends how much bass u want...if u want to be heard 3 blocks down the road then get them in the trunk 2 10"s or 2 12"s will be enough. THeres no way a little free air sub is going to make that much bass anyhow. But if you want just excellent cabin bass (and perhaps some good BBQ music) then go for the free air. I went free air cos I dont care if everyone arround me can hear me with their windows up, as long as I can feel the bass and some good hi's im happy. I replaced with an rfz 2210 (but dont quote me, Im not sure), however it is discontinued so ull have to look for another alternative....trick is clearance....not just any sub will fit....best bet go to a local stereo store and tell those guys u want a free air spk and start trying them on.....remember, the stock speaker has a frame that has to be put on the other 10" sub u buy, and that jacks up the speaker a little bit so keep that in mind. Ivve heard of ppl compaling about putting box in trunk and hearing gas moving arround as well as other road noise....and if u have aver removed that free air speaker and drove without it u would know exactly what they are talking about :) Unless u plan on having the radio up all the time then i guess u couldnt hear the road or gas lol..but if your planing on having a conversation with a hot chick u dont want to hear rocks and gas moving arround hope u solve ur problem! I went through hell to get my stereo upgraded!
  18. Hey BlackSC I noticed u said you took out the resonators out of your stock mufflers/exhaust....is this correct? If so how much did u pay and does it sound nice? Im thinking, if u can take the resonators out of our stock mufflers so they can sound louder maybe all I will need is to cut off the stock tips in addition to that and I will be rolling with a new exhaust B)
  19. Ive hit 140 Just the other day could have gone faster but dont know just how much more....Cars seemed like they were standing still so I figured it was a good time to stop :whistles:
  20. Hey if u can post some pics of ur ride with those mods...Im sure many of us woul dlike to see how they look ;)
  21. Cool thanks for the tips...I may just get my rotors cut, and hold off on the new rotors ....i have little shake in my pedal so hopefully that will go away....if not I guess Ill have to slap on those new babies
  22. Hello guys, where do u purchase ur brake pads and rotors? I want good quality but dont want to get a** raped by Lexus either. Any info appreciated! Oh yeah...and how much should I expoect to pay for the pads and rotors!
  23. YEP, I would save.....but if u really want to shut someone up that isnt much competition drop a bottle on your ride and spray him ....... with 100 shot I dont even think you have to change ur ignition so thats pretty good....
  24. :o I just found the stock knob on eBay....just do a search under supra shift knobs....some guy has every color (although I dont remember seeing tan) on the same same stock knob BRAND NEW...... Only problem is at the attractive price of $75 + Shipping!!! Damn....I probably would have bought it if I had not spent so much money on cheap knobs... Not to mention the butload of $bling$ I have spent on my stereo upgrade.... Damn, damn damn..I want that damn knob! :cries: Thanks ppls!
  25. Guys, Does the S2000 knob fit our SC's perfectly???? The supra (at least those that I have seen) are kinda ugly..they look like a little ball...I like the joystick look.... thanks!
