  1. Awesome! Please keep the pics coming for those who are finding them! My dealer here in Houston is still saying mid Sept. for them to start coming in. I went in to talk to the sales guide one day last week and she showed me the information she had on them and the new look is great. The one picture she showed me had some really nice wheels that looked more like 18s than 17s. We'll see,
  2. In my experience with Michelin MXV4s they don't wear out - they just get hard. I had them on a Mercedes S500 and replaced them at around 60,000 miles because they were just hard, but the tread was still fine. They are a great touring tire. As far as low profile tires go Steve is right - it depends on the car, the brand and how you drive. I had a '96 Volvo 850R that had 205/45-17 Pirelli P-Zero tires fitted from the factory. They lasted all of 8,000 miles. I replaced them with Dunlops that were the same size same speed rating and they were good for close to 20K. Things have probably increased in quality since then and there should be plenty of 17" tires that aren't "speedy" tires on the market now (especially since things like Dodge trucks have 20s on them now!). My advice is take care of the tires that it comes with until they need to be replaced. At that time evaluate how well they performed for you and purchase new tires accordingly. Just remember that the old addage "You get what you pay for" isn't especially true for tires. Just my $0.02
  3. You shouldn't necessarily trust a carfax report, although they have a guarantee. I owned a Land Rover Defender 90 that was in a major collision while I owned it (over $25K in damage w/out totalling it). It has never shown up on Carfax. Even a novice with a very slight amount of body work knowledge can spot a repaired car. Two tell-tale signs are tape lines inside the doors or jams and alignment bolts under the hood on the inside of the fender. If the car is close to you I would actually take it on a test drive to a body shop and get them to look at it for you. They WILL be able to tell if it has been wrecked. You'll only buy one wrecked POS before you go to great lengths before you consider buying another used car. Hope it works out - sounds like a steal!
  4. Here's the email I got back from my sales guide, > From: ***********@northsidelexus.com > Date: Tue Aug 5, 2003 10:15:05 AM US/Central > To: kevin@collinsorganization.com > Subject: Re: Lexus > Kevin, > We actually got word this morning in our monthly meeting. 5. WOW! Those pictures look great! I am for sure waiting now for an '04. I'm going to email those pictures to my sales guide and see what she thinks - she didn't know about a facelift for '04 when we spoke last.
  6. The dealer I've been talking to (Northside Lexus in Houston) told me to expect $2500-$3000 off of the '04 when they arrive...no different than they are talking about on the '03s they have in stock now. Now whether or not that materializes or not I don't know...but I'd think that if not they wouldn't lie and would rather me buy the '03 now that the '04 in a few months...but who knows?
  7. I guess I should introduce myself first off. My name is Kevin and I live in the Houston area. I've been looking at dumping my Range Rover and going back to a large car (before it I had a Mercedes S-Class). I just figured I'd get another S500 but when I drove them I just didn't like it as much as the one I had before so I looked at the BMW 745Li and the new Audi A8L. A friend of mine is on his 4th Lexus and he told me I really should go look at the LS before I decide. So more to just rule it out I went and to my amazement I was trilled with the car. I have since looked at it twice more and each time I like it more. My question is... What is going to be new if anything on the '04 model? I'm thinking of putting off the purchase a little longer since we are so close to the new model year. Thanks in advance for the replies. I'm sure this board will be a wealth of knowledge and a source of new friends once I pull the trigger on the purchase. Thanks, Kevin
