  1. Omar: Seriously, try www.car-part.com. I just did a search for 2004-2005 Lexus LS430 seats near Athens GA (30601) and found many within 1-3 hours of you.
  2. If you do wind up needing a new ECM, consider using www.car-part.com to find junkyards that have the ECM. If you cannot find the ECM as a part to search, then call ones that also have, for instance, the ECU.
  3. You can buy one on www.car-part.com for anywhere between $60 and $250 then have a local mechanic install it. I did the search for you so those are the prices I'm seeing for your LS400. Hope this helps!
  4. I really like www.car-part.com for used parts. They've got all types of stuff and you can even narrow down what geographic region/state/city. It's like a nationwide junk yard...
  5. I have a 2001 LS430 and I have reset the AC filter warning, but still need to change the filter. I ordered the filter and have it in-hand, but need to know how to replace it. Is there a panel at the back of one of the glove compartments? Just trying to save the $87 that the dealer wants to change it... Thanks in advance, Sonny
  6. I did a long road trip and tried both premium and regular unleaded in my 01 LS430 Ultra and there was no difference in fuel economy. I drive with cruise control and am a !Removed! about watching my average fuel efficiency while driving and keeping all records, so I was very interested to see if it made a difference. What really does make a difference is switching from going 70mph to 80mph - there are some nonlinear aero drag things going on there such that the 15% increase in speed results in a lot more than 15% drag. As for the oil - I'm curious if anyone knows the Mobil One synthetic recommended oil change interval. I brought Mobil One into the Lexus dealership and now 5k later they say it doesn't make a difference - that I should still change the oil every 5k or 6 months. Are there any official sources on this? I'll be calling my warranty company to see if they have guidelines...
  7. Don't forget to check www.car-part.com for a great selection of junk yard parts.
  8. What's the frequency if you use Mobil 1 synthetic? If I live in Seattle, WA then what grade is recommended?
  9. Is it easy enough to remove the overhead control unit? I am having my LS430 delivered tomorrow and I noticed that problem when I inspected the car. Jim, thanks for the advice on how to remove the unit. I took it apart and found a crack in the plunger that latched the sunglass holder. A bit of super glue, sanding and buffing and it works like new. Saved $900+ and took less than an hour.
  10. Thanks for the info. I'm sorta like another guy on the site - between keeping it and selling it. My work is moving to the Bronx later this year so perhaps it would make sense to keep it. Where did you have your sway bars and other upgrades done? I'd imagine not at Lexus of Manhattan. Lastly, I have two bumps that I'd like to have taken care of. I'm also planning on replacing my left mirror with one from car-part.com. So I'll need a good body shop that will color match well and, hopefully, is affordable too. Any suggestions?
  11. I have a 1998 GS300 that spent most of its life in San Diego, California away from snow. It has 110k on it and I'm going to be selling it for $15-16k. I'll be in Hampton, VA for the weekend.
  12. Are there some different taillights available somewhere? Can someone upgrade the 98 tail lights to the newer look?
  13. Does anyone know of a place near Manhattan (NYC) to get work done on a 1998 Lexus GS300? I need bodywork, engine work, and detailing done. Also, I'm interested in upgrades, too.
  14. I have a bunch of condensation in both main headlights. It makes the headlights look cloudy and horrible. I put the blue halogens in from Walmart so I wonder if I didn't seal it well and/or the bulbs caused it. Any ideas on what to do?
