  1. Hi there, I have a new LS460 with the ML stereo (2 days old). The first thing I noticed when I turned on the radio was that the sound quality is much worse with XM than the radio or CDs. I have not tried to burn music to the HDD yet. I am not sure why this is but I definitely hear a huge difference with the satellite radio and I am a bit disappointed. By far the best sound comes from my CDs, second is FM and worst is XM. Katherine Not an expert on the subject, but I know from experience that satellite radio sound quality is inferior to CD's and FM for that matter. My past experience with Sirius was better than XM, but neither compare to CD or FM quality. I believe it has something to do with sound compression. I have an 09 LS460L with ML system sounds much better than the Bose systems in my 07 Denali and 06 Vette. Despite this, CD's and FM still exhibit much better sound quality in all of my cars.
  2. This week I purchased a new LS430 and opted for the dealer installed SIRIUS radio. As it turns out, the dealer didn't have the parts in stock before I took delivery. Since getting the car, I have read several posts indicating the installation isn't quite as integrated as I thought it would be. To begin, I've learned it still requires a separate antenna. In addition, I also heard the SIRIUS receiver attaches to the rear of the existing radio. Needless to say, the prospect of having a service technician tear the dashboard of my new LS apart gives me chills. Learning this, I called my salesman. He told me the XM radio installation is confined strictly to the trunk area. He said the receiver is located in the trunk and the antenna is placed inside the car near the 3rd brakelight. Supposedly, this results in completely eliminating the need to do anythng inside or under the dashboard. Is this so? Are there already existing connectors located in the trunk of an 06 LS430 that accept the XM receiver? If so, does the antenna plug into the receiver that's placed in the trunk and where exactly is it placed. I've asked for a refund, but if it's as simple as the salesman makes it sound, I may reconsider the XM in place of the SIRIUS. If anyone has had this installation done on their new LS, I'd appreciate hearing from them
  3. According to the Navigation Manual, the screen can only display 10 characters for the XM installation. Presumably the same applies for the Sirius installation. BTW, what was involved in the installation process? I'm due to have a Sirius receiver installed in my new LS430. The dealer had to order it so it wasn't installed before I picked it up. Now I'm concerned about them having to tear the dash apart. Also, where is the antenna installed? I was told it goes on the inside of the wiinsheild. Is it on the left side of the rearview mirror?
