    Hd Tv's

So much for "experts" This is such bullcrap... First off, all HDTV units show 4:3 television in the "wide screen" format and you don't need to have the black bars there... Second, assuming you watch any TV with black bars, including DLP, for thousands and thousands of hours, there may be some burn in on any TV. The real answer is: it depends. If you're going above 50", DLP is fine. Below that, LCD offers the thin screens (very cool) and wonderful picture rendition. Plasma is OK too, but the screen life is somewhat lower. Just go to the store and buy what you like. Just buy brand names, only... you get what you pay for...
  2. At about 12,500 miles, the car developed a heavy rumble that went up and down in volume and pitch with speed. I took it to Park Place Lexus in Grapevine, TX, and a technician said it was the Yokohama tires. He showed me how the front edge of each raised segment was higher than the back edge. The dealer was willing to buy 2 if I buy the other two. Aside from an initial lack of interest on the part of the dealership and Lexus itself, I eventually contacted Cam Mayfield, service director. He was very helpful, and explained the reason for the 2 tires is that the Yokohamas are designed to give you just 15K to 20K miles because they're soft and quiet... that's it. So I'm buying two, but I'm putting Bridgestone Turanza LS-V tires, that I've been very happy with. I'm still floored that the OEM tires should only last 20K miles or less. Does that make sense to you? George
  3. I don't feel like spending $150 for the 10K oil change, even with tire rotation and a cookie... I trust my Firestone neighborhood shop, but Firestone can do it for models earlier than 2006, but not mine. I've seen the procedure for other model years (odometer on, engine off, press key, turn on, hold for 7 seconds, etc.), but it doesn't seem to work for the 2006. The procedure, according to the manual, works for the OIL MAINT RESET warning, but this requires to reset the OIL MAINT RQD first, and that procedure is not listed. Can someone help? Thanks, George
  4. I own a 2006 GS300, the first GS with a 6-speed transmission. I'm getting great mileage if I'm to believe the computer. This morning I tanked up at a gas station by the Bush Turnpike in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I entered the highway almost immediately and drove about 25 miles to work. By this time, the computer was showing an average of 35.8 mpg, and I hit 36 at some point. How accurate is the car's computer? I can see the computer knowing that it got a full tank, and starts the calculation... but how does it precisely know how much gas is being used on the fly? Argie
