  1. LOL, i'm looking back at my question...it was pretty silly about the airbags, but better to be safe than sorry.
  2. I have my car lifted up in the air, with all 4 tires off the ground. Can I start the car to idle it a bit? Will the car sense that it's off the ground and will the airbags deploy? I'm pretty sure it's safe to start the car while it's lifted off the ground, but can someone confirm this? Thanks, Konstantin
  3. Hey folks, How can you tell if you're ball joints are good or bad without taking it to Lexus? I've taken my car in to Lexus many times and they said nothing about this. I have 107K miles on my 1998 gs400 and if I hadn't read this thread here, I would not have even known about this potential problem. How can I tell if the ball joints on my GS400 are good or bad without taking it to Lexus? Thanks Konstantin
  4. 2006 SL500 160mph on I-5 to VEGAS..smooth ride (The speedometer only goes to 160, so we may have gone even faster) 1998 GS400 130mph on San Mateo-Hayward Bridge in SF Bay Area...very smooth ride and dead straight and level.
  5. I don't think I can lower it. It would scrape against the wheel well. Correct me if I'm wrong?
  6. If I have 1998 GS400, is the FM transmitter my only option? The SoundLinq looks like its for 2001+...
  7. Yeh I will have to do that in case of a flat. But is that what most people here (who put on larger, aftermarket rims) do? Or do they get a full size spare?
  8. Recently, my battery had died. After a friend of mine recharged it and we restarted the car, the VSC and ABS lights came on and stayed on. The next morning the lights were off when I started up the car. Does anyone know why the lights turned off after the car being off overnight. Was the computer reset or something? Hoping to learn. Thanks.
  9. Hey guys, After some work I managed to put on 20" rims on my 1998 gs400. Here's a pic: No problems so far. There is some rubbing, but only if I turn my wheels all the way while going in reverse. QUESTION: I need a spare wheel just in case I get a flat. The outside diameter of the tire is 26". I don't want to use the stock spare which is too small and can really mess up the differential. Any advice? Konstantin
  10. I removed the rotors from the rear, but there was not enough room to change the studs without removing the hub/axle assembly. On the front, I was NOT able to remove the assembly that holds the caliper because the two (17mm?) bolts that connect the caliper assembly to the car were WAY TOO TIGHT. We tried breaker bar, 3 ft pipe, air impact wrench, but nothing worked. The only thing we did not try was torching/heating the bolt and surrounding metal. The two bolts don't seem to be stripped, as we can get a good grip on them. Any suggestions on how to remove them?
  11. I believe the studs are connected to the hub. Do you think I will be able to knock them out and replace them with ones that are a few millimeters longer? Will a hammer work? Or will I need some kind of torch? Will there be enough room with the dust cover in place?
  12. Hi folks, I need to replace the studs on my 1998 gs400. In the rear, I managed to take off the calipers, but was unable to take off the rotor/hub assembly to remove the studs. I saw two holes where I guess you have to screw in to push the rotor out...am I correct? What tool do I need to finish the job? Thanks! Konstantin
