  1. I had this problem too. Over a pot hole. Over a speed bump. Into or out of the driveway. I turned out to be my EMERGENCY BRAKE! It was locked up and the cable and emergency brake parts were skqueaking and clanking around. It was annoying. It was a simple fix. I sometimes get a rattling vibration from the heatshields, but this is more often at a stop light, when the car is in idle. But this niose is nothing like the squeaks and clanks you descibe. GOOD LUCK!
  2. Go to www.lexus.com and under the Certified Pre-Owned tab (at the top) is a choice called "model library". You can research past models and their features.
  3. Try another Lexus dealer or speak to someone else. I had the same problem on my 99 LX. It was under warranty when the clips broke. They replaced them. They were different clips (updated version) but fit into the existing area. No new console.
  4. We are looking at a 2003 LX to replace our 1999 LX. I noticed when you put the car in reverse, the doors automatically lock. Then, when you park, they don't unlock. The driver and passenger door unlock when you open the inside handle. However, unless I unlock the car from inside, I can't open the back doors (where my kids are in car seats) or the rear hatch from the outside. Can this option be turned off? I don't want to have to use the unlock button every time I get out of the car. The manual is not in the car so I haven't been able to read about it. Thank you!
  5. We had this problem too. Lexus replaced the unit and said it was very sensitive to the CDs you burn at home vs. original CDs. They explained there is just enough of a difference between the two, that it made the unit jam. I'm not sure I buy that explanation :) But it was under warranty, so I really didn't ask to many questions. It happened to us on a 13-hour drive home from the beach. That was a quite drive! They had to send the unit back to the manufacturer and they sent us the CDs by mail.
  6. Hello! Just found this forum last night and can't wait to get started. We currently have a 99 LX470, almost at 90K miles. We are not the original owners, but have had it for 4 years. Our '99 had some serious hydraulic/suspension problems fixed under warranty. That was 2 years ago and it's starting again. The parts replaced are no longer warranted. Also, we're nearing the 90k maint. - inlcuding the timing belt - ugh... and are not sure what else we'll be in store for. Also, we'll be needing tires and brakes. Sooooo, if the suspension wasn't acting up, we'd probably feel more confortable putting the money in the car. But we LOVE it, regardless of past problems :), and can't find anything else we'd rather drive. We're considering a 2003. Does anyone have this year, if so are you happy? We've tried to search old topics to make sure we're not repeating: 1. Any problems with the 2003? 2. Does anyone know what colors it came in (looking at the sand dollar??? it's kind of white - but saw a silver one with tan/ivory inside and wondered what year it was). 3. What version of navigation does the '03 have? 4. Were there any majors changes form '99 to '03? 5. Does night vision really help? Thanks to anyone who can help!
