  1. If theres nothing mechanically wrong, I would guess it would be the tires. How did they "rotate" the tires? Was it from front to rear, or left to right? We usually swap the tires left to right and see if pulls the other way. If it pulls the other way, we replace the tires.
  2. This is actually the norm now in todays cars. However if you feel you need to do the service, you can try and do it. There is a fill hole, drain hole, and an overflow tube hole. Personally I would never try this myself as underfilling or overfilling can be bad for the transmission. It is a bit of a process, kind of typical such as level surface, use the correct fluid, fill pan til it starts to trickle out the overflow tube, plug overflow hole , fill transmission, circulate fluid, get fluid to certain temperature, check fluid level, add more fluid if necessary. To be honest, the only time we've ever done a transmission fill on an IS was when a customer doing his own oil change drained the transmission instead. Good luck.
  3. If the nav can't find your house, have you tried to register your home as a memory point and name the memory point as "home"?
  4. If you're getting poor reception, check your rear glass. The antenna is bult into the rear glass. In the upper corner of the glass on the inside is the antenna amplifier. Poor contact between the amplifier and the glass can cause poor reception.
  5. Disregard the retail cds for now as not all of them have cd text. Lets start with your burned audio cds. When you burned your audio cds, did you enable/include cd text under your options/preferences? Generally cd text is not checked unless you select it.
  6. You could ask the body shop about trying to blend it, but its going to depend on the skill of the paint shop.
  7. THe tire monitor is looking for the missing tire sensor. It knows the vehicle should have five, and since one is missing, it thinks its malfunctioning. Tire monitoring is a federal requirement. Even if you find a cheaper sensor, you still have to bring back to a Lexus dealer to have the new sensor registered.
  8. You may want to check the lines to the charcoal canister. Most likely its the charcoal canister that needs to be replaced.
  9. Body side mouldings are attached by tape. They come prepainted if you order from Lexus.
  10. Please read page 203 in your owners manual or do a search for cd text in this forum.
  11. Ridiculous price, but the wiring is partially correct. Lexus vehicles are not prewired for satellite radio. In most Lexus vehicles, wire has to be run to the front head unit, but not in the IS. All wiring work is done in the trunk area. Satellite install in the IS is one of the easier installs compared to the RX, where the vehicle has to partially gutted. If you got the install instructions, you could probably do it yourself. The kit does not come with instructions.
  12. Without the retrofit kit, tthere's no way to securely hold the spare tire in place, unless you don't mind having the spare lying in the trunk. I suggest looking on ebay. You can get the kits off ebay, but they're no bargain either.
  13. Unfortunately, the display is limited to only 10 characters.
  14. According to the owners manual, hitting the DISC-AUX should display title and track info, if the disc is encoded.
  15. Yeah but these CD's in question show the information when I play them on my PC at home so they must be coded unless there's something I don't understand about that. In order for artist name and track to appear, cd needs to be encoded with cd text. As for the "information" appearing on your pc, that is not the same thing. Was your pc connected to the internet while you were playing the cd in your media player? Media players such as WMP, Itunes, etc don't used cd text. They access an online database such as Gracenote (formerly CDDB) to provide artist, track, time, songwriter, etc. As for your IS, you may simply need to turn on the cd text feature. Some of the earlier models required pushing a "text" button. Not familiar with the 2008 IS system, sorry. Might be able to look it up tomorrow.
  16. No. You have generation 3 nav system. That particular disc is for vehicle with the generation 4 system.
  17. WOW i just checked it and it's FILTHY! I never thought to check it today because i checked it in the fall and it was perfectly clean, and it hadn't been cleaned since 2005. I have NO idea how it got so filthy in 6 months when it stayed clean for 2 years... But nevertheless i cleaned it (best i can do for the night) and will see if it still smells tomorrow. HOPEFULLY it rains! Only thing that stumps me is why this only seems to happen when it's raining out. Could the moisture in the air be the cause? I recommend you replace the ac filter every 10-15,000 miles, instead of just cleaning it. You also may want to try some Frigi Fresh. Its used by most dealerships, and works pretty well. I've also read some people have used a product called Ozium, but I don't have any experience with that product.
  18. Have you checked your cabin a/c filter?
  19. Its not much but may help. RX300_AUDIO.pdf
  20. Have you taken the tire to Bridgestone? They are the one who ultimately warranties the tire. Car manufactures do NOT warranty tires. Of course if the damage is in the bead aea, my guess even they would say improper mounting. Had the same problem awhile back with Michelin.
  21. $1400 is the correct list price for the windshield. Lexus windshields are very expensive and your insurance company knows that. Insurance companies are fairly up to date with part prices as they deal with them everday in dealing with body shops.
  22. Lexus tells me that the rims are 'aftermarket' and therefore not warrantable, even though they were dealer installed?? I'm now looking for aftermarket wheels, but in my initial readings, this isn't going to be easy, eiher. I'd advise anyone to steer clear of what the dealers are offering. Thanks Bob Thats just wrong. If its a dealer accessory offered by Lexus and installed by a Lexus dealership, it should be covered. I'd recommend you call Lexus for help.
  23. No fuse. B1S1 is between the engine and firewall.
  24. 90919-02234 is no longer available. If you order that number, you will get 90080-19016. Are you positive its a 1999 model year?
  25. I'm told that the rack & pinion assembly is being changed out. I'm very sure that they would not change a 2K + part out if it was a sensor that had failed. What do you think?? They would replace the rack if it was a torque senor circuit failure as the torque sensor is built into the rack, and it sounds like thats what failed if you have a heavy steering issue.
