  1. It's hard not to be disappointed and utterly frustrated with this experience. Lexus Customer Service has been very vague with their response. Since we have communicated that this is a 'Lemon' and we need a replacement all the I heard from them that this is a 'Buy-Back' situation. What is buy-back? How long does it take? What are the terms? etc...The only answer we get is.. this is going to take time. Moreover, the only way I can get any information is if I initiate a call. There has been no formal written communication from the Company acknowledging this issue. I feel the whole Lexus Experience is a MYTH and this Company is no different from any other I know when there are problems. In the meantime the factory rep is working with the dealership and the latest I heard (again after I called to get the status) from the Service Manager is they want to replace the seat which is now on order.......sigh!!!!!! Thats how we fixed our problem, by replacing the drivers seat.
  2. If the abs is activating on its own, then its either bad speed sensor or worse, need an axle shaft.
  3. Since the vehicle didn't come with the tow prep, he's actually missing the relays. Two relays are needed for the underhood fuse box and one for the tow converter box which I believe is in the rear under the tail lamp .
  4. Looks like the same code we had, but it was actually B0116 for the driver seat. Not sure if there is a B0016. Would be curious to see and compare what their resolution would be. Like I said, we went through the same issue ourselves. As far as I can see our customer has not been back for the same issue.
  5. This situation is very similar to the problem we had here probably a month ago. Same year and model vehicle. Customer was complaining about the SRS light flashing. If you have the trouble code, I could see if its the same. The trouble code we had actually referred to the SRS in the driver seat. We found a bad connector under the seat, which we replaced but unfortunately it was only a temporary fix. It was eventually fixed and customer has not come back with that complaint. It can be frustrating, but when you consider the amount wiring, connectors, computers, sensors in a car, it can be time consuming and frustrating even for the shop, plus the phone calls between manufacturer and the shop as they try to diagnose the problem.
  6. Palm bluetooth has always been hit or miss, since the Treo 650 days. Just because it says bluetooth, doesn't mean their compatible. Treos are not listed as compatible on the Lexus website. If you check with the Palm Treo forum sites, such as Treocentral, you'll see all sorts of compatibility issues with cars, headsets, etc.
  7. Actually you're in luck. Lexus just released the Sirius radio for the 2007 IS and ES. Enjoy.
  8. Did you pair the new phone to the car? May not matter, but you could also delete the old phone from the car.
  9. I picked up my 2007 IS350, a week ago. At that time i had the Treo 700wx with Sprint. This phone would pair but that's it. And once you walked out of range it would not reconect. This phone sync's with my work Exchange account and had about 150 contacts in it that i really wanted to load into the car's phone book. But this was just not happening with the Treo. After looking through the bluetooth phone list on Lexus's website i settled on the Blackberry pearl with T-Mobile. 10 minutes after pairing it with the car the complete address book was bluetooth transferred to the car. It reconnects without issue and all in all works quite well. The biggest complaint i have is that most people report that they can barely hear me although i can hear them just fine. I have a call into the dealership to see if it is possible to up the gain on the microphone. -Mike They can adjust up. We've done it, but would recommend not to max it out as it would probably result in echoing.
  10. For palm phones, you need to check treocentral or mytreo. They may be able to help those who have issues. Unfortunately most issues don't have solutions. There's a reason why palm is not listed on the Lexus site. The bluetooth in Palms are pretty buggy and hit or miss.
  11. Many valid points, especially the dash rattles and cheap tires. Its funny though, that you mention you didn't buy the vehicle for gas mileage and then complain about it, but the gas mileage issue is not new. When the first hybrids came out from Honda and Toyota, people noticed that the mileage was nowhere near the stated fuel economy. People tend to forget that the fuel economy standard is derived from a close to 30 year old controlled test procedure in a controlled enviroment. Unfortunately, it's results are skewed in favor of hybrids. If you see www.epa.gov, a new a fuel economy standard has been implemented for 2008 that will revise the fuel economy numbers for all vehicles, gas and hybrid. Personally, I'm not a fan of full hybrids. I prefer hybrid lites since it fits my driving habits.
  12. I believe the seat sensing is for the passenger seat. Can't see the driver seat being unoccupied. Don't confuse side airbags with curtain airbags. The side airbags are in the Lexus seats to protect your torso. The curtain airbags are in the edge of the headliner and will protect your head.
  13. You're looking for cd text which will display album title, song title, etc. CD text can be added to a burned cd. You just have to select the add cd text from the option list. If you rip a retail audio cd, only the audio gets ripped, unless your software ripper can read the cd's .ini files. The cd burning software will have to access some online database such as CDDB, iTunes, etc to fill in the missing information. This normally happens anyway when to you rip songs to your media library. In order for this to work, you need a cd player/burner that supports cd text and media player that also supports cd text. Unfortunately WMP does not support cd text. iTunes and Nero support cd text. Not sure if Nero express supports cd text though.
  14. Actually there would be serious issues. First the car was crash tested with that particular seat design with that vehicle. If you change it, there is no guarantee that the safety system would function as well. Second, the seats have side airbags in them as well as all the seat motors. Would they still function? They may have different connectors, voltage requirements, etc. Swapping seats may sound easy, but in the big picture its not. I understand where you're coming from, I'm 6' and my brother is 6'1".
  15. the 2004 map has 100% more data than the original 2000 wheras the 2006 map has only about 10% more new info than the 2004 map. when the 2000 lexus ls and gs had navigation not one toyota model did and only a few bmw acura mercedes had them . the amount of map data aDDED between 2000 and 2004 was huge. ALSO ALL THE NEW NAVIAGTION SYSTEMS IN JAPAN ARE GOING BACK TO DISC DRIVE and away from dvd MAPS so someday the table may be turned and disc drive update will be easier to get than the by then antique dvd maps. Yes the updates for the hard drive based system on the new LS460 will be easier as the updates will be downloaded at the dealership and there should be plenty of capacity for some time. Unfortunately the first generation has reached the limit of its technology. The system came out in 1998 and had a total capacity of 1.6GB. Current maps and updates are 2.0+ GB. Maybe someday, the navigation system will be linked to the Lexus Link system so that the map resides on the network rather than in the car, like the way its done with Sprint and Verizon wireless.
  16. Not worth the money to update for the hard drive based systems. They've stopped updating the hard drives. The most current data for the hard drive system is July 2004.
  17. Not sure if this is a solution, but do you have a Vaistech module in your vehicle? I believe darylhuff has one and that might be the problem. Over at clublexus, if you do a search, some of the recent vaistech modules have been causing problems with the bluetooth. According to Vaistech, its supposed to be a firmware issue. You may want to check it out. Good luck.
  18. When you say they upgraded your dvd, are you saying they upgraded with the retail upgrade? Reason I ask, is there is a service bulletin for the lost condition but it requires a special dvd that has to be ordered from Denso. This special dvd is different from the retail dvd because it includes a firmware upgrade for the navigation system which fixes the lost conditon among other things.

  20. Check that you have device set up as trusted and that you have most current os. Check on Cingular's site or RIM's. The Cingular Pearl isn't listed on the Lexus site, but the Tmobile one is. You may also want to check on the Blackberryforums site. They have a section for bluetooth.
  21. Its the same car as the 2006 GS300. The Lexus all weather floor mats for the 2006 GS 300 fit the GS350. The weathertechs should also.
  22. The tilt mirror feature comes with the seat memory option. I don't believe there's an on/off feature for the tilt mirror. Sounds like you may have to bring it in to have it looked at. Might be a communication problem somewhere. When putting into reverse, the backup switch should tell the mirror computer, which should then activate the mirror motor control. Update: You are right bartkat. Just looked in the owners manual on page 44. Tilt feature doesn't work withe mirror switch in neutral position.
  23. Cable will connect through your headphone connector. Don't think your ipod will pause during a call. I believe the system will mute the audio system and voice guidance on the navigation system during a call. Theres no interaction between the audio system and your ipod. You can't skip, fast forward, pause, etc your ipod through the audio system. Personally, I'm not too crazy about the setup. GM also uses a regular audio connection, but at least they put it on the front dash next to the audio system. That way I can add a satellite radio unit or ipod and still interact with it. With the Lexus setup I would have to take out the ipod to turn it on, off, play, stop, ff, skip, etc.
  24. Nothing more than just an AUX audio input jack. See page 311 in your owners manual. You can only control volume through the vehicles audio controls.
  25. There are no factory hardware upgrades to navs, just data.
