  1. According to a Toyota service center, there are engine oil and transmission oil leaks in my wife's '06 ES330 (165k mile). They gave me a quote: $406 for trans gasket replacement and $900 for valve gasket replacement. I have two questions. Are the price reasonable? Are these leaks serious? FYI, I haven't noticed any fluid on my garage floor yet.
  2. It's not mechanical or wind noise. It's more like tire/road noise. I don't recall having heard that much noise before. I initially thought that the rear axle or a rear wheel might have been damaged. However, I don't notice vibration. Moreover, When I drove the damaged car for a few days before dropping it at the body shop, I didn't notice anything strange, noise-wise.
  3. It's been 3 days since I got my 2006 ES330 back from a body shop (I got rear ended). I don't know if I was imagining it, but when I was driving it today, I thought the noise level was high. The engine was quiet, so it must be some kind of road noise. I was driving on the same route that I had used hundreds times before. The tires are about 1 year old and seem fine. Can (poor) body work result in more noise?
  4. I finally got a ding & scratches on the body panel near the driver's side rear wheel of my 06 ES330. Should I visit my dealership or can any body shops do the job?
  5. If I get the same service at an independent service center, will my warranty be void???
  6. I have an '06 ES330. My dealer wants $460 for the 15k mile service and says that it takes about 3 hours to do it. According to the manual, the 15k mile maintenance includes oil change, tire rotation, and a bunch of "inspections." My questions are: (1) Why does it take 3 hours to do it?, and (2) Is it worth $460 ?
  7. Due to incredible rain in the NYC area, my garage was flooded. I was out of town when the flooding happened and the water level in the garage was about 12-15 inch high according to the stains on the garage walls. My '06 ES330 was in the garage and I see NO evidence of water coming into the interior. The interior was dry when I opened the doors. I just brought the car back from a friend's and during the short ride, I didn't hear or feel anything strange (I thought I heard sound of liquid moving somewhere in the car, but I'm not sure if it was real or my imagination). What are the symptoms of water damage to a car? Should I bring the car to a dealership?
  8. I have a '06 ES330. Today I noticed that when I pressed the "MODE" button to change the air flow mode, some kind of motor sound was audible. I don't know if the air flow mode change always made that sound or if it recently became loud enough for me to notice. It sounds similar to the sound you hear when you change CDs. So, I wonder if other Lexus cars make a similar sound...
  9. I have 4k miles on my '06 ES330 and two noise problems. 1. I recently started to hear crackling noise from the dashboard or the driver's seat. It's hard to locate the exact noise source, but it's probably the dashboard. Did anyone have a similar problem? If so, how did you get it fixed? 2. I hear noise from the right front side only when driving 50-60mph. It's not mechanical noise. It's something like what you hear when you hit an empty plastic bottle. What could be this?
  10. I occasionally hear a low pitched howling/humming noise from the front right side of my 3 week old 2006 ES330. Here's what I've observed. 1. The noise intermittently occurs only at a speed higher than 50mph. 2. Although I'm not 100% sure, I mostly hear it when driving on certain highways/parkways. Again, the noise intermittently happens. 3. It's coming from either the right side of the engine compartment or the front right wheel. It's hard to tell. I've been driving for more than 20 years and never heard such a noise before. What do you think? I want to get a sense of what's happening before going to my dealer.
