  1. The power mirror ecu is the likely culprit. I'm trying to attach a photo I found online. I found mine on ebay. Here's a link to someone selling it. http://www.alpineautopart.com/servlet/the-...-Mirrors/Detail I know nothing about the merchant. I believe you need to remove the dash to gain access. That's why I've yet to actually change mine. You can reach it and it's harness from below (that's how I was able to test the replacement) but not the screws that hold it. With your head on the floor near the brake pedal & looking up, the module is to the left of the steering column. If I remember it all correctly. There should be a thread here somewhere.
  2. Still looking for parts? I have had good experiences with both of these http://www.irontoad.com/ http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/select.asp?cat=ACC
  3. sakataj- I'm interested in the same setup. Did you ever do it? Were you pleased with the results? I'd love to see pictures if you have them. I've also been looking at the IB setup offered by Elemental Designs http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=1_78_117 but I am concerned that I will not be satisfied with the results. THANKS
  4. Your best bet for oem keys: http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/ there are promo codes somewhere in this forum that will save you even more. FOUND THEM! One is better than the other. CLUBLEXUS CL911M
  5. I agree with SKperformance. I had remote start w/alarm installed in my 2001 RX about 2 years ago & haven't had any problems. The Heat/ Air Conditioning comes on in whatever mode I leave it in when I shut the car off.
  6. In many cases the deductible on glass is $100 compared th the $500 -$1000 or whatever you've chosen as your comprehensive deductible. Many windshields can be repaired depending on the size & location of the crack. The OEM windshield for my 01' RX (no nav or rain sensors) was about $1000 from Lexus. It took a few conversations to get my insurance company to step up to cover the Lexus glass.
  7. I've had the same issue with my 93 SC300 (260,000 miles). Turned out the coolant level was low. If everything else is working, it could be that simple
  8. The ES300 changer sounds like a great option. What year ES300 has a changer that is compatible with my 93 SC300? It has the stock Pioneer system.
  9. I had the same problem. The fix was very simple. If I remember corectly, all I used was a long phillips screwdriver & a rubber washer. The kind that goes in the end of a garden hose. This should take you to the thread on this site. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...ic=4237&hl=
  10. I know this is an older thread. I went with 235/45HR17 Bridgestone Potenza G 009 (High Performance All-Season $131) from TireRack.com. I needed a reaonably priced, capable, all season tire with good wet traction & decent handling. They handle well. They're not quite as sticky as the Dunlop SP Sport 5000's I had before. But, they're all season & come with a 50,000 mile treadlife warranty. They also ride 10x better than Khumo tires I ran previously. 93 SC300 with 17" IS300 wheels
  11. I've never used anything less than 93 in my 93 SC300. It's a 5spd with 255k miles on it. What sounded like pinging during acceleration turned out to be an exaust leak. The first pipe coming off of the manifold rusted. The part was around $250. Not the V-8. But, worth looking at. Hopefully, it's just the gas.
  12. I had a similar problem. Does it move at all? Can you hear the motor running? If so, it's a pretty easy fix. Check the link. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...wtopic=4237&hl= I used rubber washers. The type used for a garden hose. One on each side of the gear.
  13. I had a similar experience. In my case, it had absolutely nothing to do with alignment or suspension. It was my tires. 16" Dunlop SP Sport 5000's- no problem. 18" Nankang NSII- no problem. 17" Khumo- The car was all over the road. It wanted to follow every rut , line and dip. Even the slighest change in road surface forced a fight between me & the steering wheel. I recently switched to a 17" Bridgestone Potenza G009 (Tire Rack) - No problems since. I think the problem was do to stiffer sidewalls on the Khumo tires. With the new Bridgestones, I compromised on speed rating in order to get a 50k mile all season tire. (my 2 cents) `93 SC300 5spd, approaching 255k miles
  14. southernsc300- Do you know which year Supra has control arms to fit? I have a 93 SC300. I usually get part #'s from Lexus & go to Toyota to save a few bucks. In the case of the control arms, Toyota doesn't have a matching part #. Any suggestions?
  15. Flune, It's a great car. My 5spd '93 has 230k miles & is still rolling strong. You mentioned a commute. This may not be a concern to you. But, the SC requires premium unleaded fuel. My mileage ranges from 20-23 mpg depending on conditions. Spend some some time browsing the site. There are few issues common to the model.
  16. To piggyback on jbarhorst2's comment. Every full coverage policy I've had has included coverage specifically for glass. In the case of chips & small cracks.. If it can be repaired, they'll do it for free. They will replace it for whatever it cost, less a deductible. Maybe $50-100 depending on the policy. Some glass companies will work it out where they'll pay part or all of your deductible. ... All provided you have full coverage. Contact your agent
  17. SouthernSC300, You say the Supra bushings are larger? Do you know if the part numbers are the same? My 93 SC300 needs a suspension overhaul. Does anyone know what year Supra has parts to match my 93? Or, is there a site or posting that has the info? Thanks 226k miles & rolling
  18. Regarding the RFZ3410's. Best Buy has them on clearance for $39.99 each. At least they did 2 weeks ago when I got a pair. Like SportCoupe300 said, be careful not to get the 8 ohm sub. It is the 3810 & they use the same box. Only the label/sticker on the box distinguishes it. Also, try calling Crutchfield. They may be selling them cheap. I've got a related question. First, It's difficult to find a shop with installers who truly know the car. They all want to experiment on my ride. I don't care for speculation when it comes to working on my vehicle. I've been told that everything, from the cd changer to the power antenna is controlled by the head unit through the stock amp. Is this true? That means that my after-market amp could & should go after the stocker? I have no problem with that. I just need accurrate info. Thanks `93 SC300 5sp, 225k miles & counting
  19. The SC is a great car. My 93 has 222k miles on it. She's still running strong. 16? First car? The SC is a heavyweight. Do you have a mechanic who is willing & able to work on it for a reasonable price? They are very reliable cars. But, expect to dig deep if something goes wrong. Some shops won't touch them beyond basic service work. The dealership will charge a premium. Went there once to have mine checked out. I didn't realize it, but my tag bulbs were out. They wanted $95 to change 2 bulbs. Budding mechanic? It's not the car you want to learn on. Screw ups are too costly. Then there are it's driving characteristics. Even with good tires, RWD makes it easy to get sideways in the rain. That could land you in a ditch. Or worse, around a pole or partnered with another vehicle. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't like people in my back seat. Wait until 3 of your larger buddies want to ride with you. You'll wish you had an Accord. With fold down seats and a trunk large enough for a pair of 12's and pretty much anything else you'd want to carry, it's a much more practical car. Right now, filling up from "E" in the SC will cost close to 30 bucks. "Premium Unleaded Fuel Only". I recommend against it. You can be "THE NEW HOTTNESS" later. My opinion
  20. wolfie212003, I've managed to save a few dollars by taking my SC300 to the Toyota dealer. In a few models, many of the specs and most of the parts are shared. If your local Toyota dealer doesn't stock the Lexus part, they can usually order it. They will need the part # from Lexus as they don't have the ability to look it up. I've gone to Toyota for oil changes, brake work, a/c repair & timing belt replacement. I had 1 problem they couldn't diagnose. It was something unique to Lexus.
  21. My 215k mile `93 5spd runs like a champ. He has service records too? For the right price, I'd buy it. My 2 cents
