  1. I have a 2002 GS300, I just replace my plugs and wires, cleaned throttle body and maf sensor, the reason why i did that was because it lost power and 3 plugs were bad i think the codes were P301,P303,P305. Now my CIE is coming on and showing a code of P0420 I know it has something to do with the o2 Sensor's, I want to change them out but I think there is a total of 5 and I dont have all the cash to change at one time. So does anyone have or had this problem before and please share info with me. I would like the part numbers of all o2 sensors and a cheap deal on them if there is one out there. Would it be better to by the universal or the exact fit, besides cutting the wire and placing the pins what else is the diffrence. SO CAN ANYONE HELP ME FIGURE OUT WHICH o2 SENSOR TO CHANGE FIRST SO THE LIGHT CSN GO AWAY.

    Thanks

    John

In our area Auto Zone will read the fault light, and can tell if any are bad and which ones. They will give a readout of the replacements available. If you need the two on Bank One I can tell you which part numbers worked in my 2002 GS 300. Several are available for each position.

  2. I have never done anything to my headlight lenses and they were looking really nasty. No yellow color, but after washing the car, they still looked really dirty. I bought a product made by Turtle Wax called headlight lense restorer. It has two bottles of chemicals. One they call a clarifier and the other is a lubricant for sanding really bad lenses. I just used the clarifier and now the lenses look brand new. Just wanted to let people know this product really works. I don't work for Turtle wax or have any connection with them whatsoever. I am getting to the point where I am amazed a product works as advertised.

You can get a kit from Advance Auto for about $10. Comes with a polishing buffer for a drill and several pads. Have done three cars with one kit and have pads enough for one more. Very good results. Firestone wanted $100 to do it. It's called , 5 minute Headlamp Lens Restorer.

  4. Remote keys lost their ability to communicate with the car.Called the dealer. Got some young thing who said, "what is wrong"? I reminded her she was the expert, I was the owner. No answer. offered to re initilize "it", for

$110. What ever "it" is. Anyone out there had this before?

  5. If you wanted speed... shoulda got the GS400 haha...

Make sense, but the GS400 was more expensive not to mention takes more gas too :(

About the more gas in the 400. My wife drives between Memmphis TN, and Ashville NC, on one tank of gas in her 2000, LS 400 with 90,000 miles on it. It's over 500 miles. I think her best time is under 9 hours. She gets 27 miles per gallon at between 70 MPH and 80. I tried that in my 2002 GS-300 Sport design trying to better her average. Went very easy and cruise when I could. My best tank was 27.4. So the diffence in the 300 and the 400 aren't going to break the bank. Around town they are very close, not enough to cry over. The 400 engine never breathes hard.

After you muck up a highly engineered car, made by some of the best engineers in the world, it will cost you more than a 400. And you probably won't improve anything. Like someone said, it could be worse.

  6. Just finished changing the plugs on my car. Went with the Bosch Iridium plugs. I would have never attempted this without the tutorials you guys put on here. It was relatively painless. Thanks a million. Saved myself big $$$$$$. :) :)

My 2002 GS-300 Sport Design manual, page 251, calls for Denso SK16R-P11 plugs. That is the only one mentioned.

  7. Hi I need to up grade my lexus 2002 gs 300 sport gps system. i got the dvd purchase info but need info on how to install new disk any tips would be well appreciated.

HI I have a 2002 GS300 Sport and would like to update my nav system also. Where did you get your disc, and how much was it. Please answer to krearl@aol.com Thanks

  8. Are you sure they didn't send you the engine air filter, instead of the cabin air filter? I'm sure they'll take care of you if they screwed up and refund your money, including shipping. <_<

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I'm afraid they did send me the engine filter, but when I called them he swore up and down that I had the correct part # to match the cabin air filter. They said I could send it back for a full refund, no problem. But that still leaves me without a cabin air filter. I called my local Toyota dealer, and they don't even carry a cabin air filter for a 2001 Lexus GS300.

I don't know who posted the previous message, but I'm not sure a Toyota cabin air filter is the same as a Lexus cabin air filter, seeing as they didn't even carry a Lexus cabin filter. They told me to call the Lexus dealer

  9. Does anyone here know where I can locate the o2 sensor for my 2000 gs300, Autozone code scanner read out: bank 1, sensor 2

    Thank you :)

Buy it from Auto Zone. I put one in, in February. DENSO 234-4603, $150.99. Not cheap, but it fits right in. The two cheaper ones by BOSH had the wrong connectors.

  10. i have a 1999 gs400 with 81k. i justed changed the air filter, pcv valve and the spark plugs. after driving the vehilce for about 10 miles the check engine light came on. is something i did or forgot to do. also is there a way i can reset the check engine light myself. thanks for any help you may give

I highly advise getting the codes pulled with a OBDII scanner first. Then we can proceed ;)

    Welcome to the club

Go to Auto Zone and get the codes read. Then you will know what you are trying to remove. They are very willing. I have used they over 10 times this year, hunting a fault. Then you can remove the light by pulling a couple of fuzes under the hood. Find out what you are looking for first. Good Luck

  11. i wanted to know if any one knows were i can get a good price on two oxygen sensors. i need to replace the two front ones that are before the converter, and is replacing the sensors something i can do our should i take it to a mechanic. i have a 2001 gs300 with 69,000 miles

The sensors can be easily replaced by yourself, I would only purchase OEM parts. Check online....Maybe sewell lexus or irontoad.

Auto Zone can read your codes. They have several sensors available when you read thier readout. I have just replaced two, so I should know. Lexus will charge much more. All you need is a wrench and a will. If you are working with Zone one on a GS 300 they are easily accesabily under the hood, right side. Will plug right in. Caution: they have several available, make sure you get the right one with the plug that matches or they will swap it for another. Try the cheapest first as OEM and work up to the more expensive one. The ones on the back bank are not so easy as they go through the floor and plug in up behind the dash. Good luck.

  13. List your model, year ,

    # of owners ,

price when bought and from where

lenght of ownership and attributed problems and repair costs.

Also mention where you had it fixed ( lexus, independent, midas or diy).

    When it was done.

Any mods done to the car and its costs.

If desired your age and insurance you pay.

If you have any picutes in the gallery put links in the post so we can have an idea about the car.

Please only post once and if you have a question either pm the member or make a new thread .

This will keep the page from being filled with excess.

The paint doesn't look to good either. I have a 2002 Gs 300 Sport Design. If you have the black wood shift knob, do you want to sell it.

  14. Something in the transmission in my/my dad's 2000 GS 300 broke and busted a seal in the process. The shop it is at now doesn't know what to do, and won't say/doesn't know what broke. I'm wondering if it is best to just take it to a Lexus dealership now. We are currently in the process of debating whether to sell the car or not, and obviously need to fix this before we actually do. I just don't want them to replace the whole transmission when they don't have to. I wish I could offer more info, but I'm away from home in college and can't get the right info myself.
  15. Fellas,

Just got back from Connecticut where I picked up my car from my family's house.

because i live in pittsburgh they were nice enough to go to the dealership and handle the purchase of my car for me. When I got back to CT this past weekend to get my car the damn VSC & VSC OFF lights are on.

When my parents picked up the car someone at the dealership found a way to turn it off.

    My dilema is that :

    A) The dealership is a Chevrolet Dealer and no one seems to know anything about lexus or which one of their service people looked at my car. (I am awaiting a call back on that)

    B) The VSC button does not do anything.

    C) I really do not want to have to drive from Pittsburgh to NYC where the dealer is to have this fixed under my 60 day warranty.

I know it could be anything from speed sensor, or worse. I believe the guy who owned it before me had aftermarket wheels. When they returned the stock wheels could they have missed something?

Also can places like Autozone and Advanced autoparts pull the codes for lexus or would I have to have a dealer run through it?

Any tips, are appreciated. I would love to not have to make that drive.

BTW i drive 8 hrs from CT to Pitt in some heavy rain w. no problems.

    2005 GS300

    Thanks in advance.

I have a 2002 GS 300. After rotating the tires I got the VSC light and the switch wouldn't do anything. I had not worked on the brakes or anything else. I had done the front discs about 12000 miles before, but did not do anything but rotate the tires. I pulled two fuses and they apparently reset the computer. If you go in front of the battery there is a fuse panel. Looking at it from the right fender, after you take off the cover ther are two rows of fuses. The row next to the battery, starting from the right side of the car has 11 in that row. You are facing the rear of the car. Counting from the right side of the car, pull number 5 a 15 amp fuse, and number 9 a 25 amp one. Leave them out for at least 2 minutes or longer if you are doing something else. That seems to reset the VSC light as well as the check engine light. I think the VSC stinks any way. It cuts your power right when you are in traffic, away from a light and a limited slip diffie is far the better course.

Autozone will read your check engine light codes for free. Your best bet for service, since Chevy isn't too hot is Toyota. After all they made the bugger. Good luck. Hope it works. Ken

  16. No separate start injector. The PCM directly controls injector pulse width based on ambient & coolant temperature and intake air density & temperature.

So give me some help. Why does it crank so long? I had a problem with temparture sensors in the block and bottom of the radiator, and put two new O2 sensors in bank one because of the engine check light. Pulled fuzes to cancel the light. That was 182 miles ago. The light is still out. The manual says "change the plugs at 60,000 miles". Is it that sensitive. I have never changed the plugs is the LS 400 at 90,000 miles. It starts great. And this used to in a flash. Kenneth
