  1. The solution is quite simple. Your PDA /Smartphone uses Outlook for it's contacts and phone numbers. Outlook formats the numbers with (), a space and a - between numbers. The Lexus doesn't accept this type of formatting. And So: Go to your desktop computer and open the "Control Panel" Click on "Phone & Modem" and select "New". Add Singapore as a new location and make that the default for now. Close that out and open Outlook 2003. Go to each of the contacts you wish to transfer to your Lexus phone book and re-enter the phone number using just the 10 significant digits (5085551555) and save the contact. You'll also notice that there is a drop down box that would allow you to enter a number with your previous default in the USA, but that would format the number incorrectly for your phone. I only mention that in passing! Do a sync to your phone which will update the numbers to a format that the Lexus understands and you'll be all set. A word of caution: You can only have one (1) phone number for those contacts you want in your Lexus Phone book. If you have more than one you'll get the vertical bars again. My suggestion would to either make an additional entry in the contacts list with just one number or move the addtional numbers for each contact with more that one number to the "Notes" section of the contact. Now don't forget to go back to the Control Panel, Phone & Modem, and change the default back to your original location!! If you have a problem following this just send me a message with your phone number and I'll call you and talk you through it. I have VoiP so it doesn't cost me to call.
  2. How well do these satellite add-on interfaces display the text info as to artist, song title, etc. on the 400h radio display? Is there automatic or manual scrolling? Does it work well? (I have experienced some idiosyncracies in the TXT feature when using with regular radio). Thanks The display shows Channel number, pressing Text will display Artist and if left there that is the default. Pressing Text again displays Song title and that becomes the default until Text is pressed again. and so on and so on. You end up with 18 presets, Sat1 has 6, Sat 2 has 6 and Sat3 has 6. The channel select can tune any of the other channels. The Type displays the catagory and selects the first channel of that catagory. In other words it works well and as promised and expected. I'm completely satisfied. The one ideosyncracy is instead of displaying SAT1, SAT2, or SAT3 it says TAT1, TAT2, & TAT3, however, the voice commands announce it correctly and the Mode on the steering wheel also selects the three SAT (TAT) positions.
  3. Those that have a PDA phone using Outlook for their contacts will have trouble beaming those contacts to the Lexus Phonebook because Outlook formats telephone numbers with parenthesis () spaces and -. If you try to transfer a number it appears as a name with a bunch of vertical bars in place of the phone number. There is an easy way to add contacts with unformatted telephone numbers. Here's how: Go to your control panel on your desktop computer and click on Phone & Modem. Add Singapore as another location and use that as the default when adding contact phone numbers in your contact list. You're able to add 10 digit numbers without any formatting whatsoever. Make sure there is only one phone number entry per contact. I suggest making another catagory for those contacts so you can separate only those contacts you want to transfer to your LEXUS Phonebook(s). Once added, sync to your PhonePDA. At the Lexus select the catagory containing those contacts and highlight them all. Beam them to the phone book. That's it. Works fine.
  4. After much thought I ordered the Factory Interactive Kit for adding XM to my RX-400h. I can tell you that it works flawlessly and it took less than 2 hours for me to install it. It is supplied with a DVD that shows everything you have to know to install it and everything else but the tools. You only need a few basic tools like a 10 mm socket, a 12 mm socket, socket handle and socket extention, some electrical tape, a screwdriver and maybe a pocket knife. The only anamaly is that instead of displaying SAT1, SAT2 & SAT3 it displays TAT1, TAT2 & TAT3 but that doesn't bother me at all! :) . I recommend this to anyone wanting to add XM to their RX-330 or RX400h. I had a XM installation by Factory Interactive. It is a home based installer who gives excellent/detailed service... he was VERY careful with my installation. He installed a Toyota XM radio into my Rx400h and it was totally invisible except for an inconspicuous antenna. His name is John - I wish all installations were as neat. It works well. http://www.factoryinteractive.com/ Installed was $595 - you have to get your car to Northern NJ Thanks for your answer. I've spoken with John and I agree he's most helpful. Currently I'm in Florida but I plan on stopping by his place in Whippany, NJ on the way home to Massachusetts and having him install XM. I'd appreciate it if you'd email me privately at satman@yorkies.com and explain how you choose and program the presets.
  5. I have a Samsung i730 PDA Phone and it works fine in my RX-400h. The only problem I'm having is transferring phone numbers to the phone book. The names appears but the numbers don't. The telephone number is only represented by vertical bars. I assume this is because the number is stored on my phone with parenthesis ( ) around the area code. The phone gets its contact list (Phone Book) from Outlook 2003 on my desktop computer Does anyone know how to correct this or manually enter Name and Telephone numbers into the phone books of the navigation system

  8. Has anyone used or installed the VaisTech SoundLinQ (SLX) (http://www.vaistech.com/) unit to integrate XM Radio into a RX-400h? I'm considering ordering one and want to make sure it works as they promise! :whistles:
