  1. I have a 1998 ES300 with the Nakamichi stereo system and I'm looking to put a Parrot CK3200LS Bluetooth in it to automatically mute the stereo when a call comes in. Circuit City says they need a harness kit for the installation (as opposed to splicing the wires), but I've been unable to locate one anywhere. Does anyone know where one is, or have others simply spliced the wires?
  2. If anyone has done this, there is a way to post attachments elsewhere that would work out just fine. I'll link to a site that quickly explains the process and hopefully someone who has put together a full PDF manual can post it there. Microsoft has a new beta site that offers public or private space for file sharing for files up to 500 MB. It's called Skydrive and can be accessed here: http://skydrive.live.com/ I actually found it discussed on Kim Komando's radio show. She hosts a show every week on computer tips, and here's her web site reference to it: http://www.komando.com/downloads/category.aspx?id=3743 I tried it out and it's very easy to use. As I said, hopefully someone will be good enough to post the full naviigation and base manuals there. I for one would sure appreciate it.
  3. Does anyone know if updating the mapping data will eliminate the ability to override the navigation lockouts?
  4. The override sequence for entering navigational destinations on the fly (Menu/Volume/Top Left/Bottom Left/etc.) works just fine for my 2004 navigation system with mapping software 4.2. Does anyone know if this gets eliminated on newer mapping DVD updates? I know that ability has been eliminated on newer navigation user interface systems, like in the 2007 models, but I'm wondering if I'll lose that ability if I simply update the mapping data on my car.
  5. On my 2004 LS with mapping DVD software 4.2 I have noticed a problem with auto re-route. What I've determined is that if I'm within a fairly close distance to my final destination, say 1/2 mile, and I miss a turn that the voice guidance says to take, it will not re-route me or give me future guidance - until I get a certain distance away from the final destination. What I've actually determined is that if the final destination shows on the display screen, it simply won't re-route at all. Once the final destination is not on the display any more, re-routing immediately starts again. I have to believe that this is a problem, but the Lexus dealer thinks it may be working as designed (but he's checking). Is this true? Will the guidance system fail to re-route you if you're within a 1/2 mile or so of the final destination?
  6. I fairly new to using my 2004 NAV system, but yesterday when taking a route I took a street before the one that was recommended on the route home. I expected the system to recalculate the route and give me new dirtections, but it didn't do it within the next minute or 2 before I arrived there. In fact, it gave me no instructions at all. Is this normal?
  7. I've tried the override sequence for entering navigational destinations on the fly on my 2004 LS (Menu/Volume/Top Left/Bottom Left/etc.). That works just fine for the navigation system, but doesn't override the bluetooth phone functions. So a simple question: (1) Is there any way to override the phone functions so that a number to call can be entered while driving?
  8. I recently had the dealer install the integrated XM radio in my 2004 LS. Since they left the manual in the car, what I can tell that they actually installed was a VAIS SoundLinQ SLX interface. That may or may not be normal, and may or may not be what's used if a factory XM sateliite is ordered. Does anyone know? In any case, they also added a small dashboard XM antenna, which wasn't what I expected but also may be normal. I had thought that a satellite would use the included rooftop antenna, although in thinking back on it I can see how that's not likely. So the second question I have is, is a dashboard mounted small antenna, located on the passenger side, also normal for dealer installed XM radios? Last, on the functionality, I can't see a way to easily see what's playing on multiple stations before switching to them. I can see a small amount of information for the stations I've selected as favorites in my Sat-1 or Sat-2 panels, but that's all, and pressing TEXT, which I had hoped would show me different information on multiple stations, only brings up extended information for the one station I'm listening to and stays there until I press TEXT again. Is there any way to get information (like scores of games, whose song is playing, and so on) on stations while listening to another one?
  9. I'm not finding much on using a Bluetooth phone in my (new for me) 2004 LS430 Ultra, so I thought I'd ask a few questions to those that might know ... (1) Are there any voice commands available for using the phone, like "Call xyz number", or "Dial xyz number", or any commands whatsoever dealing with the phone? (2) Can I manually enter phone numbers into the telephone directory? So far I don't see how to do this. (3) How do I transfer a call to my actual phone from the Lexus Bluetooth system if I want to make a call private?
  10. I complained about this aspect of the GPS/Nav shortly after I purchased my new 2001 AWD RX300. Except in my case I wanted the OAT to stay "on screen" since it was wintertime traveling in MT and I wanted to know if the OAT was near or approaching freezing. Here it is 16 years later and I guess not enough of us have complained about the display reverting to the useless moving map. I pop the nav DVD out of the player when the GPS is not in use to avoid the "I agree" aspect but seemingly there is not way to keep any other display "up". After buying a portable Garmin the only time I use the Lexus nav is to remind me just how unsatisfactory, in comparison, it really is. Actually, I just now found a way to do it. If you go into Options/Information/Screen Setting and turn off the first option there (switch from screen or something like that), that does the trick.
  11. I've got a question that's probably dumb but I'll ask it anyway since I didn't find it quickly in the manual or the forum . I have a (new to me) 2004 430. It has the nav system, and I'm wanting to know if there's any way to keep the display on the radio if I want to, to see the text on stations from XM that provide name and artist, as an example. I know I can always press Audio to get to the display for about 20 seconds or so, but it always reverts back to the navigation display. Is there any way to keep the display on the audio, and then only manually revert back to the nav display when and if I want to?
  12. Thanks for the information. You were right on all of this, and yesterday I went to the dealership and had all the settings personalized for me in one fell swoop. Since the car wasn't brand new, they charged $45 to make the changes. I guess that's reasonable enough. Sorry, you're likely to need to revisit that dealer yet again. For some rather strange reason for many years Lexus has kept somewhat secret all of the C-best features/options. More recently a few of these have been publisized as LPS, Lexus Personal Setings, options/features, but this list is not nearly the full boat. Go back to the dealer and ask, INSIST, to see the complete C-BEST list, you'll be surprised at how extensive it is, and USEFUL, over and about the LPS list. Hmm. I had problems getting the list from them yesterday, just as you mentioned. All they said they had was the current LS460 ones, and there were 16 of those, only one of which didn't apply (power trunk lid operation). I went down the list one by one and made every selection. They acted like this was the only list they had available. I can certainly press them on it if you're certain that there's more than 16 different types. I'll put the types they showed me and maybe someone can say if they notice something missing: Unlocking of doors Flashing of signal lights Unlocking doors when placing vehicles into park Auto locking of doors at 13 mph Locking doors when shifting from park into another range Using the remote key to open all windows Using the remote key to open moon roof Using the remote key to open/tilt moon roof Opening the trunk from remote key Illumination of cabin light Illumination of the interior light Delaying headlights to turn off Sensitivity of automatic headlights Daytime running lights function Auto tilt away of the steering wheel Power trunk lid operation / non-operation

  14. Is there a place to download the LS430 owner's manual in total, so that searches can be easily done? The MyLexus site only seems to allow me to seach across they manual piece parts, but I'd really like everything in one PDF file, which would make searching much more convenient and wouldn't force me to use the web site all of the time. Is there an entire file download located somewhere that I can access?
  15. I just purchased a 2004 Ultra Luxury and I've been looking through the manual to see where custom settings are done, but can't find them yet. I'm talking about things like adjusting whether one press or 2 are required to open all car doors from the key fob, the amount of time that headlights stay on after leaving the car, and so on. I'm sure there's plenty of programmable options (at least I thought there were), but where do I find documenation on them?
