  1. WELL... I have a replacement mirror glass coming from partstrain tomorrow (osrv mirror) Sewell said I could come and pick up the wsw pump for my ws washer, it was missing. I got the deck lid adjusted, looks normal now. left to do fender molding, check engine light, flashing trac-off light. whew.... did you get my email about the fender molding?
  2. I will most certainly check it out! Thank you for the speedy reply! the 2LS doesnt have caliper slides in the front, uses 4piston opposed calipers. most likely you're either low on brake fluid, or just need a brake fluid bleed.
  3. EGR isnt required in japan.
  4. you used FENDER WASHERS instead of wheel spacers and you're ALIVE?!
  5. they last just as long. read up. http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml
  6. I started using synthetic 5W30 in my 91 LS400 after ~160k miles of non-synthetic (what the previous owner used). No problems after about 1.5 years and 5k miles. Is there a reason you go with the 10W30 instead of the 5W30? it gets stupidly hot here in the summer and i don't need the cold temp properties of 5w-30 since i live in a rather warm part of southern california?
  7. the 3000mi oil change is a myth. i run ~8k mi between changes, bosch filters and Mobil1 full syn. 5w-30 (switching to 10w-30 due to the weather in my region). I guess my question is more regarding whether starting to use Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my '97 LS400 is a good idea if the car has never been used to synthetic oil and it's already got 147k on the clock? as i posted on the other forum, you'll be fine :P
  8. the 3000mi oil change is a myth. i run ~8k mi between changes, bosch filters and Mobil1 full syn. 5w-30 (switching to 10w-30 due to the weather in my region).
  9. you paid >$180 for a pair of OEM hood struts? i think i'll stick to the $50 ebay ones that seem to work perfectly fine. most ls400 parts arent overpriced, some, on the other hand, very much are. but still, much better then bmw/mercedes.
  10. 1.check codes :P 2. search for "trac" in this forum, should be a lot of hits. 3. leak in lines 4. either bent trunk or bent hinge. 5. needs a refill of r134a coolant, might have a leak 6. junkyard 7. i actually have the exact piece you need, pm me :P (the plastic panel that's supposed to go there) 8. replacement needle from another panel, not cheap nor easy, just simple in theory.
  11. sounds like the gas tank sender is buswted, making you read 1/2 tank evenn when there's next to no gas left.....
  12. That is so true. I know i'm new to this forum in particular, but coming from experience - everyone is wasting there time on this guy. He will never get it, his responses in particular, the last couple just show his immaturity. I say he is 16 - 18 digging himself a deeper hole. Ive seen many of these threads go on for weeks. i'll say 23-24 years old. MAYBE 25.
  13. does that mean we'll be able to search terms <3 characters without the search going stupid and making us use the * wildcard?
  14. if you think high octane gas increases your power on a factory tuned car, then i've got some C16 i'll sell you for the low low price of $12/gallon. it's 160 octane so according to you that should be good for about another 80hp or so? im willing to bet that cleaning all the crap from and regapping your spark plugs caused the increase in power you're feeling more than the bull*BLEEP* that is sidegappping. don't believe me? put up the money to dyno your car and realize that you're STILL making stock HP or more likely lower. also, learn to type, your spelling spelling and grammar are atrocious. Oh come on PureDrifter ;) . I was rather enjoying the comic relief! Oh !Removed! on guy, if u dnt like how I spell stop reading it, and my spelling jus seems to b sumwut of a way to keep off the real topic, wich is basically summed up with, compare 91 octane to 89 octane, its simple... Its better.. Grow up sumtimes showing how smart u think u r jus shows how insecure and imature u still r.. And for my age, dnt worry about it,... Makes me curious.. Aahahaahahaha, but yeah, I love women dude, I love women so much I had one .. Let's not get on that... Oh and yeah, say wut u want tho, its a freedom of speech, wait a minute, that should b somethin, like a rule or sumthn.. Oh yeah, it is.. Its called tha constitution, so I inderstand tha rules, but to demeanor my character.?..then u wonder y I dnt care about yur seniority.. Jus move on guy, I'm not interestid..I'd rather waste my time arguing with my wife Have a good day :5 you still havent supplied any empirical evidence to support your earlier claims of sidegapping alone being responsible for any kind of power increase, and you neatly attempted to sidestep the your own claim that you, by using a higher octane gasoline (87 vs. 91) made more power or in some other way increased the performance of your vehicle, or any other engine in and of itself. obviously 91 is offers more knock protection but that would require an ecu to compensate for it, which in a go-ped, at least any i've ever seen, is a pretty big stretch. if you can't deal with being asked to support your own claims then don't complain or !Removed! and moan when people don't take what you have to say seriously. ditto goes for the spelling and grammar. this isn't a question of what you can or can't do, rather what would help you get your point across in a manner that would allow for and encourage other members to want to help you. take my advice or leave it honestly i could care less considering i have nothing to lose either way, just realize that the way you present yourself on a forum is directly correlated to the quality of responses you receive. this is something that is obviously not unique just to me, as several other members (see thread) have similar comments. seniority means nothing to me, i've been on this forum a while, but nothing in comparison to a couple others i've been on, and i've never felt the need to "pull rank" or anything like that on someone for the sole reason that pulling rank on someone on an online forum is about as effective as telling someone via email that you've got a gun to their head, or at least is about as effective. you insult me by insinuating that you are better qualified than me, and somehow a better persona than me when you state that you reply as you do 'because sum of us have reals jobs and family to tend to, rather than sit and type on a pc all day.' which precedes your argument that I am here for the sole purpose of !Removed! with you with "unlike tha wuns that wanna sit and pik nonsense arguments over basic mechanics and physics that even my 2 year old daughter could point out on a graph" and then, beyond all of that, accuse ME of demeaning YOU for telling you that your argument is invalid and your usage of English is painful to read. Brilliant that. and for *BLEEP*'s sake man, the First Amendment was meant to prevent the government from unduly withdrawing civil liberties, why the hell would you misuse it in the context of a forum argument. it wasn't even a freaking "rule" or "law" until after 1919 when it was RESTRICTED during the 1st world war, and even more so since then. if you are going to use a term from as respected a document as the Amendments to the Constitution of the United States of America, at least do it in the proper context. (sorry, this is a pet peeve, people misquote the amendments far too often). before you go out and say someone you've never met, know absolutely nothing about, and generally are in the dark about is insecure and immature (sp...) you should probably stop, think to yourself "do i REALLY want to make a personal quarrel over something that isn't one yet?" and then proceed to think before you make an utter !Removed! out of yourself. i didn't make this personal, you did. i never once mentioned anything about you other than your lack of supporting evidence and relative lack of actual knowledge behind what you were saying since you didnt, despite repeated requests, give any evidence. you make this personal and you get no help, and sure as hell no respect from me.
  15. H&R/KYB is also somewhat popular as you get a slightly stiffer feel on smooth roads but very cushy on bad roads. much softer and more like a lower version of OEM.
  16. The tires are dry but spayed few days back with black magic wet foam. Here is the pic, I hope it helps: it's still a little hard to tell but i'll venture to say that the toe might be out and/or the strut rod bushings are going or gone and are throwing the caster off to hell.
  17. ...and? you do realize what forum this is right? i mean, it does have "Lexus" and "LS400" on the top banner..... go check the ES250/300 forum, or better yet, toyotanation.com ....
  18. What is the difference between draining and filling and pumping and filling? Jeff pumping doesnt flush out all the little bits of transmission floating around at the bottom of the pan...
  19. worse than a bad O2 sensor is one that is taking its sweet time to die, the readings are out of spec enough to trigger a CEL for a catalytic inefficiency issue, but not out of spec enough to trigger the O2 sensor failure.
  20. i wouldnt blame the wear on the tire manufacturer, the written warranty also states that any abnormal wear would void the warranty. if you have an out of alignment suspension that wore the tires down then you're accountable for it, not Dunlop....
  21. kind of hard to tell from those pictures since i can't see the inside and outside (head on shot of the tread would be GREAT, and please make sure the tires are dry :)) but it seems to be a problem with the Toe or Camber settings.
  22. try turning the wheel a little bit to either side (try both) while turning the key. sounds like the wheel lock got activated.
  23. tell us what kind of wear was found exactly and perhaps someone can tell you what part's going out on the suspension.
  24. if you think high octane gas increases your power on a factory tuned car, then i've got some C16 i'll sell you for the low low price of $12/gallon. it's 160 octane so according to you that should be good for about another 80hp or so? im willing to bet that cleaning all the crap from and regapping your spark plugs caused the increase in power you're feeling more than the bull*BLEEP* that is sidegappping. don't believe me? put up the money to dyno your car and realize that you're STILL making stock HP or more likely lower. also, learn to type, your spelling spelling and grammar are atrocious. wow... u r sumthn else..lol, i spell how i want 2 first off, but i pretty damn sure that better gas dusnt give extra horespower.. nody said it did... jus perorms better... it of course a higher octane... either way im happy with my performane and i dnt need sumwun mocking my knowledge.. while u have no ego with your boasting and posting, you absoulutly no idea of my crudentials.. so if you really wanna start talkn smak go to a shop.. but this is jus suppose to b a forum for all of us that dnt mind the advice, ideas, and the other common knowledge that brainstorming provides... 2 heads are better than one 3 are better than 2.. well if your as smart as you present yourself than im pretty sure you det wer im going with this.. but for now y dnt u jus stick to giving the great knowledge that you do, because sum of us have reals jobs and family to tend to, rather than sit and type on a pc all day. no offense to those who use their time wisely, unlike tha wuns that wanna sit and pik nonsense arguments over basic mechanics and physics that even my 2 year old daughter could point out on a graph.. but dude truly without guys like you this place wouldnt be as succesful as it is. hahah, so you're saying that higher octane gas does NOT make more power, yet somehow mystically "performs" better? you must explain to me this bending of physics and chemistry you are attempting to create/explain. you presented a series of idea, i proceeded to disagree with pretty much all of them since you have no empirical evidence to support your claims. i also asked you to fix your spelling and grammar because frankly, it's a big pain in the !Removed! to read through, and when you are conversing on or asking for help from a forum you generally don't want to alienate people who will literally just skip over your post because the type of grammar and spelling you are using is indicative of someone either still in highschool or still stuck in that same mentality. as you said, this is a forum, you can present any idea or piece of advice you wish, and i can go ahead and disagree with you if i don't agree or see eye to eye with any part of what you're saying provided (on this forum at least) i'm relatively polite about it. also, if you don't mind my asking, how old are you? next time, figure out exactly who you're talkin to buddy ;)
