  1. My understanding is that techrolene is what you need as additive to combat ethanol(EtOH) effects on you r O2 sensors...the EtOH burns them out fast and the dealers are redfusing to replace them (if you are under warranty) and they detect the casue of failure to be EtOH. I have heard that Lexus has redesigned the O2 sensors to tolerate EtOH but the new plugs are around $300 each (I think an RX300 has 3 or 4).
  2. I have been frightened by stories of cranks failing...specifically the bushing fails which causes the shaft to wobble and cause engine failure after about 90K. The way it was explained was a bearing assembly should have been designed into the lower engine for the crank shaft to tranmit power to the transmission? At any rate, the end result is engine replacement when it fails. The tell tale sign (if any) , is a very hard to discern oil leak underneath. Supposedly, Lexus has recognized the problem but have not issued recalls and are not covering it under warranty. The dealership solution is to stock lots of cranks. Now I ask, if the engine needs replacing, how can having cranks on hand solve their problem. Something doen't seem to add up.
  3. I get intermittent episodes of the O/D OFF light coming on in the instrument panel of my 01 RX300. It will not light up the next time I start the car, or asometimes it stays on a few days and then it does not light up when I start the vehicle. Anybody know what causes this?
