  5. I have a Lexus 2000 GS300 Platinum Edition with only 58,000 mile which was sitting for about six months. I finally decided to register the car and put it pack on the road. After sitting for so long the battery died, the battery would hold a charge so I had to replace it. I took the car to be inspected and it failed the entire ODB emission test. I was told that I have to drive the car for about 15-20 miles so that it can reset. After driving for about 15 miles the check engine light came on. I took the car to my mechanic who works for Toyota for over 20 years; he checked it and said the code was P0446 and P0441. He said it could be the gas tank cover; he reset the ODB codes and tighten the gas cap. He did a pressure test on the gas tank cover and it was OK. After driving for another 15 miles or so the check engine light came back on. My mechanic stated that it could be problem with EVAP (Charcoal Canister) system which could become very costly to repair. I spoke to a Lexus service agent who also stated that the codes point to the gas cap being loose. Does anyone out there have any idea what else maybe causing these codes? Also since the car only has 58,000 miles is this something that maybe cover by the emission warranty.

  7. Does the computer on a 2000 gs300 needs to be reset after replacing battery
  8. Is there anyway to install a remote starter utilizing the master key on a 2000 GS300
  9. My 2000 GS300 with little over 51,000 miles stopped accelerating the Check Engine Light, VSC OFF and VSC lights came on and stayed on. I had the car towed to the dealer and was told it needs a throttle body assembly which is about $1300.00 plus labor. I find this strange since the car doesn't even have 52,000 miles. Has anyone experienced any similar problem with the GS300 family.
  10. check for a seized caliper slide pin on the front calipers, most of the time the dust boot are left not covering the pin after a brake repair and over time this cause moisture and dirt to get into them and seize them in place, and it will cause you exact concern. Thanks for the reply I have since taken my car to the Lexus dealer and was told the calipers needed to be replace which I don't understand the car only has a little over 51,000 miles. This is my 3rd Lexus, I previously owned a 1995 and 1998 ES300 never had a problem sold the 1995 to a friend with 110,000 miles never had a problem but normal wear and tear my friend still owns the car and he is very happy. Desided to trade up for the GS300 but seems this was a bad choice. Personally they all great cars and i definally like the GS over the ES both in style and performance, thats just me.... :) Its a very common thing on the GS with the pins seized in place due to a misplaced boot. if you dont mind me asking, which dealer did you bring your car to? I took my car to Lexus of Rockville Centre in New York
