  1. My 99 RX300 has a cassette player. I have been using a Panasonic cassette adapter hooked to my mp3 player for my tunes. Lately the adapter has taken to self ejecting. :cries: Sometimes it does it right away, sometimes after an hour or more. I think it is a generic issue with cassette players, the player in my bothers 98 blazer does the same thing. Only his never stays in. Any thoughts? Cleaning, demagnetizing? Do they even make cleaning cassettes and demagnetizers any more? Cheers!
  2. I am lucky I didn't get the ECu. It turned out to be the driver's door ecu and a bad ground in the dash.
  3. I haven't, but I just bought the car in November so I am not sure. All I really know is it has a clean carfax report and was originally from Hawaii. I live in the Seattle area. Steve
  4. As a matter of fact, I just pulled every fuse and lightly sand papered them in case there was some corrosion on them. They all appeared OK, but I didn't meter them. Steve
  5. I have a myriad of things wrong, the only common item is the body ecu, according to my wiring diagrams and symptoms. For example, the lights for the stereo panel don't work, ditto the ECT switch light, transmission gear light, dome light when you open the door (it works fine with the dome light switch) and cigarette lighter. The automatic headlights will not shut off automatically after I get out of the car ( I killed my battery one night expecting the lights to go out after I put the car in the garage). The key in ignition chime doesn't work. The driver's seat belt chime doesn't work. The climate control keeps resetting to 75 degrees over night. I have a listing of programmable features in the body ecu, it controls most of these items. I would try to program these features but the Lexus Technnical Service Information system (the one you have to pay to use) says you have to have a "Lexus hand-held tester" to program the ecu. I did find a recall of the ecu for some 99 RX300s that involved replacing the ecu. There was a problem with the automatic headlights and the tailights failing to operate at times. The recall contains instructions on how to get to the ecu to replace it and then reprogram the new one to recognize the car key. That's why I want to find a used one to try as a replacement. Lexus would probably want a fortune for a new one.
  6. I need a body ECU for a 1999 RX300 with AWD. Anyone know where I can get an aftermarket or used one? The part number for the one I need is 04008-17148.
  7. artbuc, So how do you get to the rear plugs? I got the middle one but can't figure the other ones. Thanks!
  8. I have a 1999 RX300. Several of the lights on the instrument panel don't work, such as the stereo, the gear shift indicator, the ECT switch and others. The key in when door is opened alarm and the overhead courtesy light doesn't work when the doors are opened. I am thinking they all run through the body ECU, can this be the problem? Thanks for any help, Steve
  9. Is there a way to set the default temperature of the climate control? Mine always goes back to 75 degrees when I start the car in the morning. I want to set it to 70 or so.
