  1. I am not sure what you are talking about as I had a 4runner and the GX has better acceleartion then the 4runner (I had a 2000 4runner Limited )... I had two GXs 03 and 06 and 03 actually had better acceleartion then the 06 which has more HP... well perhaps they are exactly the same. That also might be due to transmission not yet fully getting used to my driving... all in all the GX is quite fast... make sure you use Premium Gas... you want acceleartion get a TRD Supercharger. 0-60 in 7 secs...
  2. It costs around $600 actually (which is a huge OVERPRICE) and you should not have to send in anything... what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Add video input to a NON-RSES vehicle? if that is the case you need to get a composite (or component ) to RGB converter and splice into your factory harness which can be accomplished for under $200... (something like http://cgi.ebay.com/Audio-Authority-9A65-C...1QQcmdZViewItem ) people have done it... there is a very good discussion on this on 4runner forums actually... there is also Vaistech.com but their products are being redisgned and won't be available for a wee bit longer... ask around the forums, people have done that... if you have RSES then you already have the extra video input in your center console.... as far as how to hook something like that up you will need to splice into the cable going from the NAV system to the displya unit (its easily accessible by the NAV under passanger seat) and then right a switch that will switch RGB video from NAV to the RGB Video coming from the COMPONENT-TO_RGB Converter.. its a metter of wiring a relay/switch and a bunch of wires coming from NAV and the converter... I will find the link from 4runner forums as people have wired that w/o a problem.
  3. Hey Pete, Yeah you sent me the ebay links to everything before so I still hae your address in my email account... I will shoot you a message since I was going to have you send me the wiring diagrams... as far as factory harness its not that difficult actually if you already have RSES to tap into the Composite Video coming from the dvd player (two wires) and then run it into a VIDEO SPLITTER/AMP thanks Please!! Anyone?? If you going to buy after market equipments I suggest you stay away from the factory wiring. It a pain in the !Removed! trying to hack the factory harness. I have a procedure for an aftermarket DVD, sunvisor and headrest monitor installation if youre interested. I have a DVD player in the glove box, 8" Right side sunvisor and four 8" monitor in headrest. here are some picture of my GX. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2195868 the procudure is step by step, where to run wire, which wire to tap into. also with pictures. It about 20MB words files. Email me and I sent it to you. peter_gx470@yahoo.com
  4. SK allow me to disagree with you here... ERIX, GX470 has projector headlights and they work fine (if not better) for having HID bulbs in there. That being said it seems that the bulbs in the kit you have are poorly rebased and their beam pattern is not concetrated properly. You are getting the shadow of the bulb cap in the housing. Why? Probably due to the wrong bulb length being inside the housing (poorly focused beam). Return your HID set... get a decent set from of Philips-based kit... or talk to steillenmaxima98 on ebay... etc.
  5. Erix, Well, my friend you did not listen :) the lights don't look like 6000k from the pics at all... as far as the dark spot yes its there due to the projector housing... that's why the fog lights are there.... as far as the pattenr it looks odd, that probably to a poorly rebased bulb hence the light pattern. As far as Chinese ballasts, trust me they are crap, as one of mine just burned out after 1 month of use!!! And in addition to that the bulbs FAIL to work with my Philips Ballasts :( hence lesson learned... btw: stillenmaxima98 on ebay sells decent bulbs, give him a holler otherwise I have a guy who has REAL Ultionon HIDs from Philips with slim ballasts... he is n California, and his kits are better priced then anywhere else (same as Xenondepot). but I would leave the bulbs alone if you are happy with outoput.
  6. Antonio, Just some pointers on this... as far as the Bluetooth speed sensor its that purple wire on the second from the left (looking from behind) connector not on the main plug that's the Nav speed sensor wire... as far as removing the side wooden panels... remove the center console panels first (driver side is easier use a flat headed screwdriver) then PULL the wooden panels from the bottom UPand OUT it will take some force so you ahve to be FIRM yet gentle... just keep the direction steady (no side to side wiggling) as those piece are around $700 each... there is a special TAB on the bottom that can be used for taking them out... again just pull from the bottom up and out... alternatively you can help by wedging something from the top of the panel (not to pull from top but just to help it separate a bit for even force.. Also, don't forget to wear a diaper :) as I was scared &&&&less the first time I did it, almost soiled my pants : :cries: Daryl, Did you disconnect the speed wire? If so, how long did it take? Are the wood panels difficult to remove? Antonio.
  7. have you actually done that? My concern is moisture of course. The other course of action would be to mount the ballast to the foglight enclosure itself. I do have the ballast holders, that's not an issue. Even on the body are there decent mounting holes to use. I am considering swapping the ballasts to the Ultinon Slimlines with sep. igniters since the harness is longer and the ballast is much easier to mount due to size. Aain if you have a specific location in mind let me know. Thanks
  8. I have Phillips ballasts (older thicker) and the sad part is the bulb connector is very short. Though I have another set of ballasts (similar to McCullouch in size ) that are smaller with a slightly longer connector that I can take off of the low beams and use on fogs. Again, the issue is mounting position since it has to reach the fog AND fit. There is a lip in front of the battery but to access that I need to either take the bumper off or somehow snake it from under the car since the tie wrap is a hard reach.
  9. thanks I actually found it in the Repair Manual... a bit too much hassle for my taste :)
  10. Has anyone removed their headlamp assembly.. I know of 2 screws, are there anymore? thanks
  11. Just make sure you are stopped and parked. You SHOULD be able to add the phonebook entries to the 1-touch dial.. also was your phone PAIRED when you were trying to add entries... the system is far from perfect and is plagues with problems so don't be surprised.
  12. Well you asked for advice yet you have already made up your mind and don't really want to listen. Regardless, XD HAS a HARNESS and HAS an extra relay so reread the posts, some people like Capirato bought from other sources and did not use the long harness with relay and battery hookup making it a true plug-play kit literally (couple of connections). I mean do as you wish, I have had no problems with any other kit either, if you want to spend the extra money be my guest. Again, just so you know, EVERYONE uses the same D2S Philips bulbs they are simply rebased. MANY other outlets sell Philips Ballast with their kits, and many people have installed OTHER ballasts on their Lexus. Again XD does have A relay and you DO have to run a separate wire to the battery from the relay and then ground 2 wires (one for each ballast) to the car as well as run a harness to your factory harness. (as opposed to connecting 1 plug on each side to the factory harness and then another plug on each side to the bulb, on other kits). Peace
  13. Well here is the info for you: the front turn signal is 4157 and so should be the DRL. The only bulbs used in the car are 4157 7440/7443 and 198s (and of course the dome lights, etc.). As far as HIDs are concerned I happen to wholehartedly agree that XD is overpriced, thoug he sells excellent ballasts (I am not sure about the bulbs since I believe ALL bulbs start out as Phillips D2s and are the rebased its the quality of rebasing that matters). I personally have a Chinese made ballast kit and it works fine. You can also try: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-6000K-H...23042QQtcZphoto I have gotten bulbs from him (literally since he is in the area) and they are fine.... make an offer or even: http://cgi.ebay.com/Xenon-HID-Conversion-K...0QQcmdZViewItem you can't beat $165 and he has excellent feedback I shot him some emails he replies quickly... Also as was said above you CAN piece a kit together using PHILIPS ballasts. Its NOT neccessary to have a relay type harness, if you actually look into Lexus wiring diagrams the Lights are turned on via a relay anyway, but regardless you can always make such a harness VERY cheaply (around $5 relays cost .99 on ebay you just need a 40 or 30 amp SPST or SPDT - just dont use the extra contact, relay)... or buy the harness from XD..... there are even connectors now that will convert a D2S connector on a ballast to an AMP connector for the bulbs that the above guys sell (I personally just do my own connector conversions). THanks
  14. Hey, For those who have done HID Fog Light installs where did you wind up mounting your ballasts? Oddly the harness from the ballast to the bulbs is quite short and I am now trying to decide as to where to mount the ballasts as not to have tension on the harness. thanks
