  1. The gas tank is between the back seat and the trunk.
  2. I can see that much if they are replacing the evaporator, that is buried in the dash. If your compressor just seized up, i would think your evaporator should be fine. The compressor is not hard at all. Couple clips, the 2 AC lines, 3 bolts and it comes right out. And, a compressor from the dealer is a TON of money. I got a used one for $75.
  3. lol, I love it. Mine is down every day.
  4. My compressor and clutch seized up nicely on my 97. I replaced it without a lot of issue. Out and in under 1 hour.
  5. Generally you can run them till their pretty thin. The pad wear sensor will tell you when. If their are under a 1/8" I would probably replace em.
  6. I will answer my own question, NO, they do not clear the brakes. Too wide.
  7. Quick question. I have a 1997 LS400. Found a GREAT deal on some 17" IS300 wheels. Will they clear my brakes?
  8. I have converted every car I have owned, most with high mileage, to synthetic with no issues. The reports of cars burning oil after switching are just myths now. You can switch if you like. Personal preferance. You can go longer on a synthetic than dino oil. I run 10-30 Mobile 1 full synthetic for 5k with no issues. My car has 219k
  9. Congrats on the "new" '97. Good year, that is what I drive. Your going to love her.
  10. I run synthetic blend in my 97 with 215K for 5000 miles, looks pretty good even after all that. Could probably take it out to 7500. The 3K mile oil change isn't required anymore if you ask me. Engines these days are plenty efficient and clean.
  11. The pump will come with a new strainer. The injectors, no, they are related, but not like that.
  12. Could be the solenoid on the starter. Or your ignition switch.
  13. THis is only good for a new car? Accessories?
  14. cap is one of the distributer caps. I would start with plugs, wires, cap, and rotor on both sides. If you still have issues, then the coil.
  15. P0304 = Cylinder 4 misfire P0300 = Multiple Cylinder misfire P0303 = Cylinder 3 misfire P0305 = Cylinder 5 misfire P0307 = Cylinder 7 misfire Looks like a bank is running like crap. Did you replace your Cap, Rotor, and wires? Is so, might be the coil for that bank.
  16. One interesting thing I have noticed since owning my 97 is that I don't get on it as much as I did with my old car. I had a 91 Acura Legend, and always was running her up to red line. Now, I hardly ever go over 3.5k. :)
  17. 50/50. I don't know of any car that takes straight coolant.
  18. The only thing I can think of is old belt dressing, but no modern car needs that.
  19. Check out the kenwood model that is a flush mount, mine look pretty close to perfect, also the factory radio is very boreing at least to me,got to go with the newer look.1 more point the problem with these Ls 400 the radio and the climate control screens fade alot on these cars, lexus really need to do better.I still think these cars are the best.My wife drives a 2006 430 benz and she likes my car better :D You should put up a pic.
  20. Sounds like the fan clutch. Mine is going out, make a grinding noise. Though, I have a lot more miles than you do. :)
