  1. I want you to understand that I AM using the factory amp and speakers. I DID NOT bypass them.
  2. When installing a stereo there are two hot connections. One for constant power; This is the black/white coming from the factory harness that connects to the yellow of the headunit. The other becomes hot when the key is turned on connects to the red of the headset. I did something and lost power to the black/white in the factory harness. I checked all fuses and they looked fine. Where is this fused? Thanks...Dave
  3. Installing a Eclipse CD4000 unit. I am using the factory speakers and amp. I have a harness from metraonline.com. The harness plugs into the factory harness (that the radio used to) and accepts the RCA inputs from the headunit. Once I plugged the headunit into the RCA of the the harness, everything worked. However, the buzzing started once I powered on the headunit. To troubleshoot, I disconnected the RCAs from the headunit and just ran speaker wire/speaker to one of the speaker wire sets on the headunit. The buzz was gone so I knew the amp caused it. Called Metraonline and inquired and they suggested the RCA groundloop isolators. The isolators get connected inbetween the headunit and the metra harness. This help?
  4. I just wanted to post that I figured this out. I added ground loopback isolators to the RCA connection between the headunit and factory amp. FL-GL400 @ circuit city
  5. Ran the Eclipse RCAs to the factory amp. Works but I am getting a constant buzz when the unit is powered on. If I bypass the amp and go direct to the speakers, works fine. Any solution for the buzz? Thanks...Dave
  6. to radio is dead. I was hooking up a new stereo heard the spark and now the black/white wire that was always live is dead. I checked every fuse and they are good. Where does this black/white wire get fused? Thanks for any help Dave
  7. I would like to add that yesterday I cleared the check engine light and trac-off lights. I then let the car run for some time with the lights staying off. I noted that when I accelerated hard the car stumbled. At this point, the check engine light and "trac off" light came on. So, it appears that the egr sensed rich fuel from the stumble and reported back? So is it true to say that the egr valve is likely doing its job and the car is just running bad? Thanks for reviewing this. Dave
  8. The ES 300 is a 98'. Having searched for the p0402 code as suggested, it seems it may be related to the egr valve. I will continue to focus on this egr valve. Where is it? How do i clean it? Thanks!
  9. Check engine and TRAC off lights on, codes P2017 & p0402 reported. Hi, These codes related to the same issue I hope? Thanks for any advice. Dave
