  1. I work the help desk at a Lexus Dealership and I recently was asked about your question exactly, or rather, i was asked to remedy it. Verizon disables the OPP (Object Push Profile) in all of their phones pretty much because they haven't figure out a way to charge you for file transfering. Pretty much every phone from every other service provider with bluetooth is capable of phonebook transfering, be it either entire phonebook at once or numbers individually. The SCH-a950 that was brought to me had serious problems working in any Lexus vehicle. It was able to synch with the system and use the car as a handset, but worked when it wanted to. The phone was originally brought to me because it would sometimes work perfect, sometimes the caller couldn't hear the recipient or vice versa. I brought the phone to a local Verizon store and they were unable to diagnose the problem fully other than the phone was definatly having a problem. They did inform me that the SCH-a950 was equiped with an outdated firmware version from the get-go and was due for a big upgrade and that the new version would be available within a week of when I was there. This was approx. 2 weeks ago, I haven't heard an update since. If you are thinking about getting a Verizon phone, see if you can test an active one first with your vehicle if they will let you before you purchase it. The only Verizon phone that I know about that will do data transfers is the Nokia 6256i. This phone is not availble at Verizon stores, only at 3rd party verizon dealers such as Radio Shack. It might not have all of the bells and whistles like the SCH-a950, but it will do bluetooth data transfers and handset synch. Hope this helps
  2. I want you to do something for me. Tell me whether or not it physically says "Mp3" anywhere on your sound system or anything to that capacity. I work for a Lexus dealership and I just talked to a salesman who said that none of our vehicles are equiped with mp3 cd players. I also went out and took a look at all of our 06 GS inventory and did not see anything to imply that they had MP3 CD playing potential. Did your salesman tell you it had this feature or did you hear it from word of mouth? Let me know and I will investigate this matter further.
  3. There are two different methods to over-ride the driving safety feature dependant upon which version of the navigation you have. I currently can't remember which is which, but try both methods and one should work, if not, go into your dvd menu and tell me which nav version you have and ill see if i can figure it out. Method 1: Get into your sound menu press top left press bottom left press top left press bottom left Method 2: Navigate to your dvd information screen (where you can see which version you have) Press top left press bottom left press top left press bottom left press bottom right this should bring you into the service menu, press and hold the override button for a few seconds and let go, it should change in color confirming the nav override. Hit back to return to main menu. This is not a permanent override and must be done everytime you start the car. Keep in mind this will not enable phone dialing while in motion, only the navigation system.
  4. Not sure if this is what you need, let me know and ill see if i can get you the correct one.
  5. uthorns, Here is the information about the Motorola Razr that you requested and its capabilities. You will be able to transfer data from the phone to the car one at a time. Keep this in mind, you will not be able to transfer multiple files all at once. This phone will allow you to use 24 digits when dialing from the navigation screen. Some phones will only allow 20 digits. You will be able to hear your ringtone through the sound system when receiving a call. Some phones do not support this. Over all the Razr is a very compatible phone. Hope this helps
  6. The way I understand it, those are just timers and do not know what status any of that is at. Example, you can set the Oil to go off at 5000 miles or 4 months but it has no way of knowing if the oil is in good shape and could go a while longer or if it needs to be replaced sooner. Same for the other options like pads. You could say you want to change them every 2 years or x amount of miles and it would warn you around that time, but it doesn't know if they need it or not. If I am mistaken, let me know. ← That is exactly what it does. It is just a timer and not an actual check on the vehicle.
  7. The transfer problem is due to verizon, and not Motorolla. That same phone from t-mobile or cingular will work. Verizon puts some type of encryption on the function of their bluetooth technology and disable the OBEX object push profile necessary for data transfers..
  8. There is a company called Digital Lifestyle Outfitters (DLO) that makes an impressive catalog of ipod accessories, such as car hookups. The TransPod Direct is a niffty little device as it charges the ipod as it is directly connected into your stereo system. You can hook it up either through the tape connector or a auxillary line into the back of your system. The latter of the two will give you better sound quality. Keep in mind if you do use the auxillary input it connects into the port that a cd-changer would go through and would involve removing the stereo and part of the dash to route the cables. My brother has one of these installed in his car and he loves it. The sound quality is great plus, depending on the system you have, you can control scrolling through tracks with your systems controls so you dont have to screw with the ipods navigation as you drive. http://www.dlodirect.com/Products/TPDirect...325999263144941 hope this helps.
