Hi Tom,
Sorry for the delay, but summer was a busy time and since my car was running well I didn't do much with it.
At any rate, here is the new information. I took it to the Lexus dealership and the EGR was plugged. They cleaned it out and the car did run (even better). However, the EGR code 71 (temp sensor code came on.)
They said my EGR had no temp sensor so I would need to spend 225 for a new EGR valve and 177 for a new temp sensor which is attached to the EGR valve.
Here's what I think. Early in the summer I had to have new Computer installed. I think this new computer is looking for a temp sesor, but my car does not have one so therefore I get the code 71.
Now, Is there any way for the computer to be fooled so that it thinks that my car has a temp sensor?
Could I buy a kit and block the EGR altogether and then fool the computer?
I think I am going to post a new thread and try to get multilpe ideas with regards to this problem.
Thanks,
Don
