  1. Hi All, I found the TSB on dashboard squeaks and rattles for my 1999 RX but now I need to know how to remove the dashboard. Are there any diagrams that show where the bolts are? The dealer wants $1300.00 o fix my dashboard ratles and the rattle kit contains felt and foam for $150.00!!! This company is as bad as Mercedes!!
  2. Hi Guys, I own a 1999 RX and have numerous dashboard rattles that I can't seem to find? I remember something about a dash clip upgrade but can't find the thread. Anyone else had these rattles..?? -Acoustic.
  3. Hi All, I own a 1999 RX300 and the vehicle has just started setting an OBDII code of P0172. What does this mean I have re-set it with my code reader twice in two weeks... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Acoustic
  4. OK I changed my throttle position sensor and I still have the flat/dead/lag spot in my throttle response. I even reset the ecu by disconnecting it. I purchased the tps from my local Lexus dealer for $56.00. When I asked for the Toyota club discount my old dealer in NH used to give me the guy just automatically gave me 20% off. All you need to do is ask!! Could it be my knock sensor is bad and severly retarding the timing???
  5. I don't have the Toyota part #, but you can get OEM Lexus throtle position sensor from newlexusparts.com for $44, no tax and free shipping. ← I just checked newlexusparts.com and they claim to be a Lexus dealer but I highly doubt it! Read the line below I copied and pasted from the main page of the site. It's newlexusparts.com's mission statement.... "It is are mission to provide an extraodinary automotive purchase and ownership experience" This is the kind of crap that really ticks me off. A real Lexus dealer would know the difference between the word OUR & ARE. Pull up the "contact us" page and you don't even get a physical address! No thanks I'll pay a little more and purchase from my local Lexus dealer. In my estimation this company is nothing more than one of those fake Rolex distributors...... Just my .02... -Acoustic
  6. I seem to have a flat spot in my accelerator that is causing a lurch. My RX is a 99 and my mechanic seems to think I could have a flat spot in my throttle position sensor. It happens just off of idle where it seems to loose gas and then bam it kicks back in causing a lurch or a hesitation. He has not had a chance to OHM test my throttle position sensor but said he has seen a couple wear out and develop a flat spot near idle because this is the position it rests in?? Has anyone else had this issue? If you are in neutral and step on the gas it hesitates then kicks in like it's bogging then catching up..... -Acoustic
  7. Hi All, Thanks for the advice! I just removed the instrument cluster, took out the bulb and bent one of the tangs so it would not light and re-installed it. I have to say the dash on this car is far easier to work on than Volvos, Mercedes or Audi's. My total time for removing and re-installing the guage cluster was just over 25 minutes and done without a shop manual..... -Acoustic
  8. Hi All, I'm new here and just recently switched from unreliable european autos to a Lexus. To make a long story short I refuse to wear a seatbelt (cousin killed in burning car because rescuse worker could not get her seatbelt off). You can quote the stats all you want but it won't change my mind. My question is how do I get the blinking seatbelt dash light to turn off it's very anoying! Should I put a jumper across the two wires under the seat leading to the seatbelt latch??? These lawyer/liability lights are driving me crazy!!! Thanks, Acoustic
