  2. Hi Mayra, Good work! I love putting miles on my GS400. Here in Oregon it's pretty easy. Out the door and there's the open road. I have lots of time and routinely do about 2,000 fun miles a month. Just turned 370,000. Would like to get 500,000. We'll see. I know the car can do it. Roll On! Bob S. Eugene, OR
  3. 1998 GS400 - 352,000 miles - Owned since new - Perfect - Service Dept's best friend - Why fly when you can drive a car like this - Keeping it actively on the road is fun and less $$$ then a new car. V8's have become rare, and this one is a keeper! - Eugene, OR
  4. 1998 GS 400 - 260,000 miles - Bought new - Eugene, OR. - My Dealer friends probably won't even run the new GS past me., and I probably won't ask about it. - V-8 rules - My GS 400 is "me".
  5. 1998 GS400 267,000 miles. "mature" owner / driver. Don't want car to sound like an old Chevy pickup, but something to complement the great intake sound , and counteract the gray (white) hair as the car and I are now senior citizens. Just do it??? or is there some real reason not to install the Borla exhaust?? Thanks, Power Pack Eugene, Oregon
  6. Yikes! Don't mean to laugh. Just put it in low, floor it (AWD) and go. Keep it in 3 or 4th gear. Our '04 RX330 won't hold 5th gear in a wind going across Wyoming. Good luck! Jetstream - Eugene, OR.
  7. 1998 GS400 - Bought new - * 234,000 Miles * - No drama, just fast, reliable, ageless. Jetstream - Eugene, OR.
  8. 1998 GS400 - 215,000 miles - Original Owner - As new! - Eugene, OR.
  9. * 1998 Lexus GS400 175,000 miles. Pulled 152 mph. I-70 Western CO. Nearby local road, able to top out around 145 before lifting and slowing without braking. About once a month to "blow out the carbon" which was popular saying when I was a teenager some time ago. "In order to win the race, you have to finish." Pick your time and place carefully!! Power Pack Eugene, OR.
  10. My '98 GS400 with 175,000 miles is not effective in snow, and certainly not on ice, which we get in the Pacific Northwest because salt isn't permitted and sand is used sparingly. This is hill and mountain country, not for the timid or reckless. 2nd car is AWD with 4 Nokian Studded Snow Tires on dedicated wheels. Pricey but only way to go in a safe fashion. Next best way is staying home in front of a crackling HD TV Fireplace. Jetstream Eugene, OR.
  11. * You will "love" it! Have my "98 GS400 since new, 170,000 miles, it's perfect, fast, relatively good gas mileage, (depending on right foot) and it looks great. Enjoy your new ride. Bob S. - Eugene, OR.
  12. * 149 MPH * Have topped out numerous times, and "that's it" which is fine with me. "It's not how fast you drive, it's how you drive fast!" Power Pack
  13. Have the same situation with my '98 GS400. HID Right side. Same response from local Dealer. $$$$$. (see my post under GS400.) Another club member recommended the blow dryer too, but I haven't tried it yet. Not sure of what the long term effect will be if I just leave it since the center of the light is clear and night lighting seems to be appropriate. Curious what you do?
  14. Try using a blow dryer on it and see if it evaperates the water on the inside then figure out a way to seal the leak so it doesn't happen again Thanks! That thought crossed my mind but was concerned that lens might crack. Think I'll let my wife do it. She handles those contraptions better then I do.
  15. 1998 GS400 - Passenger side HID Headlight and Parking light are fogged with apparent condensation on the inside. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist and it really annoys me as well as the thought of reduced night vision. One would think that you pop the outer cover, either wipe it out and reseal it, or replace the cover. Not! Dealer indicates that it's all one big mother unit and all but bulb must be replaced. Quote of $850+ including labor. This is only for the right side! Any comments, suggestions, or do I either live with it or bite the bullet. Thanks! Bob S. Eugene, Oregon
  16. Here, in this part of Oregon, snow is rare, but I learned quickly that my GS400 get's to sit near the fireplace (garage) any time there's forcasted snow. I suspect that good dedicated winter tires would be a big help. We have Nokian Studded Winter Tires on our AWD '04 RX330 for the ice and snow on local hills and trips over mountain passes. They are awesome but would probably be annoying on the flats of Ontario. My GS400 is an incredible 3 season car and clearly worth compromising for. If you don't do too many miles (KM's) in the winter, consider getting a seasonal "beater car." Ugly but functional. Bob S. Eugene, Oregon
  17. Have decided to keep my excellent '98 GS400 (150,000 miles) and am getting tired of dealing with Magellen Roadmate GPS. Negatives: Plug in - Remove and hide at stops - Obscured vision - Bulky dash anchor. Need advice on finding a company location for Custom Installation, Hard wired Unit. - ie Mopar Navus Unit. OR, WA or CA. Thank You! Power Pack Eugene, OR.
  18. I would let a Lexus Dealer decide when to service and what kind of fluid to use in your RX330. Then you're "on record" when or if something goes wrong with the transmission.
  19. Thank You. "Bob's Yur Uncle" Bob S. Eugene, Oregon U.S. of A.
  20. Thanks for your reply. I sometimes wonder if RX owners are just passive about the performance aspect of their cars. The '04 RX330 is my wifes daily driver and she's getting tired of all the drama involved in operating this car. Our other car, (mine) is a '98 GS400 with 150,000 miles on it, still perfect and goes like the wind. I know that I'm spoiled! "Wouldn't you rather have a V8"? Love the Clinton line. Thanks, Bob S.
  21. Just back from 3,700 mile trip from OR. thru ID, WY. CO. N.M. and back. '04 RX330 is a great trip vehicle but engine and gear ratios are set up for EPA ratings not reality driving. When this car sniffs a hill it downshifts to 4th. and if on Cruise Control will often downshift to 3rd. in an effort to maintain set speed. Also, high winds on flat roads in Wyoming will cause downshifts. I have taken to kicking off cruise, slapping lever to 4th. and driving like a stick shift without a clutch. Car actually gets better gas mileage between 75 and 85 then 65 to 75 because engine is in a better torque range. Wyoming wind blew off a big piece of exterior window trim! Quality? Power Pack ('98 GS400) Eugene, OR.
  22. "Love My Buttons" - '98 GS400 148,000 Mi. Power Pack Eugene, Oregon
  23. Maybe! '98 GS400 since new; 148,000 mi. perfect car, no parts replacements, fast as the wind. Not sure of new ones with the "Bigger L" on the front. Disapointed that GS300 has more H.P. then 400/430. Hybrid, Not! Will wait for next GS V8 or just keep on keepin on with my wonderful "98. Power Pack Eugene, Oregon
  24. My 1998 GS400, bought new, has 140,000 miles on it and is perfect. To me, the 400 says Lexus and the 300 says Toyota even though they both have the same parentage. Go for it! good luck. Power Pack - Eugene, Oregon
