  1. I have a 1992 es300 and, shocker its overheating again. My neighbor across the street works at a Lexus Dealer. He did something he called a "soda pop test" where when I turned my car over the water we put in started fizzing, boiling. The oil on the dpistick also looked chocolate milky. So in his previous experiences he said its the head gasket, and seems like many others have had the same problem. I will also run him by the other tiny problem fixes members have posted about. Anyway, he qouted me $1500-$2000 to do it in my driveway. I found this auction on eBay, is this a great deal for the parts? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/92-93-3-0L-...7QQcmdZViewItem Also, along with this kit what other parts will I need for the gasket replacement procedure? He's also going to replace the water pump, timing belt, etc... I'm trying to make this inexpensive as possible. Thanks for reading, and any help people can offer.
  2. I have a set of Rubbermaid mats that are real thick rubber, with a tough cloth on them too, i have had a drink in the car spilled on them, made for easy clean up. They were fairly cheap too, like 20 bucks for 4 mats, fit well also.
  3. Yeah I might be leaning more toward an aftermarket head unit w/ ipod/satellite radio capabilities...selling the lexus unit is a great idea too..thanks for the input
  4. Can I hook up a portable dvd player to the stock stereo system through an rf modulator like a non-factory cd changer or no?
  5. OK great SK...thanks!.......I saw the picture of your TV your profile.. looks nice, does the screen cover up the A/C controls so much that you can't adjust them?
  6. First , does anyone have a motorized single-din TV/DVD in their es? Also could anyone post a link with a picture of their setup, or where i can see it set-up? Can it be accomplished by mounting it in the Metra mounting kit, or is it wayyy to flimsy? I noted in SK's FAQ that if you replace the head unit, it wont cooperate well with the stock system..well, is it possible at all even if the unit im looking at only does 15 watts RMS?Or will the stock amp not cooperate with any aftermarket unit? I know a car audio shop down the street who do super super work, and theyve done a ton of custom/workable jobs for friends and I.. I know thats a ton of questions/requests, I would be very gracious if someone could help me or point me in the right directon... Thanks..
  7. Thanks a bunch, hopefully i can get him to subtract the pad/rotor price from the sale price...If that is the problem...I'm not a fan of leather at all, but no roof is a little disappointing..Ive just had very little luck finding an es300 around or below 100k mi, under $5k Anybody else's opinion? Thanks again.
  8. Oh, carfax said one owner, and they traded to the dealer they bought it from, where it was then wholesaled, and picked up by indy dealer who im buying it from ...orignal owners were old couple in allentown, PA, they still have all three keys too!! and the lock/unlock work fine...my assumption is that it was babied/and didnt have a heavy commute to work...
  9. Hello all, this is my first post.. Ive been looking for cars recently and I came across a 1992 ES300, very very very clean inside and out, 103k miles. cloth, no roof for $4750 USD. I put a down pmt on it so the seller whouldnt show it anymore.. Anyway, It runs perfect, real smooth...except at slow speeds and when breaking at slow speeds there's a noise coming from what sounds like the rear, a rubbing noise, a "whish a whish a whish" sound ... it not extremely loud I was interested in knowing what it might be, how much$$... I really don't know too much about autos or this lexus, thats why I came here... should I buy it even with the problem? Any help/advice very welcomed Thanks.
