  1. I removed the rubber boot and gave it a couple sprays of WD-40. Still not luck.
  2. I've tried removing the rubber boot, unattaching the switch from the body, and checking wiring. Manually pressing and pulling the switch as far as it can be extended and still not luck.
  3. I've got a similar problem on my 96 ES 300. The rear passenger door switch is not working. The cluster on the dash is not lite when the door is open. The power lock works perfectly with the remote. The annoying thing is that trying to strap my son into the the car seat with that door being first opened, the auto locking feature kicks in about 10-15 seconds later. The interior light won't turn on unless I open any one of the other doors first. I will call my dealer or look for it at my local salvage yard. Does anyone off hand how much the switch would cost? Will a Camry switch work? There shouldn't be problems with installing a new switch (ie. alarm shorting or reprogramming) or anything to watch out for? Thanks in advance.
  4. 1996 ES 300 Bought from private original owner $11,500 CAD in October 2005, 72,500 Kilometres Fixes from a friend that works at a Lexus dealer. First month fixes: - Valve cover gasket - Top engine mount - Oil pan gasket - Oil Change - Bosch platinum spark plugs & seals - Above total of $550 CAD - New BF Goodrich Traction T/A $510 CAD - Front and rear wheel alignment $60 CAD - Replacement master key (non-Lexus no remote, laser cut) $40 CAD Future Fixes: - Fog lights were missing when I bought the car - Paint chips and possibly getting the hood repainted - T-belt and CV boot @ 100K The speedometer needle sometimes darkens at certain spot. A few of the backlit "green" lights on the radio buttons don't light up. Minor problems that I will not waste money to fix. This is my first Lexus and it runs very smoothly with good acceleration. I am very happy with the car in terms of quality, comfort, and power. I use it for commuting to work. I find the parts and service is quite expensive at the dealer. You really need to shop around to get the best prices. I hope to keep this car for 8-10 years. I am now tempted to find an used LS400.
  5. I just recently bought a 96 ES300 and the same thing happen with "ERR" on the display. The CD changer worked when I test drove the car. It turns out I had the CDs with the label facing up. Put the CDs with label facing down, all my original CDs and CD-Rs are now working perfectly. I am use to putting it in a certain direction on my ML320. It was a pretty silly thing, but it might be the same thing.
  6. Tap recyling currently does not have 95-96 fog lights, but they look like a reliable source. Since the stock fog lights are rectangular and white light, I will try to keep huniting for it.
  7. I'm a newbie to this forum, but spent a couple of weeks browsing. I just bought a 1996 ES300 with very low mileage (46K) and in excellent condition. I've just noticed the fog lights are missing in the front of the car. The dealer is charging $672 CAD for the pair. I believe the originals were a yellow light and don't know if they nice or not. I can settle for aftermarket products. Can anyone recommend a pair of good fog lights that will fit at a reasonable price. Thanks in advance.
