  1. I though the RX requires 91 octane.
  2. The latest news report had the complaints up tp 20 now. One thing I would not rule out is that these people are trying to cash in on the up coming class action suits. This is the good old USA after all :) Either way, this is not a good place for Toyota to be in right now. It is a good thing that Toyota have deep pockets. After all this, I would say their rainy day fund will be pretty much gone.
  3. Here in Boston, we had a pretty mild winter with below average snow fall. It’s the cities south of us that got hit hard such as New York, Philadelphia and DC, It’s about time we get a break :) By the way, the car dealers usually insured these promotions, it doesn’t cost the car dealer anything if it snows more than 6" on St Patrick's day.
  4. Seems like most Toyota and Lexus dealers are mostly done with their warranty phase and they are starting to go back to the sales mode. On a side note, the Feds have received 10 complaints so far about sudden acceleration on Toyota and Lexus that have already had the recalls done, the Feds are investigating. http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/03/autos/Toyo...ndex.htm?hpt=T2
  5. Dealers are getting desperate now. A local dealer offers one year free car payment if it snows more than 6 inches here on St Patrick’s day :)
  6. I know this is a Lexus forum, but I have to say I am glad an American car company is once again competitive. I had a Ford Mustang in college 25 years old, when that car was 2 years old, the interior started to fall apart. The power train was still in good shape, but like many American cars build in that era, everything else was subpar. I swore I would never buy another American car again after the Mustang. Fast forward 25 years, I am now considering the Ford Taurus and the Lincoln MKS as my next car among others. It has been a long time since any American cars have been on my shopping list. Like many others, if all thing are equal, I would rather buy American than foreign.
  7. Rumor has it that Toyota's big incentive announcement to bring customers back is 0% financing and low lease rate. A little disappointing if you ask me :(
  8. With all the problem Toyota and Lexus is having, Ford have leap to the # 1 spot in US sales. http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/02/news/compa...ndex.htm?hpt=T3
  9. NC, I just realized you have a last gen GS. I would definitely keep that car, it is built much better than the current gen. In fact, that was one of the reason why I bought the 3rd gen GS, because I like the 2nd gen so much. Unfortunately, the 3rd gen GS turn out to be a big disappointment. Good Luck with the new addition to the family and head south, young man :)
  10. You can buy a Lexus extended warranty from this guy Troy for about 30 to 40% off what the dealer will charge you and it is the same warranty, but like others have said, I would wait until right before the bumper to bumper warranty runs out. http://fd-warranty.com/ Any information on this company (reviews, business ratings, etc?) I've heard that buying warrantees from anyone other than the manufacturer can be frought with perils, even if the price is good. I have bought from this company before and so has my friends and family. This is not a aftermarket warranty, they sell genuine Toyota and Lexus platinum extended warranty. I have gotten quotes from this company before and ask my local dealer to match it. Sometime reluctantly they will match it.
  11. Did Toyota release its big incentive announcement yet to gain back its customers, it was suppose to be announce in March. Will it be free extended warranty or maybe across the line price cut.
  12. I saw a few HS on the road, it is not a very good looking car. Then again, I think the Prius looks pretty cheap too considering the price. Why must Toyota and Lexus design their hybrid to look so geeky? The mild hybrid GS450h do look pretty sporty though, but I just dont see the point of the GS hybrid at all since the gas milage is not that great and it has about the same power as the 8 cyl GS.
  13. Pricing will be the key for the LF-CH. If it is going to start in the mid 30s and gets up to low 40s loaded, then Lexus will have a tough sell.
  14. NC, just wondering, are you concerned at all about putting the new born in a Sienna or Sequia with all the problem Toyota have been having? I know I would be :(
  15. I drive the Prius or the Camry hybrid at work maybe once or twice a week, perhaps fun to drive is not the right term. I am amazing at the gas mileage this car gets, We took a 100 miles trip with 4 people in the car, The gas gauge didnt even move by 1/8 of a tank. Its a great car for people who do a lot of mileage. For me, it does nothing since I drive about 5000 miles a year and 3 miles to work everyday. You dont have to tell me how main stream it is. I live in town where Prius is as common as MB, Lexus, Audi and BMW. I guess you have to be rich to be green :)
  16. or you can also get a Vasitech navi lockout over ride install like many other Lexus owners, personally, I dont like to rip apart my dash board unless I have to. See I would like to. I even started a thread about which one to get. While I don't want to tear apart my dash either I would since I would also be gaining some sort of iPod integration as well. So to me that would be worth it. Any recommendations as to which one to get? We (wife and I) have iPod Touches and I'm looking at getting an iPhone. Don't want/need video on the screen. Thoughts? Was thinking SL2i-UP. At a penny under $200 it's worth a shot IMO. Sorry, I dont know much about the bypass module since I didnt want to take apart my dash and possibly voiding some warranty.

  18. Those looks good, are they the Philips bulbs? halogens never look as white as HID. To me, that low beam look like maybe 5000K and the fog 3000K. The biggest problem with those buld is visibility when its raining.
  19. Thats is what we do, we have a Germin we use find restaurants, gas station, alternative routes or what ever else when we go on long trips. The Lexus Navi is too restrictive, one should not have to pull over just to use the Navi.
  20. To put things in perspective, I use to be able to drive my GS350 at a 85 MPH with one hand on the wheel and the car would not drift at all, even on windy days.
  21. Congrats NC211, my wife always wanted 2 kids as well, but I held my ground among things :) How about a BMW X5 or the new X3, should fit 2 baby seat in there with no problem. The Sienna is pretty nice too if you want a mini van. I would get the mini van for the wife and pick up that BMW that you always wanted :)
  22. That is correct, its all pre paid, nothing is free in life. There is also a Chevolet dealer near where I live that has been offer a life time powertrain warranty for any car on their lot, the warrantty is not transferable. I would imagine a warranty like that would cost maybe in the $2000 region.
  23. Come on, now we are going to start counting dealer install options? :) Fun to drive is a relative thing, but no matter how you put it, the Prius is not a fun car to drive unless you like watching the MPG meter all the time. I agree the Prius has a lot of high tech equipment, but high tech equipemnts doesnt doesnt make for a luxury car. As far as what makes a BMW a sport luxury car, it seems like you did not like my definition of what a luxury car should be, maybe you should ask the automotive websites why they classify the BMW as a sport luxury car and not the Prius. Of course the Prius appeal to a lot of people, but those owners are a special bunch, thats all I was saying.
  24. My point is that people pay $30000 for a IS and a BMW because theya re paying for sport performance and luxury and the Prius doesnt offer either. By the way, I am not sure which site you were looking at, but the Civic hybrid has no options and the MSRP is $27000 and the Civics is more fun to drive as well. For future reference, I am only comparing prices with the car max out with options, so we can compare apples to apples.
  25. The Darth Raider still have a lot of fight inside him, did you see that interview he had where he was debating Joe Biden?
