  1. HI Please let us know how much for the Pump if you buy a rebuilt and if it was on line how much for shipping and handling, must of us soon or later will be going your path of buying a new pump. When you refill use the lucas automatic transmission so youll fluid will last longer without any problems or new pumps to buy. Those lucas products are great to prevent but it they are added when it is too late they can not do much. You could also find a good hydrolic shop and have them rebuilt your pump it will be a lot cheaper if you install it yourself if mechanically inclined to do so. There is even a tutorial on lexls.com on how to rebuild the earlier pumps that should be about the same as ours. C
  2. Hello: The fluid is the life of this system. The first thing you need to check is that. I would advise to use the Lucas treatment for the rack, it will help a lot with your problem. The first thing you always need to check is the fluis quantity. The bad noises seem air in the system, just take the cap off and rotate the wheel couple of times, that should get the air off, and make sure the fluid is in the limit as specified in the dipstick. Let us know how it goes, and if you had to replace make other repairs. The rack is rebuildable in many instances. But it is hard to find someone who rebuils it. If needed I would buy and aftermarket one and save a lot on the part. They usually have warranties that are couple of years at least if not lifetime warranty. C PR
  3. Hi: Check the engine compression, and transmission if those are normal go to the second answer. Make sure the timing belt is properly aligned and the other parts also. It could be out of timing due to wrong alignment of the parts when assembled. I f you did the work have someone else check it out, and if it was Mechanic X take it to Mechanic Y, in other words have someone else check it out. C
  4. But on the other hand it could be the belt, if it is not, just put the old one back and save that new one for a later time in the trunk of the car. If it is not the belt then the pump is your thing!
  5. Hi: Change the belt if you need to chang it, but it will not solve the problem. You need to change or rebuilt the pump. I would be checking with a hydrolics shop they probable can rebuild it for about 50.00 if you take it out yourself and buy the rebuild kit. My advice. C
  6. Hello: Do you know at which mileage are they supposed to be changed, in accordance with the Lexus manuals? C
  7. I would recommend to replace the pump or have a profesional rebuild it again or get another one. The PS pump is the problem of the noise, I had a similar problem with a Mitsubishi Diamante PS pump that used the same fluid as the Lexus one. I bought a rebuilt one, never heard the noise again. So there you have it, rebuild it, buy a rebuilt one, buy a new one, or keep the noise and the old one, and there are always salvage parts. All this if the Lucas oil aditive did not do the JoB! C
  8. Yes you can take it to Pep Boys and have it scanned, or you can take it to a Toyota Dealer and they should be able to help you. Also you could try to read the sensors one by one and determine the one that is causing the problem. www.lexls.com has a great tutorial on how to do it in your model. C
  9. You can find a tutorial in the www.lexls.com , a lot of great info in the site, check it out, but that tutorial is for a 90-94, but it should be about the same for your model year. It is still a filter with two lines and a retainer bracket. I just bought one today, I will change it before going for my 75,000 miles check up. C
  10. I have been looking to see at what mileage the Fuel filter should be changed. I had a Supra and it was good for 50,000. But in the Lexus I own know I have not been able to see at what mileage is recommended by the factory. If anybody knows please let me know. Sincerely, C. Cardona
  11. Hello: Most likely is the Oxygen sensor. Disconnect Battery for an hour. REconnet if it comes back after couple of trips etc. is one of them. You will need to have it scanned to see which one is bad, since it has 4 of them. C. Cardona PR
  12. Hello: Changing the Fluid is very nice, but remember that the transmission has also a filter, and 3 to 4 magnets on the bottom of the fluid pan. The filter needs to be changed at least every 30,000 miles and the magnets clean from the metal shavings produced due to the normal wear and tear of the metals. That is why it is so important to change the filter and clean the magnets. I had a Mitsubishi Diamante and the trans was very similar to this one, I used to change fluid every 15,000 thousand miles and filter every 30,000, never had to rebuilt the trans and the car had over 180,000 when I sold it.
