  1. When the car is in park or neutral it will idle and the engine will rev properly. In reverse, drive, 2, and L, the rpm drops below 1k and hitting the gas wont get it to rev properly anymore. the car has been sitting for a couple weeks. I just changed the oil, oil filter, air filter, knock sensor, radiator, and added transmission fluid. The car recently overheated and the cylinder head had to be re-manufactured.
  2. Hey everyone if anyone with the 2jz-ge engine could please pop their hood and take some pictures of how the vacuum hoses should be set up I would be forever in debt. I was able to read the hose schematic enough for the hoses around the throttle body, but when i get around the EGR Valve and the top of the Air intake chamber I get lost. I got a rent-a-mechanic to drop by my house to replace my cylinder head, and when he put the engine back together he couldn't figure out how to put the hoses back. I think he even lost a hose. Once he got the engine running well enough to rev it when he pulled the throttle under the hood he left for the day and said it was done. Before I found out that 3 hoses were not connected I tried to test drive it. Right now the engine can runs, but the car will move slowly. Only hitting about 20-30 mph even though i'm flooring the pedal. heres the schematic which I can't read enough to be helpful
  3. I was just told by my body shop man that I could probably get the shocks at AutoZone. He has been right on before. I've yet to inquire at AutoZone. Today is your lucky day! Although the gas filled trunk lift supports are only thought to be available through the Lexus dealer at a ridiculously high price, there is a little known cross reference with the Acura Legend Hood lift supports. The Pep Boys Part number for the lifts is SG326003 and the OEM brand name is Lift-O-Mat. I just installed them on my '95 GS 300 and they work great!!! The only difference is on the original version there is a liitle arm on the shaft that keeps the non-ball end from sliding off the shaft. However, you will see a grove in the shaft. This grove is for the e-clip which is intended for the replacement model. So the bottom line is buy the part number above (make sure the ball is included in the package as some are missing) take off your old shocks and install the new ones with the e-clip. The e-clip is not included however you can buy an assortment at any auto parts place or at home depot. I bought my assortment package at O'Reilly's and the largest one in the package fit like a charm. To hell with the Lexus dealer monopoly on parts. Where there is a will, there is a way. No more hunting for Lexus trunk lift support gas filled shocks. Now you kmow...good luck! I was just told by my body shop man that I could probably get the shocks at AutoZone. PS: The Lift-O-Mat OEM Trunk Lift Supports cost about $25 each at Pep Boys. uh could you tell me what year on that acura legend? I was gonna get mine from an autozone thats nearby but they keep asking me that
  4. 1995 GS 300 I'm in the process of replacing the trunk lifts, just found that little hint about the acura legend Lift-O-Mat so I'm gonna call up some supply stores tommorow. I was wondering about the level of difficulty of replacing my O2 sensor and my throttle position sensor. And if anyone knows of any DIY guides around the net. That carpet is a definite (insert expletive here) to clean. I've barraged it with every kind of chemical in the house, Used carpet cleaning and steam cleaning machines but I still can't get it to its original grey color. Thinking about just throwing down some chap rubber mats to cover up the uglieness Oh and my seats are tore up. (don't blame me, got the car second hand) so I'm kinda on the edge about replacing it with new leather or going with vinyl or whatever. Also got to get a paint Job, any advice on what color I should get? and whats a decent place to get it done. I want a really nice job but people around here are telling me to save my cash and run over to Maaco. The red led lights on the bar in my speedometer went out recently and I went to the salvage yard and just replaced the whole thing for about 50$, but now they are going out again so I also need some info on that. Thanks alot for all the help people. Peace and Love [edit] just remembered some other stuff thats not working. The back right passenger door does not lock automatically, I have to lock it manually. the vanity lights do not light up. the air conditioning lights that tell what temp you are at does not light up hoping these are just fuses but haven't been able to find the right fuse to replace
  5. yeah not the best idea to let that go too early, but a good way to clean that stuff is to pour like coke on it, very good way to clean up battery acid and other stuff
  6. Hey I'm trying to remove the passanger side chair of my '95 gs 300 because it came off the track and I need to clean it up in order to put it on properly, has anyone ever had to do this before. Could you please help tell me which screws and stuff I should remove without messing everything up? thanks alot -Ruffie
