  1. Hi, I just got my son a '98 ES300, and he is having all sorts of cabin heat problems. If anyone has this PDF please send me a copy. I'm sure it will save me a ton of time troubleshooting. Thanks, Hank
  2. If the car has less than 80,000 miles, you might be able to get the leak fixed under warranty. My 2000 RX300 developed a rear seal leak at 79,200 miles. I brought it to the dealer and he fixed it under warranty, no questions asked. While I hate the cost of most Lexus repairs, they tend to do a great job with real warranty situations.
  3. I wouldn't let my Lexus dealer near my car for air/fuel sensor problems. Most of these are caused by the intake air sensor (MAF) fouling. That can be cured in 5 minutes with a screw driver and some carburator cleaner. You might also need someone to turn off the "check engine" light by clearing your error codes. My Lexus dealer (a 20 minute drive each way) wants $120 to diagnose the problem, and requires replacing, rather than cleaning, the dirty sensor at a cost of another $200. My 2000 RX300 now has almost 90,000 miles. I've had the engine light go off twice due to air/fuel prolems, and fixed it both times for 50 cents worth the cleaner, and 1/100 th the hassle of taking it to the dealer.
  4. We had a heat wave a few years ago, and real temps got over 100 F. Parked in the sun, my RX-300 hit 113 F (45 C). After driving for a while it still registered 102-104 F.
  5. Download the factory one for free. Remember copyright laws may apply. http://www.unc.edu/~scorcher/1999/ How is this one for a 2000 RX300? Or is there a specific manual for each year?
  6. This just happened to me today! Just like what happened to dragnfly. I was listening to my radio. I went to turn it up when I noticed that I couldn't adjust the volume on the lexus dashboard, either up or down. I shut off the sound system and turned it back on, but all sound had disappeared. Everything else seems to work perfectly. On the radio, I can change from FM to AM and switch stations. I can see that the changes are occurring on the info screen. On my CD player, discs change, and tracks play, complete with elapsed times. When I put a cassette in the tape moves as usual. But I get no sound at all from any audio source. I can't hear anything via the lexus radio, tape deck, or cd changer even if volume is maxed. None of the lower sound controls work. I can push the left button to turn the system on and off but turning the volume knob does nothing. I can push the right button to toggle through the sound options like treble and bass, but they all default to zero, and turning the knob does not change them. I can push the mute button but nothing happens and I don't see the little "mute" displayed on the info screen. I changed both audio fuses, thinking one must have blown. But the fuses looked fine and the system still has no sound. I thought it might be the power amplifier, so hopefully getting that component repaired or replaced will do the trick. I just have to figure out how to get to it.
