  1. I took my 2001 GS430 in for 90k service last week. After receiving it back, I was unable to put fuel in it without the gas station pump shutting off after less than half gallon. I have to repetitively to this to get any gas in it. I could hear the hissing sound of air pressure being released if I pulled the nozzle out after the shut off occurred. I took the car back and the dealer charged me $550 to replace the filler neck which they said has a pressure release valve that was probably the culprit. It didn't fix the problem. They have the car back and can't seem to locate what is wrong. They are waiting on a call back from Lexus support. Any ideas on this? It is a very annoying problem. <_< Yes, I tried several different pumps at several different gas stations just to make sure. Thanks!
  2. I have my stock 2001 GS430 suspension with about 60k miles on it. All parts are completely functional. I replaced them with a Tein CS system. If anyone wants them, all they need to do is come pick them up. I'm located in Plano, TX.
  3. $600. I thought this was fair for the amount of work involved.
  4. Do a search on myspace.com on GS400 magnaflows. There are a couple of videos with sound out there on exhaust mods to the GS400. See attached video clip of my car. I put on S&S headers, full custom dual 2.25" pipes, and Borla muffler rear section for our cars. Mine is a GS430, but all parts should also fit your car. Sounds pretty mean.... exhaust clip1 exhaust clip2
  5. Below are a couple links. The first is a link to Club Lexus forum for recent mods done to my car by JP Importz in Dallas, TX. I had TEIN CS coilovers installed as well as S&S headers, Borla mufflers, and a custom built 2.25" exhaust. The performance increase is noticeable in both handling and performance. If anyone is interested in these mods, I'm glad to answer any questions and share my opinions on the various mods. The other mod I have is the SRT intake. Below are also exhaust clips of my car. 6. Be prepared to spend about $1000. This happen to my previous 99 GS400. Just locked up one morning after giving us trouble for about a month with being hard to turn. I had to have it towed to the dealer. The keys get worn along with the lock column. Dirt buildup and wear and tear eventually keep the key from working. They had to mechanically re-key the entire car but were able to transfer the electronic portion of the key so it didn't require a new ECU. Sorry for the bad news.
  7. I recently had my brakes serviced at a local Lexus dealer which included new pads and rotor machining. I too heard squeaking as you described. I took it back in and they told me the applied some anti-squeak snake oil to the brakes - the squeak is gone now. What they probably did was take the car out on the highway, got it up to 120 or so, then slammed on the brakes to break in the pads and removed and excess pad material that may have been rubbing on the rotor in a high spot.
  8. Thought I'd try again this evening.....anyone have any real numbers for exhaust systems?
  9. I have owned both a 99 GS400 (same as 98) and now a 2001 GS430. Both cars have been flawless with almost no problems. I religiously service my cars. The only reason I got out of the 99 GS400 is because it was totaled by someone who didn't believe stop signs applied to him. The GS300 is supposed to be very reliable also but the 400 has the V8 and is much more powerful and fun to drive in my opinion.
  10. I started this thread because by searching exhaust systems I see hundreds of posts about this system or that but no real dyno numbers! I own a 2001 GS430 with SRT intake as my only mod to date. I've just ordered the S&S headers which I found lots of positive feedback on. I would like to add a cat back or just rear section exhaust when I get the headers installed. I'm concerned that many exhaust systems have piping that is too large in diameter thus reducing your low and mid range torque/Hp. I'd like to see some dyno numbers from those with various exhaust mods if they exist? Not just peak Hp/torque, but the entire curve before and after the system install. Anyone have recommendations for a system where they did NOT notice loss of low end torque/Hp?
  11. Is there a cat back system that you recommend to work well with the S&S headers on a GS430 car? I was looking at the GREDDY EVO2 but after reading your post am concerned the pipe size may be too large. The piping is 60 - 70 mm (2.36" - 2.75"). I plan on leaving the stock Y pipe. Thanks
  12. I had a similar problem on my GS430 and it turned out to be related to the intake air flow sensor. Just an idea for the dealer to check. If the car doesn't know how much air it is taking in, then it will start, idle rough, then die.
  13. I would like to post an update here. After talking with Mo at SRT and him rechecking the SRT ECU to make sure it was programmed correctly, I found out I had mounted the MAF 180 degrees out of sink in the new hardware. The car wasn't starting because it could not register the airflow with the new intake. This was my mistake. :chairshot: The problem was found and corrected this weekend. The car now runs incredible. It sounds mean when you romp on it but is still quiet under normal driving. I wanted to post this in order to defend SRT's product. It works great if installed correctly!
  14. I need help and have been unable to locate a similar thread to my problem. My 2001 GS430 was running great. Friday evening I installed the SRT intake per the instructions. When it was time to turn her on and test her, she starts as normal then just dies. Won't even idle. I hear a loud humming sound coming from the module on the left side of the throttle body after trying to start the car. The sound doesn't sound healthy. I called SRT and confirmed all my wiring was correct. I was worried that the piggyback ECU they provided was possibly doing something weird, so I disconnected it and put the wiring back to stock. The car still has the same problem. Starts as normal and dies, won't idle. Same noise is coming from left side of throttle body. I'm beginning to think this may be a problem with the throttle body controls and be unrelated to the SRT intake but it sure is a coincidence. The car is still under factory warranty so I'm wondering if the best thing to do is to put the stock airbox assembly back on and get it towed to the dealer. Anyone have an suggestions as to what the problem may be? UPDATE! I replaced the stock hardware and took the SRT plumbing off as I was preparing to take it in for warranty work. Now the car starts and runs fine. I put the SRT hardware back on and the problems happens again. I guess I'll be leaving her stock until I can talk to the guys at SRT. I don't get it. I double checked all the vacuums lines and connections. Thanks, Jeff
