  1. Hi, I know this is an old thread, but I just moved to Switzerland, and have a '04 RX, AWD, with air suspension. Where I live it is mandatory to have snow chains, in addition to winter tires! If in an accident, and the circumstances called for snow chains, and you did not have them fitted on the driving tires, you are 100% at fault. Hence, I have just bought Pewag SUV Sportmatik snow chains for my 235/55/18 winter tires. Of course there is only 1 pair, which I have tested fit on the front tires. I am not able to custom add wheel spacers, and would like to know how to use the snow chains in the RX, and what to look out for when only fitting snow chains on the front tires? KB
  2. Definately some groovy stuff in these menues, now if someone could just document what it all is? BTW - Here is another (more easy) way of getting into the menues: • Hold the info button in, and whilst doing so turn the lights from off to on (not auto) and back to off 4 times until a menu appears. • Do it again from the same menu and another set of options appear. To get out, press the Display button for a few seconds. KB
  3. Guys, I need some help: I have tried all of the above, and I can get into the "secret menu" with no problem, BUT when I try to do the GPS override, I get nowhere. When I have pressed the upper left corner ... etc., and press the lower right corner, I get the coverage map of the various European countries. If I try the other way, nothing happens at all. I don't know if this matters, but I have the RX300, 2004, w. ML sound system and navigation. The version is 2004-2005, ver. 2, for the European market. TIA
  4. Hi again, I can't believe I am the only one this has happened to, but anyways, here is an update: I went up to the Lexus dealership, and they replaced the height calibration sensor in the right side, and that solved the problem. It turns out that this sensor is a bit exposed when they replace the brakes in the rear on the RX. As I just had my 30K KM checkup, and they replaced the standard brakes with ceramics (for free), they think someone may have "bumped" the sensor. It was fixed in 1 hour, and now all is great again. I love this car.
  5. Hi, Following the 2nd service (30K KM) on my RX300/'04 (w. air suspension), I am experiencing a strange problem: The right side is not raising or lowering when I change the setting in the dash, and the height indicator in the console keeps blinking for a lloonngg time. Also, the car drives like the right side is almost riding directly on the tire. I have to counter steer left and all bumps go thorugh the chassis like there were big boulders. I called Lexus and they said that sometimes the sensors broke, and it sounded like the right sensor basically needs replacing. This is under warranty, but it will take some days to get the part in stock. They also said I can safely drive the car in the meanwhile. Has anyone else experienced this, and is Lexus telling me the truth when they say it is safe to drive? TIA, KB
  6. I have the RX300, 2004, w. ML sound system and navigation. The version is 2004-2005, ver. 2, for the European market. Is this the latest one available?
  7. Please let us know how you make out and whether the VAIS lives up to your expectations! There was a thread reporting success with the VAIS posted by Preiner 09-30-05 but it did not specify whether it was with the Levinson system. You might also find the following links to installation pictures useful; http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalLexusRX3 (RX 330) http://www.emba42.com/lexus/ (GX470) http://www.priusonline.com/viewtopic.php?t=5768 (Prius, but some similar issues) Good luck! Harrier ← Did anyone ever succeed in hooking up the VAIS system to a Mark Levinson sound system?
  8. Do you have a question here? If you like your tires and how they drive in winter conditions I wouldnt change a thing but in my opinion a winter tire' would' probably be even better. ← I have a set of Bridgestone Blizzak LM25 18" on my RX300, works like a charm, and I live in the mountains in Switzerland. On snow, ice, and even in slush they have me stopping and accelerating like I was driving summer tires. Only problem is fuel consumption.
  9. Yeahr, I figured that one out as well, but that'll look daft. I was more wondering if I was installing it correctly?
  10. Does anyone know if this will work on the RX300 with the Mark Levison stereo system? TIA
  11. Guys, I am trying to install the Lexus Ski Rack on the factory fitted Roof Rack on my RX300. I have the extenders to fit the ski rack onto the cross-bars, and it seems to me that there is no way of preventing someone lifting the whole rack, including extenders, of the cross-bar. Is that true? The ski rack itself locks, and that prevents someone lifting the ski rack off the extenders, but the extenders are merely tied onto the cross-bar with the hand tightened bolt. TIA
  12. Also; no matter which year RX you have, if you have spend the extra cash and bought the Mark Levinson version, you cannot hardwire your IPod. But, you get a cool build-in cassette-player.
  13. I have an RX300SE-L from '04, and I can't get to the System Menu. I press Menu, and then the "DVD" icon. It shows the version (2004-05 ver. 2), and in the bottom right there is a button for "Covered Areas". I have tried the above mentioned combination 25 times, and nothing seems to get me to the System Menu. BTW - I have the European versin of the Sat. Nav., does that make a difference?
  14. Guys, I would like to get a bit more kick out of my RX300 bought only last year. Here (in Switzerland) we didn't have the RX330 option, which I would probably have opted for. I found on the www.tte.de that I could buy a Compressor Kit (201BHP to 248 BHP) if I had the XU1 version. However I have the XU3. Does anyone have any ideas on how to squeeze a bit more out of a standard RX300? Thanks in advance.
