  1. It's really a larger ML. A few goodies and a new engine but the transmission and all-wheel drive system is basically the same. The GL for the most part will drive and ride better than an LX470 on the road but the LX will out perform it to death off-road. The GL offers more third seat room but is not as wide in the first and second row. Expect many first year problems with the GL as has been Mercedes history the past few models.
  2. I had a dealer tech tell me they have had to loosen the engine mounts and exhaust connections then put the LX in reverse with the parking brake on and re-tighten everything to get rid of some harmonic vibration issues on some LX's.
  3. I had the same issues on an 03 Landcruiser with 18" tires and a new 06 LX 470. Replacing the tires with Michelin Pilot LTX instead of the crappy Dunlops helped greatly. These trucks with the solid rear axle make any vibration seem extreme...also the great road feed back in the wheel can make a slight tire balance issue increase. Get you some great tires and a tech that can road force balance them and your problem will be solved.
  4. Hey guys Lexus stepped up to the plate and replaced my Duncraps with the Michelin Pilot LTX and I'm a happy camper!!! Perfect ride and vibration free!
  5. I went from an 03 Landcruiser to the 06 LX470 just because of the increased power. The new engine is alot quicker than the old one. I have been very disappointed in the CHEAP Dunlop tires and Lexus not being able to balance them correctly!!
  6. Hi all! Newbie here also. I bought an 06 LX470 two weeks ago and I agree with Tony that the power is a vast improvement. I had an 99 and 03 Landcruisers also and there is no comparison in power. My only complaint is the crappy Dunlop tires and getting them to balance. On my LC's I had to go to the Michelin Pilot LTX to get a smooth vibration free ride.
