  1. But with a timing belt, if you're inspecting it you might as well replace it. (Effort-wise, and all.)
  2. The owner's manual for my car (95 ES300) has 2 maintenance schedules, A and B. Schedule A is for tough driving conditions (sandy area, lots of idling, towing heavy loads, etc.) Schedule B is for normal driving. I drive mostly on the highway, so I'm definitely on B. The "timing belt" entry in the schedule says "only for maintenance schedule A", and then gives the mileage for that schedule at which it should be replaced. I'm now at 105,000 miles, and I'm wondering if the timing belt should be replaced. I believe that it was replaced by the previous owner at 60,000. Thanks!
  3. Thanks. I did a search on this forum (and the Maintenance How-to Forum) before I posted this thread. The pictures on the tutorial post weren't working, so that wasn't much help. Anyway, I think I might be able to reach it with a flex-head rachet, but I'll be doing it by feel. Does that sound appropriate?
  4. I'm hoping to replace the fuel filter in my car on my own. I've got located the filter in the engine compartment, but I can't figure out how to access and loosen the fastener on the bottom of the filter. It seems like jacking up the car wouldn't actually help, since the space beneath the engine appears rather cramped. Any hints?
  5. Is it very difficult to change a timing belt? This seems like something that I'd like to try myself.
