  1. ahem... um.. i meant... "good".. ...right... yea...
  2. I say go for the rebuild, or go ahead and do a 2JZ-GTE swap with a supra TT tranny. The latter would be my choice. Either way, what goof is it to have a lexus if it doesnt work? Start saving my friend, and try and find a cheaper mechanic. Im sure sure 4000 is a highball fig. Happy Hunting Juancho
  3. def good wheels. I dont have them personally, but ive heard of nothing but good things from them. Always brought up as an option for people who still want the OEM look for their car. Happy Hunting. Juancho
  4. i also have heard great things about the eibach/tokico set-up. I didnt know they were that expensive though. Any alternatives not so pricey? thanks Juancho
  5. The current SC is in my opinion, no way as good as the 92-99 body style. I think Lexus knows this, and with the current market of cars and automakers coming out with new lines of autos and new body styles, I wouldn't be surprised if a remodeling of the car is already underway. They just put a new face on the GS, the new IS is soon to arrive, I bet that an unveiling of a new SC should come soon. I am sick of people saying how much the current SC is a chick car. And I am sick of believing them. There are concepts out on spy web sites and what not, and they are great and all, but im not getting my hopes up until Lexus makes it official. Juancho
  6. Go for the piggyback. Cheaper from my experience. And def go BFI. you actually FEEL the results. Happy Hunting Juancho
  7. right... i knew that.... oops.. http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/style...icons/icon6.gif juancho
  8. I like what kietlander has to say. First of all you can turbo a stock 2JZ-GTE. Even a 2JZ-GE if need be. The tranny fits, but the stock 5-speed that comes with sc300's can only hold a max of 350ish HP. What you want to do go ahead and save up for a 6sp tranny because once you start modifying you car, its never enough.. Than swap in the tranny and engine (with or without the turbo) and get a standalone EMS or something that wil manage your engine's properties or whatnot. As far as the durability of the 2JZ series... well lets me just say this. I have seen a honda B-16 take up to 400+ HP on stock internals. The 2JZ is by far a superior engine. Im not saying go nuts on it , you might want to sleeve it, but it can handle about a max of 8-10 lbs of boost stock dep on the turbo setup you use. Also, try and stay away from ebay. I cant say im perfect either, i saved a boat load on rims... but i wouldnt shop engines there. Happy hunting Juancho
  9. def no real drawbacks to it except yea.. the cutting of the air box. As far as mass producing it.. well i dont know if they have a large enough demographic. I love my lex and i think its kick a$$ and all but I have to say that i see more people... um... lets say "of age and maturity" that would not, or rather would not like to spend money to modify their car. Simply because they love their car the way it is and are happy with it. Also, its just too cheap to get the same results by yourself. Happy hunting Juancho
  10. 119??!! Who would buy a lex that could only do that? As far as the limits on japan bro.... well.. if its 119 on all cars... remind me why J-Spec components are so popular? No offence or anything but i think you might have been mis-informed. Most japaneese versions of american cars are tuned for HIGHER horsepower and top speeds. Ive heard of Gov. chips like in all the Merc's and BMW's, but a National set limit? I dont know about all that. Let me know what you find out. Try going out of town and stepping on it, your sc400 should do plenty more than 119... Juancho... p.s... my lex was stock( 15'' rims and all) and at sea level.. granted i needed a few miles... i hit 142 on a g-tech pro, while my needle was reading 145.
  11. oh... sorry bro. Forgot this..Um as far as HP goes... dont think anyone has dyno'd it, but everyone who does it, including myself, notices a lot more kick with it than with a CAF. The difference and sound is significant. We just got lucky with the design of our car i guess.
  12. hey man how do i join the LOC team in ash reacing? I keep getting to the site but its all a bunch of headlines and stuff... HELP!!! I want $$$$ and to help the team of course...
  13. you're prob all done by now but if not i got some ideas for ya if you've gone with forced induction, def get a stand alone fuel/engine mgmt system- aem makes a good one, Color matched H.R.E's are a symbol of affluence here in miami, TIEN full adjustable racing suspension, Falken Azenis rubber, A nice in Dash DVD/touch screen system will get you tons of attention, No one sounds better than Borla exhaust, Upgraded tranny( ive seen the autos start cooking after 400hp), 100 shot of Nitrous Oxide should help in 1/4 mile's, and get a good tuner/ mechanic with a dyno to keep your car running smooth. Nothing worse than a fast as he(( car, than one that lasts you a week because it wasnt set up right. There is soooooooo much more, but let me know if you're not done so i can keep going
  14. i agree with you bmann, most of us dont have cars for that long, especiall anthing coming close to 500,000 miles. We car enthusiasts usually put our engines through a lot of stress, what with our lead feet and all. We are constantly on the search for better products that extend the lives of our hi-performance engines under hi temps and speeds. As far as hi mileage goes... well, we can let grandpa drive miss daisy with all the mobil1 and reg oil they want. I say, pedal to the metal my friend. Happy Hunting Juancho
  15. check if your distributer seal is broken and leaking oil. I made the mistake of changing the alternator but since the distibuter was leaking oil it ruined the new one. It is... well... i wouldnt say common problem on sc's, but ive seen it happen before. Usually when you have a lead foot like i do. Happy hunting. Juancho
  16. i dont care what magazines say about BMW's 155 cut off.... not true!!!!! I have it on film too... Im riding down Card Sound rd (on the way to the keys...) in my friends 03 stang cobra... we keep it at 155 for a while( keeps shutting off after that from gov chip) and then my friend alex zooms by in his STOCK M3. I mean zoom as in looks like at least 15 mph faster. Although im not sure exactly, he says his speedo said 178. Id say 170 but not more. Anyway, it was a whole group of us having fun and being stupid. Here are the cars. 2000 Honda civic EX (some work, basics only) Shuts off at 120mph- my old car 2004 Honda Accord Coupe 4cyl( also some work) 138 mph- Loren 2003 Audi TT 180 - 142 mph- Chez 1993 Lexus sc300 - 142mph (me and the audi were neck and neck the whole time....) 1984 BMW M3 widebody-145mph- Brendan's old car 2003 Mustang Mach1- (new gears, exhaust, chip, some others) redline at 150 mph- Dont know 2004 BMW 745li- shut off at 155mph- Chris 2004 Mustang Cobra- shuts off at 155 mph-Brendan's new car 2001 Saleen s281 sc- 165 mph- Albie (hate that kid) 2002 Carrera 996- 176mph- My cousin Todd 2001 BMW M3- 178mph- Alex Juancho
  17. dont worry about trac control but i cant tell you how many times ABS has saved my a$$.... wow, coming from a city of bad drivers like miami... no way man... i would be road kill without abs. The thing with miami is it rains every day. Literally, everyday like from 3 to 4 it rains, then in half an hour, its sunny without a cloud in the sky. The problem is that means at one point in time throught the day, the roads are all wet, mix that with my fellow immigrants that dont know how to drive right, and the traffic from it all, and boom, you get the avg of 900 accidents in miami-dade county every 4 days. Also why the insurance premiums are the highest in the WORLD... no joke. My lawyer has a caddy escalade that costs him more in insurance here, than his 360 modena and 575 maranello did in NY... combined... ouch. juancho
  18. even if you have the money, dont go for the injen. A BFI works much better than anyhing else out there. I guess maybe its the luck of the draw or something on the design of our cars, but no intake gives out more oomph than a BFI. th only reason to go with a CAI is if your car is a show car. juancho
  19. i have a friend who ran through a brick wall trying to drift at 35mph... he has a urethane front bumper. He left a hole in someones wall/fence and it only left scratches on his car....deep ones, but still, only scratches. Always go urethane if you can.. juancho
  20. good luck matting a w58 to the V8. Let me know how it turns out, as ive heard it can be quite a mission. As far as the slushbox goes, all you really need is a shiftkit for it and it'll save you boucoup dollars an get you the performance you want. Happy hunting juancho
  21. sc300targatop's car is very nice..... except for that d@mn wing.... Although exponentially better than the photoshop one, it still looks like aftermarket rice. It just doesnt go with the car. The accent lines and body lines dont match. If you want your car to look like a supra, buy a supra. Why have a wannabe toyota when you have a very nice lexus? Thats like taking the headlights off an integra and putting on civic ones. It goes the other way. I personally am proud to have my lexus, and will never invest money in it to make it look more toyota like... no matter how cool a "sc300 that looks like a supra" is. juancho
  22. i dont care what anyone says, that car is HOT. Imagine a prestigious quality car like a lexus, sitting in your driveway, moking all those that go by saying, "ha, look at me bentley, AND WHAT?! AND WHAT?!" Nothing at all today compares to the look of this car. Although i do admit it does have some styling cues from other car companies, its not those features that make a good looking car, its the execution. If you mix a bunch spices and herbs together with some meat, it doesnt make you a chef. Its the execution there-of that makes someone an Emeril. All in all, beautiful car, beautiful design, and a beautiful addition to the lexus lineup. Juancho
  23. still sounds fishy but if you can get that price then for sure bro, do it. But as far as i know everything is usually at least double what you're saying. That is why everything sounds so fishy. The info you had recieved sounds like it was from someone who didnt know $h!+ about lexus' or supras. You can get the J-spec engine and tranny but everything doesnt bolt right on. You have to have some rear end pieces from a supra to make it work along with some cutting and welding. All in all its a pretty good time job. not toooo dificult though... happy hunting juancho
