An engine can give good compression numbers and still be burning oil. Compare all your plugs for deposits and for oil on the threads when the mech takes them out. Have someone drive behind you at WOT...are you blowing smoke? Does it smoke on startup first thing in the morning?

Haha, thanks for the link, I got em riled up over at the Corral :D

If he wants to kill himself, let him. Just answer his question. Jesus...
Fools that do that *BLEEP* endanger everyone on the road in their lane, in the other lane, and even off the road. Have a blow-out going 120? Yeah, enjoy keeping your car straight. If your car is so damn fast, go to the track and run some real cars, instead of triple digit ricer flybys.

Negative ghost rider, the headlights are full.

thanks... excuse this newbie.. now how and where do I check for these codes.
For 95 OBDIs up to 95, this is your baby

I can vouch for Equus, as I've a similar reader since 1995 for 3 Mustangs and it still works like new. Best $50 I ever spent, considering how much I've used it :o

Do some research. Autotrader, NADA, KBB, Edmunds, etc.

If the good gas doesn't change it, then it's probably some valvetrain noise. Does it increase with idle? Have you even popped the hood to listen to it? Does it do it when you floor it? More when it's hot out? Need a little more info here...

hi
I have a 95SC400 with 107K miles..the car, when I accelerate from a stop in the 0-40 mph range, the engine or something makes a kinda clicking sound...it might be knock, since i do pump 87 gas into it...any suggestions? It doesn't sound like knock though...
Yeah, it's called "pinging" or "detonation". These engines require higher octane fuel for a reason. Why skimp and risk damage to your pistons? An extra $4 per fillup is well worth the piece of mind. Go run some 93 in it and monitor it.

I'll take pics of my setup when I get home from work.
The trim piece doesn't fit right since our space isn't as wide as a normal double din space. So the ghetto tape is holding it right now at the top til I make a better way to mount it. I added some Boston Acoustic 5.25s to replace the dry rotted rears, replaced the sub with a Rockford Phosgate P110S4 and it barelyyyy fit above the gas tank. Bypassed the factory amps, and a 300watt amp is powering the sub and the front/rears are running off the deck right now. Sounds good, but the fronts crackle if I turn it up too much. I might add some 6.5s in the rear and move the 5.25s to the front to get more mids. The shop built the tray for cheap, looks ok for now, but would it look better with smooth platic instead of that rough stuff??

Yup, mine does it from Park to Reverse, usually after it's been sitting awhile. I'm gonna have my guy put it up on a lift and we'll take a look to see if something is binding or whatever.

Search for "steering" and "bushing" ...
http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums/index...eering++bushing
i did do a search but there was no pictures showing where the bushings are :chairshot:
So jack the car up and look for yourself.

Hmmm...same problem here....anyone else? I haven't really checked the seals yet or pushed up while driving.

The Illuminas on the Cobra are 5 way adjustable. They wouldn't be just 3way for another model.
http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/car/adjustable.html
The Tokico Blues are the same as the Illuminas set on 3 ( 1 is softest, 5 stiffest) which is where mine are set at anyways.

Hmmm, I get some wind noise at 70+ on from the driver door, is that a common problem with these cars?

I'm gathering some info for a whole system swap with a single DIN mp3 player. I have someone trying to locate an adapter so it'll fit, I'll repost what I got when I get it all in.

You could add one of those Turbinators(?) or even an electric supercharger and really make some power! Add some nitrogen in your tires and you'd really be sippin gas.
What about this?
The tornado!

The CD changer just died, there is no bass, and the left rear speaker doesn't work. The speakers are probably brittle anyhow and need to be changed. Instead of trying to track down and replace this and that with OEM I'll just do it all at once. I have a Kenwood MP3 player in the Cobra so I guess I've gotten used to the clarity.
Something else...when I'm creeping around my parking lot, sometimes when I make a turn (or just going straight sometimes) I hear a POP from the rear of the car. It sounds like something was binding then pops out but the suspension isn't loaded. Is this a common problem?

And I don't trust any of this snake oil crap. Although I do have a bottle of Z-MOX I could sell you. Guaranteed to have you go faster, because your wallet will be lighter. Wallet lighter = less weight. Less weight = more speed. Special instructions also say to do a number 2 in the bathroom and go on a Lindsay Lohan diet.
hahaha
Man, Lohan looks rank now

Oil on the thread is from an oil leak form a valve cover usually.
As oil doesn't leak on a plugs thread unless the head is cracked.
Oil on the tips only is a problem but not on the threads.
Ar, forgot about the valve cover. What I mentioned is common on the pushrod V8s I'm familiar with, but perhaps not with these <_<

Oil on the spark plug threads are indicative of worn valve guides and/or seals. If they're really bad you'll get a puff of blue smoke on startup. It's not throwing a check engine light?

The contacts at the bottom get corroded over time. The coolant completes the circuit between the 2 prongs, so when it drops below sensor level, it can tell, so it trips the low coolant idiot light. Or if they're gunked up, it'll think the same thing. This is how the sensor in the Cobra works, so it's probably a similar setup. Pull it out and clean the contacts, whatever is on there should come off pretty easily.
