  1. The contacts at the bottom get corroded over time. The coolant completes the circuit between the 2 prongs, so when it drops below sensor level, it can tell, so it trips the low coolant idiot light. Or if they're gunked up, it'll think the same thing. This is how the sensor in the Cobra works, so it's probably a similar setup. Pull it out and clean the contacts, whatever is on there should come off pretty easily.
  2. An engine can give good compression numbers and still be burning oil. Compare all your plugs for deposits and for oil on the threads when the mech takes them out. Have someone drive behind you at WOT...are you blowing smoke? Does it smoke on startup first thing in the morning?

  8. If the good gas doesn't change it, then it's probably some valvetrain noise. Does it increase with idle? Have you even popped the hood to listen to it? Does it do it when you floor it? More when it's hot out? Need a little more info here...
  9. Yeah, it's called "pinging" or "detonation". These engines require higher octane fuel for a reason. Why skimp and risk damage to your pistons? An extra $4 per fillup is well worth the piece of mind. Go run some 93 in it and monitor it.
  10. The trim piece doesn't fit right since our space isn't as wide as a normal double din space. So the ghetto tape is holding it right now at the top til I make a better way to mount it. I added some Boston Acoustic 5.25s to replace the dry rotted rears, replaced the sub with a Rockford Phosgate P110S4 and it barelyyyy fit above the gas tank. Bypassed the factory amps, and a 300watt amp is powering the sub and the front/rears are running off the deck right now. Sounds good, but the fronts crackle if I turn it up too much. I might add some 6.5s in the rear and move the 5.25s to the front to get more mids. The shop built the tray for cheap, looks ok for now, but would it look better with smooth platic instead of that rough stuff??

  12. Yup, mine does it from Park to Reverse, usually after it's been sitting awhile. I'm gonna have my guy put it up on a lift and we'll take a look to see if something is binding or whatever.

  15. The Illuminas on the Cobra are 5 way adjustable. They wouldn't be just 3way for another model. http://www.tokicogasshocks.com/car/adjustable.html The Tokico Blues are the same as the Illuminas set on 3 ( 1 is softest, 5 stiffest) which is where mine are set at anyways.
  16. Hmmm, I get some wind noise at 70+ on from the driver door, is that a common problem with these cars?
  17. I'm gathering some info for a whole system swap with a single DIN mp3 player. I have someone trying to locate an adapter so it'll fit, I'll repost what I got when I get it all in.

  19. The CD changer just died, there is no bass, and the left rear speaker doesn't work. The speakers are probably brittle anyhow and need to be changed. Instead of trying to track down and replace this and that with OEM I'll just do it all at once. I have a Kenwood MP3 player in the Cobra so I guess I've gotten used to the clarity. Something else...when I'm creeping around my parking lot, sometimes when I make a turn (or just going straight sometimes) I hear a POP from the rear of the car. It sounds like something was binding then pops out but the suspension isn't loaded. Is this a common problem?
  20. Ar, forgot about the valve cover. What I mentioned is common on the pushrod V8s I'm familiar with, but perhaps not with these <_<
  21. Oil on the spark plug threads are indicative of worn valve guides and/or seals. If they're really bad you'll get a puff of blue smoke on startup. It's not throwing a check engine light?
