  1. I would also argue that over time and miles, the springs get softer, therefore slightly smoother with a loss in handling... thats my humble, amatuer opinion.
  2. Well, the car was in an accident and the repair shop did a shoddy job of fixing the car. Needless to say, I *think* the front right spring needs to be replaced, but of course, that will require changing at least both sides. Also, Lexus wants 150.00 apiece for the springs, so I figured for 200 bucks on Ebay, I could replace all 4, lower the ride height just a tad, and get some improvement in the lean/roll... they are Eibach ProSprings... The car has a 105K on it, and it does in fact, lean forward quite a bit when braking... my confidence in it not rolling some day is not so high with that much lean just with moderate braking...
  3. Has anyone removed the rear springs on a 99 or 00 RX300? I'm looking to change my springs all the way around and was wondering how complex the rear removal and installation process was. Thanks - Robin
  4. Thanks for the response. That makes me a little more confident. Can you tell me how hard it was to replace the springs in the back? Its a piece of cake for the front, as I have had those off before. Thanks alot
  5. Hey there... I'm looking at dropping my Lexus RX300 by about 1.2 inches... these are Eibach Pro Springs - I've got some concerns though. First, is there going to be a Camber Issue with this car? Do I need a camber kit to keep the wheels straight? Second, would I be sacrificing any ride quality? Perhaps a little stiffer I expect, But I still want to be able to cruise comfortably in the thing. The real reason I'm looking at this is that it I'm guessing it would be cheaper for me to install aftermarkets rather then buy new springs from Lexus. Any inputs would be great. Thanks - Robin
  6. Hello, Ok - my 99 RX300 officially sounds like an old school bus when I drive it - getting tons of rattles and lots of noise out of the front suspension. Sounds like the thing is actually falling apart, somewhere near the top mount. Any one else have this problem? Sounds like a hollow rattle... anyway, my next idea is to rip the thing out and put a new strut in, and a new top mount. Any suggestions? What I really need is the procedure for removing the strut assembly from the car... looks like its just two large bolts on the bottom and the three on the top - is there any else I need to do? Thanks for your help. Robin
  7. Go to http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov and you can get the TSBs for free! Cheers
  8. I was wondering if any one could provide further clarification on this timing belt issue - I looked in the manual to verify the whole 90,000 mile thing, but the maintenance schedule only calls for a 90,000 mile change under "special circumstances - such as heavy commerical use, large amounts of time in idle, etc..." How about the normal, everyday use by Ol' Joe Bag O' Donuts? Thanks - Robin
  9. Hello, I'm learning more and more about my 99 RX300 everyday - I just discovered that the dealer apparently installed some type of internal radar detector shortly after the original owner purchased the vehicle. I also have a non-lexus type switch located on the driver side console under the shift lever and it activates a light that was installed on the instrument/gauge housing. It has a light in the middle that turns amber or green depending on the switch position and a red LED light on each side of the light. It kind of beeps when I turn the switch on, kind of like a radar detector. Also, the receipt said it was a K40 w/ laser. I was wondering if this was it, and if so, does anyone know anything about it - like, what the signals are and its capabilities... Thanks for reading my rather verbous description. Anyone's input would be greatly appreciated - thanks again - Robin
  10. Thanks for the reply - I was hoping the answer would be yes, but I guess its just another great way for Lexus to make a killing. Cheers
  11. Hello everyone, I just bought a used RX300, but only received one Master Key and one Valet Key... I was just looking on EBAY to buy a new Master, but most of them are precut. Does anyone know if I buy a used master and reprogram it against the original master, will the dealer be able to replace the metal key only --> Lexus customer service said I have to buy a whole new key, but I'm not so sure. I would really appreciate someones help on this. Thank you very much - Robin
