2023 Lexus ES250 hissing noise
Natty Bumppo replied to krishna m's topic in 2019 - Present ES250 / ES300h / ES350 / ES350h
Do you have AC ventilated seats option? I do on my 2021 ES350 with the Premium package that includes the AC cooled seats option and also heard a hissing background sound when the engine started. Turned out to be the AC seat fan that was on and did not know about the option since 1st time to own a Lexus. I turned off AC seat option on the dashboard selection and sound gone. -
Drain &Fill Transmission Fluid Change Question
Natty Bumppo replied to jonathandlee1's topic in General Chat
RX400h Filled for life is definitely defined by Toyota/Lexus as soon as the power train warranty is over then it's your cost for a bad tranny. It would be an interesting warranty claim to get approved if the tranny failed say 10 miles before the powertrain warranty expired and if there was no misuse of the tranny ( that would be interesting for the factory to play with on a Supra) and no tranny fluid change as they claim is needed and it failed due to bad original fluid. They would have to honor it and replace the tranny. What if say 10 miles after the warranty expires? On a previous post of mine on Oct 25 2024 regarding when to change tranny fluid I referenced Ahmed The Car Care Nut and he uses 6 years or 60k which ever is first which you tended to agree with. -
Drain &Fill Transmission Fluid Change Question
Natty Bumppo replied to jonathandlee1's topic in General Chat
Jonathan How many miles on the ODO at this fluid service? Are you the original owner? If not what was on the ODO when you bought the car? Is this your 1st tranny fluid change since owned? What support system did you use to level the car when doing the tranny fluid change? What was the tranny fluid temp when you did the drain out, or did you do the drain and fill when the tranny fluid was cold due to say overnight cool down? If as you propose that the tranny was over filled when you drained out 4 qts and you put back 4 qts and when tranny reached near 104F you drained out 2.5 qts seems there would be noticeable operation symptoms of shifting, etc. before this service, were there any? If as stated there was that much error in the tranny fill it must have been from a previous tranny service done wrong? Such as a quick lube place. Q: Assuming the tranny was correctly previously filled, somebody please explain why on these auto trannies a dead cold and accurately measured gravity fluid drain with stand pipe removed and replaced standpipe and drain plug and refilled with the same amount of fluid at same cold temp of drained fluid will not be ok? If fluid out and fluid in are at the same temp the volumes are equal. Thank you -
My 2021 Lexus ES 350 Manual lists no change interval for the tranny fluid. I realize it is a closed system and no dip stick to check level or color but there is wear on parts so no change stated is strange to my years with cars. So once the powertrain warranty is up Lexus is free of responsibility. Presently at 22.3k and 3 years since put in service in 9/04/2021. What is the consensus of the group for tranny fluid and I assume with filter change for normal driving in city and highway with an occasional Italian Tune Up with the gas pedal on the Interstate? Online recommendations are all over the place. Here is one mechanic that has done a lot of work on these cars - The Car Care Nut a Toyota/Lexus master mechanic of many years and now his own shop says 60k or 6 years what ever comes first. Clip here on his maintenance Thanks all

Finally did the driver seat rear pouch fix. Moved the seat far forward, removed the 2 straps under the seat and lift up the cloth vanity piece. Removed the 2 Phillips screws (not bolts as I stated in previous post) they are up high under the cloth piece. Now the fun part. The plastic panel is clipped on at the top of the driver seat with 2 plastic claws that are part of the plastic panel to be removed. It is tight and to remove requires to push up and push in at the same time and then down. A bit tricky and requires the right touch. Reattached the straps to the plastic mounts on the back of the panel. Applied a bit of clear E6000 adhesive so no future release. After E6000 set reinstalled the panel top first by positioning panel so plastic clips are a bit below each metal attach piece on the back of the seat that the plastic panel clips attach to. Then push panel in and up slight release of pressure to move clips toward the metal clips then a bit down, a tricky maneuver. Reinstall the 2 metal screws at bottom and reclip the 2 straps for the cloth vanity piece. Done Ta Da, Have a beer

Used the canister tool noted in post above on 10/18/24 @3:36pm The Tool works great and a good thing made of vanadium steel not cheap aluminum that breaks with tight filter canisters because the oil was last changed at Lexus of Wesley Park Fla about 7 months ago and installed excessively tight well beyond spec (on purpose ?). It took a 6 point 1/2" drive 15/16" hardened socket on a 18" breaker bar with a 3 ft extension bar (est 150 ft lb) to break it loose with several tries and some PB Blaster spray, Yikes! x 3. I installed @ 20 ft lbs spec is 18 ft lbs went a tad above. Used lots of oil on plastic threads and rubber O ring. If you want a tool that will not fail the one I used is it and will not break and last. Went with Mobil 1 0w 20 Advanced Fuel Econ + Lexus A1 filter (bought filter at Lexus)

Went to the local Lexus dealer parts dept and had the parts guy I know brought up a OEM parts schematic of the seat back that showed how it is secured (after careful looking at pic). There are 2 bolts at the bottom behind the vanity cloth, remove them and the plastic back can be pushed upwards to release the 2 plastic down claws on the plastic back panel that are attached to a metal bar on the main seat structure. The vanity cloth is secured with 2 stretchy bands with metal clips that crab a metal bar under the seat, locate by touchy feely. Will see how it works when I try.

Alignment specs for 2021 ES350
Natty Bumppo replied to Natty Bumppo's topic in 2019 - Present ES250 / ES300h / ES350 / ES350h
A correction to above post - I realize the front axel on my car does not have camber adjustment but if it did adjusting camber effects toe so toe would be adjusted last. That is why I asked about the rear camber and any toe there since RX400h noted toe not typically available. I'm I correct to assume there is no rear axel toe on my car even though RX400h lists a spec for it? Thank you all -
Would appreciate how to edit a sent post to correct spelling etc.?

Alignment specs for 2021 ES350
Natty Bumppo replied to Natty Bumppo's topic in 2019 - Present ES250 / ES300h / ES350 / ES350h
Thank you very much. Interesting you note rear toe has a spec even though typically not available. On front when camber adjusted it changes toe which is properly done last, wouldn't rear camber adjustment effect rear toe you note? -
Went to a local Lexus dealer and service manager led me into the service area and spoke to a mechanic and asked what tool he uses and how good. He uses this and said it works well with great fitment on the canister flukes only and lasts for many changes he has done. I bought one from Amazon and will try it this Saturday and follow up https://www.amazon.com/Tool-Guy-Republic-Vanadium-Housings/dp/B01B8O0BFU/ref=sr_1_5?crid=UXLL6MXF8TBV&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.Ar2eFjmfY315XxlSsz7oONGO8ZclUMKdTkTralf3ozxlL4EyiMddhxGP1OVpl78WLPmjDeqpffkTTVrPGFb7JEJunmsz3fKkmnW4wh44MndnYkSXlp55dDKQNu37BZD8w4_ZT5lHam-4nRn35_SeJ8x7w7PJ_zgTgWRx2lLeE5DIb-2QnpFUfyMHy1LEOascnyvQHrAVVXqIoc7XU--Zs63ylrxxX7-_7cGYvJYhVx-SMkGT8J2DgMalY21e2pE8iqOWlamjBc_Wl_MdXxK0IBeVX2KjDsl9pEyZKvW9n_I.gsBc9HJQQCbkasew7EhPB8ia0DJfqqvV8vWP0HduhWg&dib_tag=se&keywords=lexus+oil+canister+removal+tool&qid=1728678844&s=automotive&sprefix=lexus+oil+canister+removal+tool%2Cautomotive%2C163&sr=1-5

On my 2021 Lexus ES350 (22K) the rear driver seat storage pouch 2 attachment straps became detached from inside the driver seat back. How is the back of seat plastic panel with pouch removed so I can reattach them? The straps are not broken and the attachment eye points are not damaged just slipped out of their attachment. I was simply gently opening the pouch and it flopped open. I am the 2nd owner bought car in 8/16/24. Thank you very much Pete

Than you for the information. I previously saw that tool of the same design offered also by DNA parts and others, who is the original manufacturer? Noticed in the reviews by Toyota mechanics and DIYers that the center red hex gets easily damaged and can rotate due to the strange circlip attachment to the case when removing the canister if too tight. Would prefer the simple OEM steel design at a decent price. Any other info is appreciated. Thanks again

A DIYer looking for a good after market tool that you use that works without damage to the plastic canister in the 2021 ES350 V6. I have seen the tools that grab the 14 flukes as well as having several notches that fit into the plastic vertical wings on the canister sides that users reported breaking the wings and gives a no good. The dealer has one but crazy at $90. The dealer OEM tool has no notches only fits on the 14 flukes of the canister. Am I correct the tool should be 64mm to fit the 14 flukes. Thanks all
